Chapter 9: Obito's Surprise

Obito, who was doing his exercises, heard the conversation between two people and looked up, stunned.

He recognized Shisui.

The Uchiha clan lived together in a designated area in Konoha, so people of the same generation knew each other to some extent. A genius like Shisui was often mentioned by the elders, making it hard not to recognize him.

Obito was puzzled as to why Shisui was here and seemed so familiar with Ryuto.

"Could Yashiro sensei be a distant relative of Shisui?" Obito wondered, coming up with an unlikely guess.

"Sensei, I'm done!"

Just as Obito was lost in thought, Might Guy suddenly shouted energetically.

"So quickly?" Obito was confused. He hadn't taken a break for long, so how had Guy finished already?

Curious, Obito peeked at Guy's work and saw that he had only completed the first three multiple-choice questions, leaving the rest blank.

Obito didn't know what to say, as the whole paper had only ten questions—four multiple-choice and six short answers.

Although Obito didn't know many answers, he at least tried to fill the paper to make it look fuller.

Hearing Guy, Ryuto walked over to check his answers. Out of the three questions Guy attempted, he got two wrong, only getting the first one right.

"I'm sorry, Sensei, I..." Guy mumbled, seeing that he got two out of three questions wrong.

"It's okay, it's normal not to know. If you knew everything, you wouldn't need me as a teacher," Ryuto reassured him with a smile.

"Don't feel bad about a low score. Think of it this way—you have a lot of room for improvement. It's easier to go from five points to twenty-five than from eighty to a hundred."

Guy straightened up at Ryuto's encouragement. For the first time, apart from his father, someone recognized his potential.

"You're right, sensei! I have a lot of room for improvement!" Guy's spirit was instantly uplifted.

Guy listened attentively to Ryuto's explanation, trying his best to understand even the difficult parts.

Next was Obito's turn. He had answered six questions but only got two right.

Ryuto comforted and explained to him the same way he did with Guy.

Afterward, Ryuto handed them two more sheets of similar questions.

"We have to do more?" Obito's eyes were drawn to Shisui practicing Fire Release.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!" Shisui quickly formed the hand seals and spat out a two-meter-tall fireball towards the river.

Seeing the huge fireball, Obito was genuinely impressed, thinking to himself that Shisui was indeed a genius of their clan.

As an Uchiha, Obito also knew the Great Fireball Technique, but compared to Shisui's, his fireball was small and unimpressive.

"Is he another genius like Kakashi?"

Might Guy, who didn't know Shisui, was amazed that such a young boy could use such a powerful jutsu, reminding him of his self-declared rival, Kakashi.

The ninja academy had a three-semester system: the first from April to July, followed by summer break; the second from September to December, followed by winter break; and the third after winter break.

Kakashi had even applied for early graduation during the second semester and passed, showcasing his genius.

Shisui gave Might Guy a similar impression to Kakashi.

Shisui then began practicing the Great Dragon Fire Technique.

Seeing Shisui use another fire jutsu, Might Guy was even more astonished. The academy only taught the basic three techniques, which took him three years to barely master.

Watching Shisui control the fire dragon in the sky, Obito felt envious. If he could perform that jutsu, Rin would definitely be impressed.

"I can see that your form manipulation has greatly improved since the first time. The fire dragon is faster. You must have practiced a lot," Ryuto commented, praising Shisui.

"Most of the credit goes to your training manual, Sensei," Shisui smiled at the compliment.

"Let me demonstrate again."

Ryuto stepped in front of Shisui, quickly gathered and compressed chakra, and spat out three giant fire dragons.

Obito was stunned, realizing that Shisui's fire dragon seemed inferior to Ryuto's.

It felt like Shisui's fire dragon was a snake compared to Ryuto's, which were massive and fast.

The three huge fire dragons flew through the sky, leaving fiery trails that formed large characters.

"Stop staring and get back to your work," Ryuto said with a kind smile, catching Obito off guard.

Obito quickly explained, "I was just taking a break and looking at the sky."

He noticed Might Guy had already resumed his work, reacting much faster.

"Have you seen enough now?" Ryuto asked.

"Yes, yes, I've seen enough," Obito replied, hurriedly picking up his pen.

After a while, Obito couldn't hold back his curiosity and asked, "Ryuto-sensei, what's your relationship with Shisui?"

"We're teacher and student, what else?" Ryuto replied, checking Might Guy's sheet.

"Hehe, I thought so too," Obito laughed, keeping his wild guess to himself.

"Sensei, if I pass, will you teach me that jutsu?" Obito asked, imagining impressing Rin.

"Of course," Ryuto nodded.

"Really?" Obito's face lit up.

"Really."

"Ryuto-sensei, what taijutsu do you know?" Might Guy eagerly asked. Though he found Ryuto's Fire Release impressive, he was focused on taijutsu.

Without a word, Ryuto walked to a large tree, concentrated chakra in his feet, and kicked out a whirlwind kick at high speed.

With a loud crack, the tree fell, kicking up dust.

"Do you like this taijutsu?" Ryuto asked, smiling at Might Guy.
