Chapter 7: Don't be afraid, I have medicine

"You have a severe case of insomnia, barely sleeping more than two hours a day, and even then plagued by nightmares. It's related to your childhood experiences. You went through something terrifying, and all these years you haven't been able to let go, still living in the shadow of that horrible past."

Ye Xiao looked into his dark eyes, riddled with red blood vessels and the faint shadow of dark circles beneath them. An ordinary person would have had severe panda eyes by now, but this man simply seemed a bit weary. His physical constitution was superior to others', but even the best body is still mortal after all, and without change, he'd surely die young.

Li Xing watched the girl's confident and complacent smile with shock on his face. He thought she was courting death but she had actually hit the nail on the head.

Fourth Master indeed suffered from severe insomnia, and it was true that his sleep never exceeded two hours a day. Over the years, he had consulted experts from home and abroad, who had proposed many treatment plans, but none were of any damn use, and the situation kept getting worse.

"Who are you, how do you know this?"

Qiao Si's body tensed slightly, a murderous look flitted through his eyes.

He hadn't gotten angry when she said he was sick in the head just now, but now was different; he disliked this feeling of being seen through, as if a pair of eyes were intrusively peering into the dark abyss of his heart.

Ye Xiao looked at the man, who now truly resembled a fierce animal whose tail had been stepped on, looking quite vicious indeed.

"Who am I? I'm your ancestor."

Ye Xiao said with a laugh.

Her voice was gentle and sweet, even if she were to utter the nastiest, most vulgar swear words, this tone and smile would make it hard for anyone to be angry with her.

Li Xing was completely petrified. Daring to say she was Fourth Master's ancestor, that statement flipped around would mean she was calling him a grandchild.

To treat Yun City's powerful Fourth Master as a grandchild, the little girl had guts for sure, adept at courting death.

He had seen people courting death, but never someone so adept at it as her, likely won't be able to wrap up without a casualty.

"Don't worry, I will save you."

The moment Ye Xiao's sweet voice sounded, it was as if a spring breeze had blown through, instantly dispersing the gloom in Qiao Si's eyes.

She said she would save him, and it was the first time he had heard someone say they would save him; it sounded somewhat pleasant to the ear.

She was just a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl, on what basis did she confidently say she could save him, especially when he had already given up on himself?

"I have half a stick of incense here; take it back with you and light it, I guarantee you'll sleep well."

Ye Xiao took out a half-used stick of incense from the small canvas bag she carried with her. She had made it on a whim during a bout of insomnia, and though it was useless to her, it was a lifeline for this man.

If he went on like this, he certainly wouldn't live past five years. After all, not everyone can survive without sleep.

"Here, take it—no charge. I'm a good person; I do good deeds without expecting anything in return."

Ye Xiao pushed the incense stick into his hand, then turned to continue reading her book seriously.

The moment she had called herself a good person, she felt so sick she wanted to vomit. Having played the villain for thousands of years, she was now being forced into the role of a good person by a broken system, and the feeling was utterly disgusting. The Main God better wash its neck and wait for her; she planned to kick off its dog head and use it as a ball.

Galaxies away, a girl was holding a large bouquet of Starlight Roses, proposing to some celestial chief. And at that very crucial, ridiculous moment, she sneezed mightily—wondering which darling was praising her as the cutest in the entire universe.
