chapter 5

What was she thinking? What the hell was that girl thinking?

My eyes started to blur as the tears came And the paper I was holding made my fingers numb .

I was swaying, staggering out of the suite.

It was just me in that hallway and I had to hold on to the wall for support as I returned to the elevator, before I could press the button the elevator doors started to open.

Before I could react two hands roughly grasped me.

I didn't see a face but whosoever it was quickly covered my mouth before I could scream.

After everything that was happening today, this was the last thing I needed.

I trashed against the person's arms, my nails scratching at the exposed hands but it was useless against the person.

"Keep still" the voice of a man murmured to me.

A kidnapper?

As any sane person would, I screamed even with his hands clamping my mouth shut.

My feet kicked out and I tried to use my full force for him to let me go.

He proved to me that my struggles were futile as he easily pulled me to one of the rooms and locked us in, with his chest to my back, as he pinned me to the door.

It was more reasons for me to fight, he was way too close, his body heat seeping through my flimsy dress.

The room was dark, and I couldn't see who it was.

Warm breath tickled my skin. "stop all this squirming is kind of turning me on".

And as if to give emphasis, a hot palm grasped my waist.

My whole body turned stone still.

Soft lips pressed against the shell of my ears, and whosoever it was behind me chuckled, low and breathy against my neck, as if entertained by my fear.

It was a few seconds but I felt his arm around my waist loosen.

That was all the chance I needed. I turned around and pushed against his chest with all my might which didn't even bulge the monster in front of me.

A scream escaped my lips and immediately a hand clamped my mouth shut.

The guys laughed like he was playing with me. Whatever evil plan he had in this room, I stood no chance against.

Fat ugly tears started to slide when I saw his hands lift up to my face...

And turned on the lights that wear beside me.

The tears became heavy and were rolling down my cheeks as my eyes started to adjust to the sudden light.

Amused gray eyes were looking down at me and the man loomed over me enjoying my fear.

But then he leaned into my face and said something in a different language but my mind was in shambles to understand it.

"Do you remember me amore"

It was as if recognition suddenly struck me. He was the guy from that day…. These were unmistakably gray eyes.

I looked at him, stupefied. " What are you—" he clamped over my mouth again.

"Shhhh, someone's coming".

From outside the door I could hear soft foot falls and muffled voices that sounded foreign.

But my eyes shifted to the person in front of me.

He had jet black hair and it was falling over his forehead in locks, falling right into those light gray eyes in a shocking contrast of colors.

Thick shaped eyebrows, a prominent jawline and aristocratic roman nose.

His lips were thin and pink, this close I could see the forming stubble.

If I measure correctly he was 6 feet 5, he wore a three piece Armani black suit that looked custom made to fit him.

His physique was well accentuated by the tux and there was something in the way he leaned that screamed danger. Plus a diamond earring that winked at me from his left ear.

I knew filthy rich people when I saw them. He was one. They were the type who carried the air of self importance around them, but he had a mixture of power and danger.

And he was obviously a guest for my run away best friend's party.

"You can touch it if you like"

His voice was heavily injected with innuendo that it gave no misconception to his words.

I must have looked for too long, so I dropped my eyes.

But now, I felt his eyes on me instead as he took me in as a whole.

"Irene snow porter"

I looked up at the mention of my name. He knew me, as I looked at that arrogant face of his,he smirked.

"Are you following me?"

He just laughed and held out his hands for me to shake, I stared dumbly not taking it and he chuckled in a low coarse sound, that sent chills down my body.

He stepped back a little as if finally deciding to set me free. And in the two minutes with him I really did feel like a prisoner.

" Guess I will see you around, mi amore"

"I hope not" I shot back before twisting the door knob and getting out of there.

I was shaken for more than one reason.

Rivers was not in her room so I went back to the organizers room.

There was an addition to the earlier crowd in the room and there stood my parents, Mr and Mrs Ruiz and two more people, a man and woman in their mid fifties which I assume were Mr & Mrs Blackwell the parents of Rivers finance.

They were grim-faced as the looked in my direction.

My mom was the first one to break from the trance and took heavy steps in my direction.

It was too late when I realized those blazing eyes were really intended for me.

"Mom—"

A loud slap resounded in the silence of the room.

My hands shakily went up to where my mom's palm kissed my cheeks.

But my mom wasn't finished, she took my upper arm in a death grip and proceeded to shake me angrily.

And all in the presence of the staff, the Ruiz and the Blackwell's.

"How could you, Irene? Was this why she insisted on our hotel? Because the two of you were planning to humiliate our families? How could you do this to us?!"

My jaw dropped at the accusations. My eyes quickly sought out the staff's face.

But the managers, the make-up artist and the organizers all looked away from the scene.

" Mom, you've made a mis—" nails dug into my skin and I Yelped.

" Don't you dare lie ! The staff told us everything! You gave Rivers your staff pass and told her to leave with our hotel service van! You made these families and our business lose face!"

Shame clouded the face of the staff so they couldn't look at us anymore.

They all knew it wasn't the case! I believed I already knew I wouldn't do anything like that.

But I also knew if no one took responsibility people were going to lose their jobs right away.

So they decided to let me take all the blame even though I was innocent of all that had happened in the short span of time.

I knew right then that it would be useless to explain .

No one would take my side.

And everyone had already drawn lots on who to toss out of the sinking boat into the mouth of the sharks.

That was me.
