Chapter 34 Carl and Glenn

"Karl, you really shouldn't have come."

"Glenn, drive carefully. We have to find them as soon as possible. There are more and more zombies in the city."

"Karl, don't get out of the car later. I'll go find them. You must not run around. You don't want to kill us, right?"

"Oh my god, Glenn, why are you as long-winded as my mother? I know all this. Since I'm here, I naturally want to help you. I will never do anything rash."

In a seven-seater commercial vehicle, Glenn was in the driving seat and Carl was in the passenger seat. There were only Glenn and Carl.

Dale didn't come, not because he didn't want to come, but because he couldn't come. If Dale left, who knows who would have driven the RV away.

"I really don't know how you convinced your mother. It's hard to imagine."

"Indeed, it's hard for me to imagine how to convince her."

"What do you mean by that?"

"What I meant was that I didn't know how to convince her, so I chose not to convince her and just walked away."

"Oh my God, Carl, why didn't you tell me earlier!" Glenn slammed on the brakes and stopped the car.

Carl shrugged helplessly, "Because if I tell you it's too early, you'll send me back, and now, there's no turning back.

Of course, you can also choose to turn back now, but this means that you have given up on them. In the time it takes to go back and forth, I'm afraid they will…"

Glenn slapped the steering wheel. "If your mother knew, she would kill me. My God, are you really a child?"

Carl reminded weakly, "Glenn, if you want to scold me, you can continue, but can you start the car first? Time is very important to Sean and the others."

"Shit!" Glenn started the car helplessly and continued moving forward.

"Don't worry, my mother wouldn't dare to kill anyone. Besides, it's not your fault. I just want to help."

"I think the biggest help you can do us is if you stay safely in the RV." Glenn complained weakly.

"Glenn, what do you think is the difference between adults and children?" Carl said calmly, "It's nothing more than strength and wisdom."

  "Wh…what do you mean?"

"Do you think I'm stupid? When I say stupid, I'm not just stupid, but I mean like other kids, naive and ignorant of the world."

"This..." Glenn couldn't put it into words for a moment. Carl seemed really different from other children.

"So, in terms of wisdom, I am no different from an adult. This wisdom includes a lot of things, such as how to behave in society, how to judge situations, and whether or not to stay calm when faced with things... I am no worse than you adults in these aspects."

"As for strength, I'm much inferior to you, but..." Carl took out Sean's Glock.

"With him, the definition of strength becomes blurred. An adult can kill an adult with one shot, and a child can also kill an adult with one shot. All I need to do is pull the trigger."

  "This..." Glenn was stunned.

"So, you still think I can't help you? Maybe I can shoot better than you, do you believe it, Glenn?"

"Okay, I admit that what you said makes sense, but the facts are not like that."

"But you can't find any point to refute me, right? Then what I said is true."

Glenn smiled helplessly, "Tell your mother what you just said, maybe you can convince her."

  "No, I can't convince you."

"How can you be so sure? I was almost convinced by you."

"It's just that you're easier to talk to. To put it simply, you're easier to fool." Carl smiled, "It's just a joke, don't mind it.

The real reason is that parents never listen to their children's reasoning, even if they know that what their children say makes sense."

"Well, I feel deeply about this. Let's end our chat here."

From this location, you can hear gunshots not far away, and they are very dense.

Glenn stopped the car, left the engine running, and began to check his equipment.

Carl loaded the Glock, turned on the safety, and placed two spare magazines in a convenient position.

  "Uh uh uh..."

As soon as the car stopped, several scattered zombies pounced on the car, and their disgusting faces stuck to the windows, hitting them continuously.

"Glenn, I think we should go with you."

Glenn had already packed his equipment, "No, didn't we already discuss this?"

Carl pointed to the car window and said, "But do you think it's really safe to leave me here? The sound of the engine will attract more zombies."

"Shit!" Glenn said helplessly, "Okay, but don't shoot randomly, follow me closely!"

Glenn grasped the dagger, suddenly opened the car door, kicked a zombie down, then grabbed another zombie by the clothes and stabbed the dagger into the zombie's head.

As for Carl, he sat obediently in the car. Carl knew that although what he said sounded nice, if he didn't use a gun, he might not be a match for an ordinary zombie.

After Glenn dealt with the zombies, Carl opened the car door and got out.

"Should we follow the sound of gunfire?" Carl asked.

Glenn nodded. "We can see the police station just around the corner. They're probably exchanging fire nearby."

"Let's go." Carl nodded, holding the Glock with both hands, and looking around vigilantly.

Glenn walked up to Carl and said, "Follow me, and follow closely. I may not be able to take care of you. If anything happens, you must call me."

"Okay, I know it's dangerous here, I know what to do and what not to do, so let's do it."

Carl's hand holding the gun was shaking a little, he was nervous, but more excited.

Glenn's gun was on his waist and he was holding a dagger. Glenn had never fired a gun, so a dagger was more reliable than a gun.

Glenn crouched slightly and walked forward slowly, his steps were light and alert.

Carl followed Glenn three or four meters behind him. Compared to Glenn, Carl was more nervous.

This was Carl's first time to come to such a dangerous place, not to mention that there was only Glenn by his side.

With Glenn's fighting power, he would probably have to pounce on any more zombies.

"There are zombies." Carl reminded softly.

The street was wide, but there were not many zombies. The occasional zombies that appeared came out from buildings or alleys.

Glenn nodded and looked at the side of the street. If the three zombies attacked him at the same time, he might not be able to deal with them without getting hurt.

In the battle with zombies, getting injured means death.

Glenn whispered, "Let's run. The zombies are not fast. They can't catch up with us. You have to watch your step. Don't be too anxious. Don't fall."

"Don't worry." Carl nodded. This is not a TV drama, so how could there be so many falls on the ground?

Glenn hesitated, but took Carl's hand and started running.

Carl was very nervous. There were zombies behind him and the gunshots in front of him were getting closer and closer. But under the tension, Carl's mind became clearer.

Finally, Carl and Glenn ran around the corner.

  Then they froze.
