9. Not Easy

Tristan's heart fell into his stomach. The witch's words really shocked him. He almost forgot to breathe!

It wouldn't be funny if he died again. He has adapted to his new life very well.

"What do you mean?" Without realizing it, Tristan raised his voice, attracting the attention of the gardeners and the two knights accompanying him, who were standing 10 meters behind him.

Jane wasn't lying, it was clear in her eyes and the look on her face. Witches are scary. No wonder the system told Tristan to get rid of the woman who looked like Barbie.

"Are you saying that I will die soon? I only have a few weeks or days left in this world?" Tristan was furious. His hands were clenched tightly, and his jaw tightened. He tried his best not to let his emotions get the best of her.

He had already died, and now the witch said it as if he would never live to grow old in this world.

"Forgive me, Your Majesty." Jane hurriedly prostrated herself before the king of the Madigan Kingdom.

Jane's body was shaking violently, which affected her voice. "I apologize profusely, Your Majesty. I am wrong. I didn't mean to offend you."

"What happened, Your Majesty?" The two knights, who were escorting Tristan, approached them.

Their sharp gazes were fixed on the witch woman, and they gave their king a questioning look.

"What did that witch woman do to you, Your Majesty?" asked Aiden, the knight who had been by Tristan Madigan's side since childhood.

Tristan often forgot about the existence of the two knights who walked behind him, following him wherever he went.

Tristan's gaze returned to Jane, who was showing her regret to him and hoping he would forgive her.

Jane bravely revealed what she saw from Tristan. She made Tristan both scared and curious.

Tristan wonders if all witches have the same skills as Jane. If there was a witch who could see a person's soul, maybe he wouldn't have the same courage as Jane; the witch would almost certainly opt not to inform anyone, especially Tristan.

A brilliant idea appeared in Tristan's mind. He could use this incident to complete the third task, but unfortunately he didn't get a reward. It was okay, the most important thing was that he didn't die.

"That witch has been rude to me." Tristan stared intently at Jane, whose body was shaking more and more, and he could hear the witch woman crying. "She said that my soul was a mess, I was like I was between life and death."

The two knights were so shocked that they gripped the hilts of their swords, ready to carry out their king's orders.

"Take that woman to prison," said Tristan firmly and coldly.

"Yes, Your Majesty." The two knights held Jane's arms and then forced the witch woman to stand up.

"Please forgive me, Your Majesty." With tears flowing like a waterfall, Jane tried to ask for mercy from the king in front of her, who looked at her with an expressionless face.

"Don't punish me, I promise I will fight to cure Mr. Madigan." Jane realized she was extremely foolish. She asked a king, who was furious with her, to negotiate, but she was determined to try her luck. Who knows? God could be on her side.

Tristan stiffened.

However, if Tristan ignores Jane's offer, he immediately imprisons Jane. It was not just Jane who was confused, the two knights will also wonder why he cared more about his anger than about Carlos Madigan's recovery.

For two years, the two knights accompanied Tristan Madigan in his search for someone who could invent a medicine to heal his immobile father. They certainly still remember Tristan Madigan's struggle and tenacity.

"Your Majesty." The prime minister walked quickly towards his king, followed by two generals and ten soldiers striding behind him.

The prime minister was shocked to see Jane. Then he, two generals, and 10 soldiers bowed to their king.

Tristan frowned at those who looked afraid of him, and he was even more confused when he heard the Prime Minister's words.

"We apologize, Your Majesty," said the Prime Minister. "We admit we are guilty. We have been negligent. Please forgive us, Your Majesty."

Tristan tilted his head, his brain was busy processing the prime minister's words, but he couldn't find the answer to why the prime minister, two generals, and ten soldiers were begging for his forgiveness.

"What have you all done?" Tristan chose to ask them instead of getting a headache.

"The witch disguised herself as a human to enter your palace, Your Majesty. She hides her identity as a witch. She changed her eye color, hair and dress." A general spoke with a slightly trembling voice in fear.

Tristan looked at Jane, whose arms were being held by two knights. The witch didn't stop crying and still hoped for forgiveness from him.

"We were negligent, Your Majesty. If you cannot forgive us, we are ready to accept your punishment." The two generals and ten soldiers realized that they shouldn't beg for forgiveness.

"Is it true that you did something like that?" Tristan asked Jane.

"That's right, I have hidden my identity." Jane said it in a shaky voice. "I have no ill intentions, Your Majesty. I did it so I could meet you because you needed my help."

"Don't believe her, Your Majesty. She lied to us," said a soldier guarding the gate of the royal palace.

"I believe I can cure your father, Your Majesty." Jane insists that she will give the good news to King Tristan and everyone who loves Carlos Madigan. "Give me a month. Please kill me if I fail."

"She lied to all of us to meet you, Your Majesty," said the prime minister. "I'm sure she has other goals. We can't just believe in witches."

Tristan clenched his fists. He had to have a reasonable reason so that everyone wouldn't suspect why he didn't give Jane the opportunity to make medicine to cure Carlos Madigan.

"You have hidden your identity to enter my palace, and you have the audacity to say that my soul seems to be between life and death," growled Tristan.

"I can't believe you. You've broken my trust." Tristan shook his head. "I can't give the job of caring for my father and treating his illness to someone like you."

Jane cried loudly, but there was no point in crying.

"I imprisoned you in a dungeon in the Arafuro Kingdom. You will spend fifty years alone in a small confinement. You will not interact with anyone."

Everyone was surprised by King Tristan's punishment of Jane.

"If you escape from prison, I will remove the Arafuro Kingdom from the Madigan Kingdom's list of allies."

Tristan announced his decision with a cruel face and a crooked smile. Finally, he could get rid of that woman!
