Doraemi was chatting with everyone about the shadow issue when she suddenly remembered something crucial.
She couldn't help but cry out in shock.
Bruce Wayne: What's wrong? You said earlier that to catch Shadow Fiend, you cut off everyone's shadows. What happens if you don't return them after a while?
Doraemi: Then things will go terribly wrong! The shadows will try to replace their owners!
Diana: What?! Shadows can replace their owners? Are you kidding?
Doraemi: I'm not kidding. This gadget doesn't just cut off shadows—it gives them consciousness and makes them obey the owner. But if too much time passes, they'll evolve and gain independent awareness.
Doraemi: If it goes on even longer, the original person will become the shadow, and the shadow will replace the original!
Whitebeard: No way! That dangerous?!
Sengoku: Even Moria's Shadow-Shadow Fruit couldn't pull something like that off. So the idea that a shadow is another soul… might be true?
Dan Moroboshi: So, shadows are like another soul, and your gadget speeds up that soul's evolution?
Bruce Wayne: I don't buy that—it sounds completely unscientific. Isn't it the gadget's fault? Why would something with such a huge risk even exist in your world?
Doraemi: Because it's convenient! Who wouldn't want an identical version of themselves to help with things? As for the hidden dangers… I honestly don't know why they weren't solved…
Diana: Anyway, you better put the shadows back now, or you really will be replaced!
Doraemi: Don't worry. I already returned everyone's shadows while we were chatting. Luckily, none of them went out of control.
Goku: Still, that sounds pretty fun. Your own shadow should be as strong as you, right? It'd be a perfect sparring partner!
Piccolo: That's actually a good idea.
Vegeta: Hmph, for once Kakarot said something smart. For an invincible Super Saiyan like me, my only worthy opponent is… myself!
Goku: Vegeta! You've been quiet so long I thought you were dead!
Vegeta: Hmph, don't jinx me with your crow's mouth! I'm the strongest Super Saiyan in the universe! I won't die that easily—you'll die first!
Vegeta: I've been training hard to master the power of the Legendary Super Saiyan! As long as those SCP things stay out of my world, I couldn't care less! Next time I see you, I'll take you down!
Goku: Heh, don't count on it! I'll be getting stronger too!
Dan Moroboshi: Goku, is it just me, or do you sound excited every time invaders show up?
Piccolo: That's how he is. The stronger the enemy, the more hyped he gets.
As everyone bantered noisily, the screen's voice continued.
[The Shadow Spider appears as a moving patch of shadow resembling a spider of an unknown species.]
[It displays predatory behavior in the shadows of living beings, moving to the nearest viable host's shadow.]
[During predation, the Shadow Spider remains hidden within the host's shadow area, allowing it to grow. A single Shadow Spider can grow up to 15 cm².]
[Once it finishes feeding, it maintains this size. So far, the process has shown no direct harm to the host. However, if it attaches to a non-living shadow, it slowly shrinks back to original size. Only within a living shadow can it grow.]
[Shadow Spiders can move through short, bright, open spaces, fleeing or jumping to another host's shadow.]
[Outside of a shadow, they shrink at 2 cm/s. If trapped in open space long enough, it disappears—assumed dead.]
[Max crawling speed observed at full size is 1 m/s. They can squeeze through gaps wider than 3 mm, but not smaller.]
[While it may appear harmless, Shadow Spiders become dangerous when startled—they will immediately attack the host's shadow.]
[When startled, they often drag their host while attempting to flee to another shaded area, "biting" the host's shadow in the process.]
[A bite causes damage only on bare skin; cotton or thick clothing can offer protection.]
[Bitten individuals go through five progressive stages over the course of one hour. Victims may try to hide their injuries. All affected personnel must report to containment immediately.]
[Stage 1: Immediately after the bite, the spider attacks the host's shadow. Victims report pain in the corresponding area—though no wound is visible. They rapidly become hypersensitive and irritable.]
[Stage 2 (10–15 min): Victim sweats excessively but claims to feel cold. Skin reddens and feels hot to the touch.]
[Stage 3 (25–30 min): Victim becomes aggressive and violent. Speech slurs, motor skills decline. They start attacking those around them.]
[Stage 4 (40–45 min): Skin becomes pale. Body temperature drops to 5–8°C. Victim apologizes, admits feeling awful, and tries to retreat into the dark.]
[Stage 5 (55–60 min): Victim dies, releasing a clear, harmless fluid. Their shadow transforms into a juvenile Shadow Spider (approx. 4 cm).]
[Currently, no cure exists for a Shadow Spider bite. Death does not halt the process—stage five still occurs post-mortem.]
[According to multiple tests, the Shadow Spider reacts to all known human fear stimuli, including loud sounds, visual shocks, sudden movement, host injury, and emotional shifts.]
[In other words, the chance of a Shadow Spider attacking its host is extremely high. All must be recovered immediately.]
