Who cares

It was deep in the afternoon, Bright and sunny when Evelyn stepped off the bus. The sun was jarring and shone right on her face, making her squint, She rummaged through her purse in search of her phone, and finally finding it, she decided to give Ethan Cole a call.

The memory of Ethan she had in the past was that of a person who was hardly ever home due to his job as a physician. but whenever he did come back he would bring a gift. but that was all, it was like he was trying to be a Father but not really a dad.

Nevertheless, The former memory she had of Ethan with the current one does not exactly match up.

With a sigh. She dialled a number and after a few rings, a low voice answered, "Hello"

"Ethan, I'm back. Can you pick me up"

"I'll send my driver" he replied before distastefully hanging up

"Tsk how rude," Evelyn said in annoyance, The strange sensation she felt back in Liánhuā town about him slowly resurfaced

Pushing it out of her mind, She sent a text,

[Never mind, I'll take a Taxi]

In a second she received a notification

Ethan Cole : [Ok ]

Flagging down a taxi, she opened the door and slid onto the worm seat, As the taxi driver started the engine, she glanced out the window watching the familiar street pass by.

Do people really change?

Arriving home, she stepped through the front door and went straight to her room. As she Unpacked her belongings, A photo fell out of the suitcase, it was the photo she got from Liang Sun. The edges were slightly worn and she could see the faded colours of the image.

She stared at it for a while Strangely finding Liang Sun's wife familiar, But she could not recall any specific memory of them together, If not for the photo, She wouldn't have recalled any face of the sort.

Putting the photo away she neatly arranged the clean clothes and tossed the dirty ones into the laundry basket.

She finished tidying up after some time, Right on the spot her stomach grumbled, She walked out of her room and headed straight to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and it was practically empty. not even a bottle of water in sight!

Evelyn found herself with a growling stomach and an empty fridge

"How cool," She said sarcastically

Walking back to her room, She picked up her phone and ordered a takeout, eagerly waiting for her food She picked up her phone and decided to scroll through a few post

Approximately ten minutes later, She heard the doorbell ring, immediately standing up she rushed to the door and got the food then thanked the delivery guy

Spreading the food on the table, she dug in.

Ding~

She heard the sound of notifications across the room, picking up her phone, and she noticed a new message from Amelia

Amy : [ Are you back? ]

Lyn : [Yes and I had a wonderful time, What about you huh]

After replying to the message, Evelyn could not help but chuckle, she could already imagine Amelia's expression while reading it

And just as expected

Amelia immediately hurled angry messages

Amy : [Get lost! Freak, I had more fun than whatever crap you did].

Amy : [Sent an image]

Evelyn opened the photo she saw an enchanting view of a surrounding with lotus flowers planted in there with the sunlight directly beaming on it, it looked mesmerizing, Saving the image she replied,

Lyn : [It is quite beautiful!]

Amy : [ Ha-ha! Of course, it is, Coupled with my great photography Skill]

Evelyn disdainfully glanced at the message and remarked, [Just a compliment or two and you're already losing it.]

As she finished typing her message she locked her phone and dropped it, then proceeded to finish her meal, She picked up her laptop and started editing the comic she started.

After about 3 hours, the front door clicked open, and A tall figure wearing gold-rimmed glasses walked in, he had a milk-coloured coat draped over his shoulder wearing a suit.

He walked to the kitchen counter and poured himself a glass of water

Evelyn did not even bother to spare him a glance as she dropped the laptop and packed up the takeout containers

"You didn't cook?" He questioned while he briefly glanced at the takeout containers

Evelyn immediately shot him a strange look "Nope, can't cook" She replied

Dropping the glass of water, he said "A new Nanny would be hired then"

Evelyn frowned, nodding her head she walked back to her room and shut the door.

"He is not Ethan"

The sense of bafflement which she felt the past two days back suddenly all matched up.

Ethan cherishes his privacy and had reacted strongly when she hired someone before which stunned her. But this person is the complete opposite

He also cooks his meals as he has a deep dislike for others touching his food.

A chill ran down her spine, She quickly locked the door and climbed up her bed. Her forehead covered in a layer of cold sweat.

With great difficulty, she managed to close her eyes and fall asleep.

The next morning, Evelyn woke up drenched in sweat, She glanced around the room feeling a bit disoriented. She stood up wanting to go to the bathroom

Knock knock ~

Just as she was about to move she heard a knock on the door. Startled, Evelyn immediately backed away, Her eyes searching for her phone.

"Young Miss, I'm the new Nanny. Breakfast is ready please come down"

Even though it was an unfamiliar voice, Evelyn unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief

"I'll be down in a minute" She answered

"Okay Miss" The Nanny replied

Hearing the sound of footsteps fading away, Evelyn slowly made her way to the bathroom, washing up before putting on a casual dress, She picked up her phone and left her bedroom, heading downstairs.

Settling down on the chair, Her eyes darted around the room

The action was noticed by the Nanny who replied,

"Are you looking for Mr Ethan? He left an hour ago"

"Oh," Evelyn replied, She dropped her head and began munching on the food

Just then, She felt a vibration coming from her dress pocket, Reaching for her phone, She glanced at it and saw one Notification from Amelia on WeChat

Amy : [Rise and Shine beaut! Let's go shopping today {Heart emoji} ]

Evelyn cringed so badly at the whole message, She exited the app and directly gave Amelia a call and questioned,

"Aren't you supposed to be at work?"

Amelia harrumphed in response, "Pfft…who needs work when my family has money." She added with an angry huff "Moreover, I do not want to see that fool"

Evelyn chuckled at the mention of Zetian and said with a warning, "If you don't go to work you'll lose your monthly bonus"

Amelia snorted, "I am the heir of the Chi family"

"Zetian would make you work overtime to make up for it" Evelyn replied again

Amelia immediately hollered back, "Screw him! Who cares"

"Mrs Chi would skin you alive," Evelyn remarked good-naturedly

Amelia immediately felt a sense of fear and protested, "Hey! Come on! If you don't say anything how will she know? Anyways, Meet me at the shopping district" She said quickly and ended the call

Evelyn chuckled in amusement, She finished up her meal before grabbing a coat and leaving the house.
