Expansion

Darren knew that it would take a while for the Recruitment Mode to bear any fruit so in the meantime he decided to talk with the only Engineer he had.

Her name was Samantha Ravkef and she was an older woman with a thin face and slightly grey hair. She was the village's smartest member by far and had been the one designing everything in the former village to make everyone's lives easier.

Previously some of her notable inventions were entire irrigation systems made from hollowed out bamboo to water their crops. She was also the inventor of all the fishing poles in the town. Considering she had no previous formal education, she could be considered a genius.

He had built the Engineering Department building over near her house on the northern side of his land, which had recently just doubled in size due to the upgrade of his territory.

Arriving in front of her cottage, Darren knocked three times and took a small step back to wait. A moment later, shuffled footsteps could be heard from inside and the door opened a second later.

"Ah! Lord Darren. How nice to see you. What can I do for you?" Samantha addressed Darren politely and asked.

Darren didn't hesitate and got straight to the point. " I want to personally invest in your Department in the beginning as speeding up it's development is going to help me lots in the sort run. I am going to give you 100 gold to buy whatever you need to advance the Engineering Department and all you need to do is work hard."

Darren had decided on this after reading about the benefits an upgraded Engineering Building could provide to his territory.

[Name: Engineering Department Building]

[Leader: Samantha Ravkef]

[Level: 1]

[Upgrade Requirements: 3 completed quests, 100 gold]

[Transferring 100 gold to Samantha Ravkef?]

[Confirmed! Transferring now!]

Darren also read that after upgrading the building to level two he would get a unique opportunity to completely reorganize his farm with no repercussions. This was massive as Darren realized that he was limiting his farm harvest with such a small field. By reorganizing all his buildings and animals to a residential section, he would leave a bunch of free land for his farm.

For now though he would wait until Samantha finished her three quests.

" I understand, Ill be sure to complete the quests as soon as possible." Samantha agreed readily as this meant she would get system rewards too being the leader of the building and all.

Walking back toward his cottage Darren was surprised to receive another three messages simultaneously. Opening them, he found two of them to be related and the third just happened to appear right this instant. He decided to go through the two related messages first.

[Congratulations! Your Spirit Dog Chuck has reached level 2!]

[Quest: Cultivate 3 Spirit Animals to level 2 in your Sanctuary(2/3)]

Seems like Chuck reaching level 2 triggered a quest. This quest should be very easy too. It was just a matter of waiting as he knew either Nina or Sherryl would follow closely behind.

Closing the the notifications Darren opened the last one.

[Recruitment Applications received! 54 new unread Applications.]

Darren was initially surprised by the number as he had just put up the Recruitment Mode so there shouldn't be a response this quick however after looking at the applications, Darren found out the reason. They all had one aspect of their status's in common.

[Faction: Yuka Village]

' I wonder why I seem to attract a lot of villagers. I haven't met anyone from a big city and I will have over 70 members soon.' Darren thought as he read over each applicant's Information.

Of the 54 villagers, there were 7 with classes and even one with a bloodline. The different classes shown were:

[Class: Spirit Animal Tamer]

[Class: Archer]

[Class: Architect]

[Class: Blacksmith]

Four of the class holders had the class Spirit Animal Tamer while the other three had unique classes. Darren was excited to see a new Architect Class and he even realized he had never seen a Blacksmith Class, only a subclass.

Reading a bit more into the background of the members, Darren understood that their situation was a bit unique. They were previously part of successful planet integration with nothing initially happening and their village progressing normally through the system. However about 1 year and a half in the process, something happened with their planet and it lost it's integrity.

They were then forced to give up their territory, which was previously level 3, and head to a Mass Recruitment Station. They must have seen Darren's request for Animal Care oriented classes and thought that this place would be a good place for their village to advance their 4 Spirit Animal Tamers. The Class holder with the bloodline was precisely one of these 4.

[Name: Jack Albus]

[Cultivation: 3]

[Class: Spirit Animal Tamer]

[Daos: Life, Earth]

[Bloodline: World Tree Serpent(0.0001%)]

Darren understood that this was by far the most powerful bloodline he had ever seen and he was very excited so see what this would turn into.

After looking over all the info he decided to start the initialization right now.

[Assigning those without a class with sub-classes]

[Complete! Teleporting new Members]

Darren arrived at the teleporter just in time to see the first person to walk out followed by many more. Even before the fifth person walked out the teleporter the one who walked out first looked at Darren and greeted him.

" Hello, I am Jack Albus and am the village chief for my faction. I assume you are Darren Jones the owner of Wuguay Farm?" Jack stretched his hand in front of Darren in a motion to shake hands.

Darren shook his hand and replied kindly. " Indeed that's me. Welcome to my farm! I hope we can join forces to become a lasting force in this world." Jack smiled and then the two started discussing different aspects of how to Integrate their new force.

Darren while discussing was looking over the new distribution of his departments.

[Plant Research Department: 15]

[Animal Research Department: 20]

[Alchemy Department: 4]

[Blacksmithing Department: 6]

[Fishing Department: 14]

[Hunters Department: 15]

[Engineering Department: 2]

Darren looked at his screen in satisfaction and couldn't wait for Samantha to finish her tasks that way he could truly start to profit and expand.

After everyone from the new village found a suitable spot to live for now and built their homes, Darren decided to call another meeting but this time with his leaders only this time.

Once everyone was gathered he started immediately and to be as direct as possible.

" Ok. Now that everyone is here I just want to say that we will be getting a new influx of members starting tomorrow and this has certain implications for how I wanna run this place in the future." Darren paused and took a breath then continued " Over the next coming months there will be a massive influx of members and thus new talent. I want to give these talents a way to progress and have a leading role through their own hard work. In three months there will be a new selection of leaders based on contribution through quests and talent within the department. I want to do this so that we have the best possible person in each Department leading."

After Darren was finished speaking, he looked to gage the reactions of his audience and was not too surprised to find the ugly expressions on a couple leaders faces. However, no one spoke up to object since he had absolute power here. The smart one's even agreed and understood this was the best way to allow the talents in his faction to grow to their potential while also giving incentive to those without talent.

" Additionally. I will be reorganizing the farm in a week or so into a residential area and farm area so be prepared to move." there was a less than appreciative response from the leaders and he dismissed them a minute later. This was something that had to be done and they would all be appreciative later when he actually had the money to grow.
