Darren looked down at the egg that he had been personally looking over the past couple days. It had been in the incubator the whole time and was slowly being infused with essence while Darren watched the timer count down to it's hatching.
[Time until hatched: 1 minute 11 seconds]
Darren watched as the timer reached zero and a small crack appeared on the top of the spirit egg. Then another on the side of the egg and another just below it made Darren increasingly excited.
Soon Darren stared at a tiny hairless fox in the palm of his hand who just started back with eerily bright green eyes. To Darren's surprise the little thing had come out with it's eyes open and only a bit of juice on him. Turns out he was so hungry inside he decided to eat it.
Darren gagged at the thought but then got to inspecting the little fox.
" Oh, and I think ill name you shadow since your undead attuned." the fox stared at him in confusion and slight sleepiness but that was alright; he only need the system to hear him.
[Name: Shadow]
[Gender: Male]
[Rank: 0]
[Daos: Death]
[Bloodline: Lord of the Undead(0.001%)]
The next couple weeks were spent training the fox and developing it into his very own guard fox. He also gave the fox a bunch of system bought spirit fruit and other valuable items and his hard work was paying off.
The little fox had grown quite a bit taller only after a couple weeks and it had started growing pitch black hair due to it's Dao. Darren also got the fox one of these:
[Intermediate Attunement Array]
[Price: 700 gold]
This item was extremely expensive and Darren was forced to harvest again and sell all of it. Even after that he only barely had enough to buy the item. The reason for this purchase was because the item was able to attune a certain area to a desired element with the power of a Essence Stone. This was Darren's improvised cultivation chamber for Shadow.
Due to this Shadow was able to increase it's power and it even learned to form condensed tendrils of death essence. Darren continued to train these tendrils to be more condensed and stronger in structure and slowly but surely Shadow was becoming a true monster.
This is what Darren spent about half his time on. The other half of his time was spent observing the changes in his departments. With quite a few more people in each department, the quests were getting finished very fast and Darren could clearly make out the most useful of his eight departments.
Animal Research Department and Engineering Department were both extremely useful to his people. Each granted access to specific items that could be purchased from the Department store and this was definitely showing it's merit. On the Animal Research Department, members had access to purchase different spirit animals that they could contract and research.
This led to the entire department becoming a dog and cat research base because no one seemed to want anything else as a pet. He could see that each member was training their respective Spirit Animal and continuing on the quests. Darren felt that this department could be in charge of all his habitats too when they had enough members. For now though he would wait until the Department was level two.
This was Darren's life for quite some time to come.
