Act I | part 7

"What's wrong?" Muttered Lynn upon being woken up. He tucked the hair covering his face behind his ear, taking a second for his eyes to adjust.

"W-well, you see... three is this s-spider, that... it's actually many spiders and... they are venomous... and... they are crawling everywhere -" Ava started spurting out, without even thinking. "C-could you do something about it?"

He gave her a confused look, as if to take time to process the information.

"... sure, I'll go find a repellent. Stay here while I take care of it."

She sat on the bed as he left, lighting a candle to get a better look around. There were books from various authors, ranging from modern literature to classics, to books about science. There were many in different languages as well. Placed on top of the nightstand next to his coffin was a Brothers Grimm compilation of tales. She tried reading it, but it was written in old English, which to her as foreign as latin.

An hour or so passed until Lynn came back. He had an annoyed expression on his face, his hand was bandaged up to the elbow. There were also a couple of small red burn marks on his face, which were already almost healed. Ava was immediately  washed over by guilt upon realizing for why that was.

"You didn't mind telling me that you removed the sun-blockers from your room before I entered "he said with a disappointed look. "You must really hate me..."

"It wasn't on purpose... I'm sorry." She apologized profusely. "I'll make it up to you, I swear."

"You might start with actually talking to me. You barely look me in the eye this past two weeks."

Ava let out a sigh and started searching for ways to change the topic. Her eyes once again moved towards the book on the nightstand.

"I didn't take you for the type to read fairytales." She said, while making a half-smile, glancing at the book.

"Why? Because it's for children? Good fiction doesn't have an age limit, plus no matter how bad the character starts off there is always a happily ever after at the end of the story. Something you can't say about real life." He mumbled, flipping through the pages.

"I sometimes wonder if there was someone to read me fairytales before bedtime. I only remember little snippets from my childhood while I lived in the research facility."

"What's the last thing you remember?"

"Waking up in a pool of blood. All my siblings and the research team were dead, torn to shreds. I suppose a normal kid would be traumatized from the sight, but the only thing I felt back then was confusion. Like for a moment I was put into someone else's body. The next thing I remember was being put in a foster home, but I ran away after my parents went missing. I've been switching jobs ever since then and... dealing with awful people." The girl started at the floor the whole time, still afraid to meet his gaze. She bit her lip nervously, then continued."You know what's funny? Up until now you were the only one to show me some semblance of kindness. But then you just had to go ahead and ruin it..." there was a tremor in her voice.

"And yet you are still here." He said calmly, moving closer to her. "I said it before, the door is always open. You are no prisoner of mine. You can leave anytime you want." He lifted her chin with the arm that was still burned from earlier. "But you don't want to, do you?"

His enchanting green eyes started at hers, making her unable to look away. Her legs grew weak, heart started pounding again, same as it did that night. She didn't say a word. Her head was empty. She felt as vulnerable as a deer staring into the headlights.

"I didn't bring you here because I wanted you for your blood. I want you for you." He placed his thumb on her bottom lip. "I like you Ava... and I need to know if you feel the same way."

"I... do." The words left her mouth before she could even process them.

She closed her eyes as he leaned forward, expecting his lips to touch hers, but instead she felt a pat on her shoulder. He said quietly: "That's good to know" as he walked back to his coffin.

Ava blinked twice, looking perplexed.

"If it's a kiss you want, you should come and take it from me. I don't want you accusing me of things again." He said with a smile.

Before he could even move the lid, he felt his hand being pulled and in the next moment their lips were locked together. The kiss deepened.

Ava started unbuttoning his shirt, ignoring all qualms she had beforehand, even though she had never done anything like this before. The feeling of shame was quickly washed away with arousal as he moved his lips down her neck. His hand tucked underneath her blouse, trying to undo her bra.

The muscles on her abdomen tightened as he slowly moved his fingers further down and underneath her skirt. Before she knew it, he was on top of her. His long dark hair covered her chest as he was gently biting on her nipples. His slender fingers curled inside her, sending her trembling body to the verge of climax.

Once satisfied with the dripping wetness, he removed his trousers and entered her. She bit her lip from the initial pain, sinking her nails into his back as he went deeper. Her mind going blank as the pain turned into pleasure. The walls soon echoed from her moaning, getting louder with each thrust.

Her screams made every cell in his body long for her even more. The sensation of her burning skin against his was enough to drive him insane, and the tightness of her virgin body nearly sent him into ecstasy.

He wrapped his fingers around hers as he finished, letting out a faint groan as he released his breath.

"How did this even happen?" Ava faintly whispered to herself, her legs still shaking from the adrenaline.

"Do you regret it?" He asked with a smug smile because he already knew the answer.

"Not for a second."

"Shall we go for a second round then?"
