14. Not apologizing and saying things that make you panic

Not picking sides?

Grandpa Tang laughed.

This daughter-in-law always liked to support her own family. When Tang Jin was sent away, on the third day, she brought her niece over.

It was only because Tang Yan was particularly fond of this cousin and Wei Yihan was well-behaved and knew how to charm people as a child that he turned a blind eye.

"Didn't I tell you, that thing is no good."

Having been saved by Tang Jin, Tang Micheng was already feeling awkward around her. Then, hearing these inexplicable, unreasonable accusations, he suddenly jumped off the sofa and ran to Tang Jin's side, using his chubby little body to shield her.

He looked at Wei Yihan with dissatisfaction in his gaze.

"How dare you, bringing bad things and then demanding my sister to apologize? Even if an apology is due, it's Grandpa's item, not yours to seek amends for!"

"I, I just wanted to teach you a lesson by telling your aunt, so you'd be more careful. You're too young, what if you got hurt playing with it?"

"Bad things? Wait a minute, I want to know, when you talk about bad things, are you referring to deceiving stuff like Feng Shui metaphysics?"

Tang Yan, who had been listening for a while, suddenly spoke up with a cold look in his eyes, tinged with a hint of amusement.

Mocking Tang Micheng for still believing in such things in this day and age.

"I never deceive people. You, with shallow fortune, are easily misled. Don't think everyone is the same. My advice for you, read more, go out less, especially avoid parties, be wary of psychological shadows, okay?"

Tang Jin, originally sleepy, listened to the commotions casually, rubbing her eyes with her hand, and signaled Tang Micheng to move aside by tugging at the hem of his clothes.

Her sleepy baby voice articulated slowly, Little Baldy's round head and glossy cat-like eyes staring intently at Wei Meng.

"If Second Aunt doesn't believe it, shall I read for you too?"

Little Darling had seen her fair share of drama-filled scenes.

There were many who became enraged out of shame, but sadly, no one had yet managed to withstand her horsetail whisk.

Most defenses crumbled.

"What nonsense are you spouting? How can you curse your cousin?!" Wei Meng flared up upon hearing this.

But Tang Jin didn't care, she carefully scanned Wei Meng's face, counting on her fingers with a sweet, gentle voice, "Second Aunt, your family has two younger brothers, unfortunately, neither of them has the knack for business, the family business suffered heavy losses due to poor decisions, and you're looking for ways to make up for it..."

"How is that possible? Don't talk nonsense; there's nothing wrong with our family," Wei Meng interrupted, amused.

"I haven't finished yet. Your brothers haven't dared to tell you about it, but soon they won't be able to conceal it any longer. Think about it, aren't you lately introducing potential matches to your cousin? His brows have a greenish-black tinge to them, Jinjin reminds you just this once, this is no good match."

Wei Meng's expression shifted slightly.

Tang Yan was protectively standing by Wei Yihan and scoffed at Tang Jin's words, but noticing his mother's reaction, he paused, clearly unaware of the situation, "What?"

"Your maternal family is really introducing someone to Xiao Yan? He's only eighteen this year!"

Grandpa Tang had been watching the drama from the side, curious to see how capable his Little Darling was, but hearing this, he found it utterly preposterous.

"They were just talking..." Wei Meng's brazen confidence died down instantly, running out of bravado.

Confronted with Grandpa Tang and her own son's gaze, Wei Meng felt panicked, thinking Tang Jin was indeed bad luck.

Picking up such talk from Taoist temples, she's bound to swindle and deceive and end up in jail when she's older!

Wei Meng couldn't maintain her facade, still unwilling to forgive and forget, she stood up.

"If you also think it's no problem for this five-year-old child to break antiques, spoiling the brat, then you can dote on her. Don't regret it when there's trouble later, we're leaving, let's go back."

"You're right, Wei Yihan is also fourteen, her studies are more important, she should stay and study well at the Wei family from now on, coming over here may not be convenient anymore."

Now she knows how to complain, expecting Tang Jin to apologize to her?

As if he, old and senile, can't see through a little girl's petty schemes.

Wei Yihan froze, her eyes instantly reddening, "Grandpa Tang, that's not what I meant."

Tang Jin then propped her little hands on the sofa, staring non-stop at the Jade Buddha on Wei Meng's neck, knitted her brows, and shook her little head.

"Second Aunt, have you been feeling irritable lately? You should take down that Buddha and see if it's been tampered with. It's best not to leave the ground or go to high places in the next couple of days. The malign influence cannot be completely neutralized, but it can be lessened."

Little Milk Bun spoke earnestly.

After speaking, he sighed softly.

Each one is more worrisome than the last.

Tang Micheng's face changed, and his plump body hurried over, reaching out to grab the Jade Buddha around her neck with an anxious voice, "Mom, everything Tang Jin said is true, don't you doubt it; take this off first."

"What are you doing? I think you're really brainwashed! To what extent have you pursued your studies?!"

Wei Meng pushed Tang Micheng away, and in an instant, her face, which had always been loving, became especially twisted.

"You're not as diligent in your studies as your brother, not as good in handling things as him; look at how fat you've become, and now you've even learned to lie."

Tang Micheng was stunned for a moment; his eyes drooped down as he pursed his lips silently.

After Wei Meng made that remark, she stopped, a flash of helplessness crossing the depths of her eyes.

In that moment of quiet, Tang Yan also felt the absurdity. Tang Micheng had always been doted on as he grew up; this was the first time he had heard such words.

"Mom, what are you saying? He's only in elementary school."

Tang Yan extended his hand to pull Tang Micheng close.

But Tang Micheng stepped back, hanging his head without a word.

Never believing in him, always believing in Wei Yihan, and now saying things like this, she still thought he was definitely lying.

Who is lying?

If it weren't his own mother, he wouldn't bother to deal with her, okay?

The height of summer, bright and sunny, dazzling and cheerful.

Only half of it fell upon Tang Micheng, as if tearing the space into two.

The next second, the surroundings brightened, something warmer and softer than sunlight grabbed his hand.

Blinding before his eyes—it was Tang Jin's Little Baldy!

"Although Brother is a bit slow and not very obedient, he's still better than you."

Jinjin puffed up her cheeks and muttered under her breath, "Six of one, half a dozen of the other, yet you mock. Is that interesting?"

But let it be.

Jinjin stood with one hand on her hip, soft and squishy, yet carrying her own unique little pride.

"Jinjin doesn't tell lies, very reliable. Brother didn't lie either, believe it or not."

Grandpa Tang looked at Tang Jin.

A five-year-old, at this moment embodying pride and a special kind of tenderness.

He felt a sense of pride.

This one-of-a-kind Little Milk Baby, he was theirs!

Even though she had left the old Tang Family house, Wei Meng was still furious.

She just didn't understand why Tang Jin was learning Feng Shui Metaphysics, such trickery, and not only did Grandpa Tang not stop it, he seemed to take pleasure in it.

The car entered the Wei family's company; today was the day for Wei Meng to inspect the company.

Taking the elevator to the third floor, she followed the business manager around for two rounds and became a bit distracted again, inevitably thinking about her younger son. The more she thought, the more regretful she became.

How could she have lost control like that and said those words?
