Emergency hospital rush

Mela's pov

I sat in the class, feigning attention while the professor droned on about a full topic. My my airpods stayed firmly in place, music drowning out of the monotony. Yet, an eerie sensation crept over me, a feeling of being watched.

Turning my head, I locked eyes with someone at the back of the room. His piercing emerald green gaze froze me. A chill surged through my body, a thief and electric current had passed through me. Just as I began to study his face my phone buzzed loudly shattering my moment.

Glancing at the screen, I saw Uncle Philip's name. I excuse myself from the class and stepped outside answer.

"Uncle Philip?" I called out to him after picking up.

"Mela, you need to get to the family hospital now, your mom's in labor." Uncle said panting.

"On my way." I replied ending the call. I rushed back into the classroom hastingly gathering my belongings. "Ma'am, I need to leave. it's urgent." I said not waiting for her response before dashing out.

As I ran out towards the parking lot, I called my best friend, Mira. "Hey, Ira. Mom's in labor, I'm heading to the hospital."

"I'm coming with you! Wait for me at the parking lot. I'll pack up and meet you there." She replied sounding excited.

Minutes later Mira joined me, and we sped off. When we arrive at the hospital, we found a Philip pacing anxiously.

"Where's mom?" I asked.

"She's in the operating theater," he explained. "There were complications. The doctor are performing a c-section to save both her and the baby."

His words hit me like a ton of bricks. My chest tightened but I forced myself to stay calm. Everyone thought I was cold hearted and maybe I was, to everyone except my Mom. She is my world I can't bear the thought of losing her.

"We ain't ready to lose her, you damn selfish bitch, even though I am inside you, I still got my own voice and thoughts." My inner voice spoke.

"Can't you ever fucking shut up, do you have to be this way all the time, you always speak at inappropriate time." I yelled at the voice and the voice kept quiet without saying another word.

Mom and grandma were the only ones who has never judged me for being cold and different. Mira also helped me alot, she also understood me and she never judged me.

Mira, standing nearby, was on the verge of tears. "I can't lose another mother." She whispered, her voice trembling. Mira had considered my mom her own ever since losing her biological mother years ago.

"Ira is such a cry baby, she's so crazy but no one knows she's also equally sensitive." My inner voice said, but I didn't reply the voice even though I know the voice is right.

I had to hug her tightly, trying to console her, even though I wasn't sure how to comfort myself. Uncle Philip eventually stepped in to help come her down.

Two agonizing hours later, the Doctor emerged. We leapt to our feet.

"Both mother and baby are fine." The doctor announced, smiling. Relief washed over me, leaving me almost dizzy. Mira's face lit up with a bright smile and Uncle Philip thanked the doctor profusely.

"And when can we see them?" Uncle Phil asked.

"In an hour time. They're being cleaned up." She replied before leaving.

Uncle Philip decided to stay behind while Mira and I return home to inform Grandma. As expected, we found how pacing nervously.

"How is she?" She asked tensed.

"Mom and the baby are fine." I assured her.

"What's the baby's gender?" She asked eagerly.

I froze, realizing I hadn't asked. Feeling guilty, I promised to find out.

"Who forgets to ask such." The voice spoke yet again.

"You could have also told me to ask, you also forgot, isn't it?" I scolded the voice, thankfully it shut up.

Mira then suggested we start preparing baby clothes, so we spent the next hours sorting through Grandma's collection of tiny outfits. Mira was thrilled when Uncle Philip call to say it was a girl.

A name popped into my mind: Riddi. It felt right, even if my inner voice scoffed at it.

I never thought I would have a younger sister because, I was the only one mom had for 18 years. She told me she wasn't ready to give birth to another baby all of a sudden she gave news of her pregnancy. I felt sick to the stomach because I was already 18 and she was planning on having another baby. After some time I had to accept the fact that the baby was already there so I couldn't do anything.

"You had no choice but to." My inner voice said mocking me.

"Yeah I know!"

Here we are with another baby, I know she'll be as cute as mom because mom got married at a young age so she still looked young and beautiful.

I don't freaking know why she got married at a young age.

"Because of love."

"What stupid love, that man can never love any one genuinely, he is selfish." I replied to the voice but the voice didn't say anything but I could feel it felt bad.

The next few days passed in a blur. Mom and baby Riddi were discharged, and Uncle Philip return to London. Meanwhile, Dad, as usual, was absent, too busy with his Business ventures to care. Though the world saw him as a generous, successful man, I only knew him as cold and unkind. I have never hated someone, the way I hated my so called father.

"To the core, sometimes I wish I could just take his life." My inner voice said.

"Oh yeah!"

A lot of teen girls like me out there wished they were in my place, so they could enjoy my so called dad's riches and wealth even some class mates of mine. When passing by close to them, I hear them saying they wish that they are Arnoldo Fernandez daughter but thank God that they weren't.

Because if they were, they would have faced the hell am facing emotionally, mentally and sometimes physically, I'm grateful they weren't.

Back at home, Grandma fussed over Mom and Riddi. I spent hours watching my little sister sleep peacefully in her crib, her chubby cheeks reminding me of mom's youthful beauty.

Sitting with Mom and Grandma in the living room, I heard my name being called out by a familiar voice.

"Mela." I heard uncle Salvador's voice, Ira's dad.

"Hi, uncle." I said, forcing a smile and he smiled back walking over to mom's place.

"Melissa, how are you?"

"I'm fine Salvador, it's been a while." Mom said, smiling.

"Oh yes. I have been quite busy, how's my baby doing?"

"She's fine." Mom answered.

"Hello, aunt." Ira said, chirping in.

"Ira, how are you?"

"I'm fine, aunt." She said, going over to hug her.

"We can't stay here, let's go to the room." The voice said.

"Absolutely!" I replied.

I came back to my room without any one's knowledge. I opened my book to read, when my door creaked open.

I glanced towards the door and I saw it's Mira. I definitely know that she came to me so she could spit about her boring problem, and her problem is none other than her crush. Who doesn't even notice her which is annoying. I don't know what Mira saw in that dude that she's head over hills for, because that dude is annoying.

"And irritating to be honest." The voice remarked.

"Yeah."

When Mira finished bickering about her boring and annoying crush, she switched up."Mel, am famished."

"Go meet the maids in the kitchen, so they could make something for you."

"Yeah, right."

Mira is loved by everyone in this household. The maids and guards likes her because of her bubbling nature.

When Ira left for the kitchen, I went over to mom's room to check up on her and Riddi.

Mom already fell fast asleep and also Riddi. Riddi looks so cute and peaceful when she's sleeping. Can never get tired of staring at her sleeping little face. I just wished I could sleep so peacefully like Riddi, but I just can't because I always get nightmares while sleeping. At some point the staffs said, I'm possessed by some spirit or I was mentally unstable.

This is 21st century for fuck sake who believes in magics, witches, spirits or even demons.

A chubby bloodied man was running in the dark alley with his wounded body. Pains running all over him, he was running for his dear life, running because he wants to stay alive for his wife and new born baby are at home waiting for him. His 3 years old daughter is waiting for her dada to get back home. But, he's lungs are out of breathe, he's falling short of breathe, he needed to stop and catch his breath. But he couldn't take any chances, he couldn't stop because if he did, that would be the end of him.

He kept on running and running but the alley didn't seem to come to an end, nevertheless he still kept on running until he found a ray of hope. The light that's brewing in into the end of the alley, relief washed all over him seeing the end of the alley but his happiness didn't last long because when he got to the end of the alley where the bright light of the moon was emitting from he saw the person he had been running away from.

A tall sinister figure in black suit, his glowing emerald green eyes shines with depravity from the bright moon light that washes the earth with it's illumination. His midnight black hair, rustled disturbed by the wind, his white skin illuminated fairly by the lunar's glow and his straight pink lips pressed together in a thin line before he pulls it into an evil smirk and his eyes twinkle with amusement at the bloodied man running away from him. Erald, the son and heir to Valentino Balencentra the Mafia king to Balencentra's Mafia empire, a cold heartless killer a perfect heir to the mafia empire.

"You done running away, little chubby dog." He said, before pulling out a gun from his side and pointed it at the man's head.

The man shaked his head in denial of his fate. He can't die like this, not now, he still has a wife and kids to cater for. They are waiting for him at home.

"Why the hell did I get myself involved with this evil man!" He thought to himself, but all he has is regret.

He turned around to run back into the alley, maybe he can find another way out but, he has a rotten luck because he turned around and came face to face with a large muscular man who held him so tight that he couldn't escape.

"BOOM!!!"

The sound of gun shot can be heard in the quiet dark alley as the victim fell down limply on the floor submitting to his fate.

As the bloodied man took his last breathe, Erald gave an evil smirk which any normal person that saw him in that position would have felt a cold and chilly feeling run down their spine.
