Act II | part 15

Lynn returned to the living room, covered in blood. His expression cold and gloomy. He placed the knife in the sink and washed his hands before turning to Ava.

"The deed is done" he said calmly. "I let them go just as you told me. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll need to go take a shower."

"I'll join you." She stood up, waking towards him.

"No." He held his palm up, as if to give her a sign to not get any closer. "I don't want you to get dirty. Just wait for me in the bedroom."

"Is everything okay? You look sad."

"I'm just tired darling." He gave her a smile, while dusting off his shirt. "It's been a long night, I'll feel better after I get some sleep."

Lynn turned on the tap to fill up the bathtub, while removing his clothes. The water slowly turning red from the blood as he laid in. Thinking back of the screams from the couple he just maimed brought a smile to his face. He was suddenly reminded of his past, and all the years spent in agony after being turned into a vampire. No matter how hard he tried to disassociate with the person he was, this was still a part of him, and the joy he received from torturing those two was a proof of that.

He promised himself he would never hurt anyone again, but for Ava he was ready to break that promise. Even if in turned him back into the monster he used to be.

As he looked at his reflection in the water and the little droplets of blood that fell down, making ripples that distorted his face, a picture from the past flashed before his eyes. A picture from when he wandered the streets like a stray dog, looking for the next victim to satisfy his unquenchable blood thirst.

Twelve years of his life he spent lost, trying to find a meaning to his suffering before seeing a light in the endless tunnel. Before he met with Edwin.

"I brought you a change of clothes." His thoughts were instantly shifted towards Ava's sweet voice. "May I come in?"

"Just a second." He quickly finished scrubbing the rest of the blood off and put on a towel before opening the door.

"It's not like I haven't seen you naked." She giggled while handing him the clothes. "I never properly thanked you for taking care of my foster parents. I don't know what is like to torture someone and would have probably never done it myself even after all they did to me. So, thank you." She gave him a hug, warming his cold body that was still wet from the bath.

"No need to thank me darling. You know that I would do anything for you."

Her cheeks grew red as she looked up at him, meeting his bright green eyes. He could feel her heartbeat getting faster.

"Um... about earlier. If you really want to, I can let you suck my blood while we do it."

"Actually darling, I was thinking maybe this time you could get down on your knees and do some of the sucking." He placed his palm on her head, and she immediately got the memo.

She kissed his neck, slowly moving her lips lower to his pecs and then to his abdomen, making his breath get heavier as she removed the towel. He leaned back once he felt her warm mouth being wrapped around his thing, gently moving back and forth. Hitting the back if her throat each time, made him feel like he was going to explode.

Consumed with passion, he pulled her away, pinning her against the wall. Without further delay he lifted up her skirt and ripped off her panties, before thrusting inside her, making her wail. His rough movements caused her more pain than pleasure, but he didn't care. He bit her neck the same way a wolf tears at its prey, sinking his fangs deep inside the muscle fibers, causing her to twitch.

"Lynn... you're hurting me" she whimpered, while helplessly trying to push him away, but he couldn't hear her.

He kept going, overwhelmed with bloodlust. His ears were filled with static. The white in his eyes turned black. The veins on his face started popping out as his mind went completely blank. He tore off a piece of her flesh while feasting on her. Blood started gushing out when he pulled away, covering everything in red. Her motionless body stooped to the ground like a lifeless doll, with her eyes still wide open.

As if for a moment time had stopped as the vampire stared in disbelief at what he had just done. At that point he was different from the rogues only by appearance. Every last spec of humanity he believed he had being lost after seeing the bloody mess that was left from his lover.

"Lynn..." a voice was calling to him from the void. "Lynn can you hear me?"

All of a sudden Ava was standing right before him, body still intact. She was holding his face in her palms, staring at his eyes with a look filled with concern. The scene from before vanished in the blink of an eye as he finally snapped back to his senses.

"W-what happened?" He asked, still confused.

"That's what I'm asking myself. I just gave you a hug and the next thing I know is you going into a trace-like state for a minute of so."

Was this all a hallucination? He took a look around him, realizing none of this was real. His brain was playing a nasty trick on him, or perhaps giving him a warning for what was about to come if he gave into his violent desires.

"I lied to you..." Lynn said quietly, avoiding her eyes as if he was ashamed.

"About what?" She raised an eyebrow.

"The number of people I've killed is well into the thousands." His tone was serious. "I wasn't always the person you see..."

"It doesn't matter." She smiled at him reassuringly. "It's all in that past, we've all done things we regret."

"You can't even begin to imagine the carnage I've caused, darling. There have been times that I couldn't control myself. What if I end up hurting you?"

"What of it? I am immortal remember?"

"There is no such thing as immortality. Even the strongest vampire can be killed once you rip their heart out. Please don't take it so lightly."

"What's gotten into you all of a sudden? You seem scared."

"I am..." he paused. "I'm scared of myself. You haven't seen the old me. Guess all that time spent in solitude made me forget what a freak I was..."

"Lynn, what are you saying right now? Did you just switch personalities or something? I told you, I don't care about your past. The only thing that matters is the person I see before me." She grabbed his hand, but he pulled away.

He couldn't bring himself to look her in the eye. Not after that hallucination, which made him twitch in disgust every time he thought about it. When he closed his eyes he could see her lifeless body lying on the floor, covered on red. He was too afraid to even touch her.

"You probably know it already..." Lynn said in a faint voice. "That I get turned on when I drink your blood. Would you call that normal?"

"There is nothing about us that's normal. I'm a half vampire with amnesia and you are a strange pacifist with a fetish. If we were just some ordinary people, wouldn't it be boring?"

He couldn't help but laugh. Usually he would be the one to come up with some dumb joke in a situation like this.

"Now that's the man I known." Ava smiled. "Let's get you dressed up and call it a day."
