Chapter 8 Bai Yingying's Provocation

Qiao Si's gaze was somewhat bewildered as he stared at the half-stick of incense between his fingers. Through the smoke, he saw her smile, which was like a burst of sunshine that made it hard for him to open his eyes.

He quickly gathered his thoughts and continued to look at the documents on his lap; he wouldn't be so easily beguiled. His hand unconsciously slipped the half-stick of incense into his pocket.

"Master, Little King Kong is calling."

Right after getting off the plane, Ye Xiao's phone rang, causing her to frown slightly.

Little King Kong had changed her ringtone back to its "intellectually challenged" sound again. Feeling the stares from the people around her, she wished she could gouge out their eyes.

What are you looking at? Haven't you seen an "intellectually challenged" pet making a call to its boss?

"Master, have you arrived yet? I landed in Yun City half an hour ago. Why is this human airplane so slow?"

Outside the Yun City Airport, a green parrot was making a phone call on top of a camphor tree, while a little boy licking a lollipop stared in astonishment below.

"Stay put on that tree. I'll be there shortly."

Having said that, Ye Xiao hung up the phone.

From afar, she spotted the man waving to her—it was Ye Cheng, one of those brothers that Jian Ru claimed were good-for-nothing who worked for others.

According to Jian Ru, her several brothers didn't seem to lead particularly impressive lives, laboring for others. However, looking at Ye Cheng from a distance, he seemed quite handsome, attracting the gaze of many girls around him.

"Are you Xiao Xiao?"

Ye Cheng looked at the girl before him. Although he had already seen her picture, he felt something was different from the photo, but he couldn't quite pinpoint what.

"I am Ye Xiao. You must be my big brother, right?"

Ye Xiao smiled slightly, tilting her head as she looked at him with bright, clear eyes.

That sweet call of "big brother" instantly melted Ye Cheng's heart.

Having learned a bit about Ye Xiao from Bai Yingying, he didn't have high expectations for his sister. Yet seeing her in person was a delightful surprise.

His little sister was so cute, with a sweet smile and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth voice. There was a resemblance between their eyes and brows; at a glance, she was unmistakably his sister.

"Big brother."

Another sweet call of "big brother" came, sugary to the point of cloying.

A gust of wind carried a figure running from behind Ye Xiao. In the next second, a girl latched onto Ye Cheng's arm.

"Yingying, what are you doing here?"

Ye Cheng glanced at Bai Yingying and then back at Ye Xiao, sensing the atmosphere growing somewhat delicate.

"Big brother, how could you forget? Didn't I tell you over the phone yesterday that I'd be coming back to Yun City today? Weren't you here specially to pick me up?"

Bai Yingying bit her lip, showing a look of disappointment in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, I forgot, big brother won't do that again."

Ye Cheng affectionately ruffled Bai Yingying's hair.

"Then I'll forgive big brother this once."

Bai Yingying leaned on Ye Cheng's shoulder, her arms entwined with his, a triumphant smile on her face that seemed to be flaunting her relationship with Ye Cheng to Ye Xiao.

Ye Xiao kept a smile on her face. Bai Yingying had clearly seen her but pretended not to, acting overly familiar with Ye Cheng as if to show that he was her real big brother. It was an obvious provocation, one that would've earned her a twisted neck in the past.

Though twisting her neck was now impossible with the system's limitations, it didn't mean she couldn't play along with Little Green Tea's game.

"Big brother, is this lady my sister? But I've never heard that I have a sister."

With a faintly blushing face and a shy, timid look in her eyes, which complemented her inherently harmless and pure face, Ye Xiao portrayed the epitome of vulnerability.
