Chapter 10: Great Deal

Watching Ryuto's swift and clean whirlwind kick, Might Guy's eyes lit up. He felt like he had encountered the taijutsu of his dreams, perfectly matching all his fantasies about taijutsu.

Simple, fast, powerful, and stylish.

"I love it! Please teach me this technique!" Might Guy enthusiastically expressed his satisfaction with the Konoha Whirlwind.

"As long as you like it," Ryuto smiled and nodded.

Might Guy's reaction was within his expectations. After all, this taijutsu was developed by Might Guy himself in the future, expanding into a whole series including techniques like the Great Whirlwind and Steel Whirlwind. It would be strange if he didn't like it.

With Ryuto's promise, both Obito and Might Guy were delighted, finding the usually dreaded test papers much more agreeable.

"Watch me give it my all. This time, I'll get more than four right!" Obito excitedly rolled up his sleeves, looking ready for a battle.

"I must get at least three right, or else I'll run five hundred laps around Konoha tonight!" Might Guy resolved, using self-discipline to push himself to learn the taijutsu of his dreams.

But enthusiasm fades quickly. After a few questions, Obito realized a hard truth.

If pressured, he might be able to release a bigger Great Fireball or throw five shurikens perfectly in a row, but when it came to answering questions, no amount of pressure helped.

Resting his head on one hand and twirling his pen with the other, he found even the swaying leaves irritating, as if they were mocking him for not knowing the answers.

He glanced at Might Guy.

Though they had been classmates for over three years and shared a common friend in Kakashi, they never really played together and their relationship was quite ordinary.

Not strangers, but not quite friends either; just friends of a friend who happened to be in the same class.

Thinking of Might Guy, Obito's first thought was "failure."

Though he was also considered a failure, Obito believed he was just weak in some areas. He was decent at ninjutsu and shuriken throwing, but his theoretical knowledge was particularly poor.

It's just that the other Uchiha were too good, excelling in all subjects, making him, an imperfect Uchiha, seem like a failure.

But Might Guy was different. He was poor in theory and ninjutsu, with most of his courses being at the bottom, making him a recognized failure.

Yet at this moment, Might Guy showed more patience than Obito. Despite being frustrated, he continued to tackle the difficult questions.

Obito recalled an ambitious declaration Might Guy made when he was mocked once.

"I believe that if I keep trying hard, I will become the strongest taijutsu ninja!"

Though Obito wasn't among those mocking him, he didn't believe Might Guy could become the strongest taijutsu ninja when he heard it.

But now, his thoughts were changing. Maybe Might Guy wouldn't become the strongest, but he would likely be stronger than those who mocked him.

"Maybe being friends with him wouldn't be so bad," Obito muttered, thinking they could team up against that annoying Kakashi.

Watching Might Guy persist with his questions, Obito also began writing furiously, racking his brain.

Ryuto, observing this scene, showed a thoughtful expression. He hadn't expected these two together to create such a dynamic effect. Even the usually restless Obito was focusing on his work.

He considered using similar methods to stimulate Obito's training in the future.

After the two finished, Ryuto checked their answers.

Obito got three right, and Might Guy got two.

"Sigh, still not four, but I did my best," Obito sighed, laying exhausted on the desk.

"Adding five hundred laps to my evening run," Might Guy included his punishment in his training regimen.

Ryuto comforted them, "You're actually just five questions away from passing, and you improved by one question in just an hour. Doesn't that make you feel better?"

Obito and Might Guy realized he was right. Passing and learning ninjutsu seemed close at hand.

After comforting them, Ryuto smilingly pulled out two more test sheets.

Obito, seeing the fresh papers and remembering they had three more weekends before the exam, felt a headache coming on.

But he could only pick up his pen and continue. Giving up now would render the previous efforts meaningless.

Meanwhile, Shisui, having recovered his chakra, began another round of Fire Release practice, with fire dragons dancing in the sky, distracting Obito.

"Ryuto-sensei, if we learn your ninjutsu, does that mean we're your disciples like Shisui?" Obito asked after some thought.

"If you want to be, then yes," Ryuto replied ambiguously.

"Hehe, since we're going to be disciples eventually, why not teach us now?" Obito revealed his true motive.

Ryuto cast a skeptical look at him. Though this was part of his plan, Obito's intentions were too transparent.

Obito patted his chest and promised, "Ryuto-sensei, I'm not trying to avoid studying. I just think we can do both together."

He even pulled Might Guy in, "Right, Guy?"

"Sensei, I agree with Obito," Might Guy said, eager to learn the Konoha Whirlwind and challenge Kakashi.

"What if you don't pass?" Ryuto asked instead of agreeing immediately.

"Then you can decide our punishment, and we'll accept it," Obito confidently replied.

"Me too," Might Guy nodded in agreement.

"Hmm..." Ryuto looked conflicted, as if hesitating.

"Ryuto-sensei, trust us. We'll work hard and not let you down," Obito continued to persuade.

"Me too," Might Guy added, clenching his fists.

"Alright then, I trust you'll keep your word. Once you finish this sheet, I'll teach you the Great Dragon Fire Technique and Konoha Whirlwind," Ryuto said, appearing convinced.

"Great! I knew you were the best, Ryuto-sensei. I won't let you down," Obito said excitedly.

He felt today was his lucky day, improving his theory scores and gaining a powerful teacher—a total win.

"Ryuto-sensei, I'll work hard on your taijutsu!" Might Guy earnestly said.

He too felt lucky, finding someone willing to teach him taijutsu.

Seeing these prompts, Ryuto smiled in satisfaction, thinking, "Yes, you're getting a great deal."
