Chapter 36 The Flaxxan Issue Part 2

Mark noticed the group was hesitant to approach the aliens. Heck, he was hesitant as well. The Flaxans had caused a lot of deaths before and had also made him realize that this job wasn't something so easy to do.

These thoughts came with the image of an injured old lady who was in critical condition because he didn't act fast enough. The ones responsible… The Flaxans but when he looked at the group he knew they weren't the same as the ones who came previously.

'Come on Mark be a hero be a hero. Gotta make up for what my Dad did. Got to make mom proud' Quickly pinioning himself up he left the group behind much to their disagreement and went to the Flaxan who stood in the front.

"You… I recognize you."

Hearing the older Flaxans response Mark stopped in place and gave the old Alien a good look to see if he recognized him but immediately gave up. He wasn't trying to be racist but the Flaxans all basically looked the same so he couldn't confidently say he recognized him.

"Hm, it may be difficult for you to remember me but I was a part of the attack a couple of decades ago. I guess for your kind it's only been weeks."

"Wait wait! So you are an invader?" Feeling that he might've been fooled by their approach. Jumping back he readied himself for a fight but all this seemed to do was illicit fear and anxiety in the flaxans who huddled closer to one another.

"No no we're not those people anymore… and these young ones have never been those people. Please don't hurt them because of our mistakes." Saying this he stepped forward with some others who dressed in old military uniforms.

"If your kind want vengeance take it out on us but give these ones a peaceful new home that's all we ask" This comment didn't go unheard by the other Flaxans and soon light cries began to echo from the crowd leaving Mark standing around awkwardly.

"Damnit now I feel like a jerk. Look I don't want to hurt you guys I'm just trying to figure out what's going on."

While Mark said this another arrival came and stood beside him "It seems you truly are an expert in peace talks" Robot commented, his tone of speaking the same as always but that didn't hide the sarcasm.

"It was a mistake…" Mark muttered in defense as the Flaxan looked between the two.

"So you don't want vengeance?" He asked, gaining both Mark's and Robot's attention.

"No, Clearly someone has already done that" Robot said as he took in their rough appearances.

"Hey man not cool" Mark wasn't an expert on mental health but even he knew dissing people who likely had PTSD wasn't that great of an idea.

"Sorry if my comment was harsh" Robot apologized honestly. Usually, he didn't make small mistakes like this but the stress of his team was even beginning to get to him.

"No, the machine speaks true. Except it wasn't someone who did this to us but we who did this to ourselves"

Robot was about to press for more information when he and Mark heard their teammates making noise not far behind. Turning around they saw all of them looking up into the sky as a figure floated in the air with his cape flowing in the wind.

"Ultraman"

'This was definitely not the invasion I was expecting' Looking down at the Flaxans Brandon gave the group a complete scan and noticed how bad their situations were. Many had wounds that were old, broken bones that hadn't had time to heal properly, and were basically all malnourished to some degree.

'Their appearance would explain why no invasion had taken place but what in the world could have caused it? Is it something from season 2?' Brandon wasn't sure because he hadn't watched that far but whatever it was he needed to find out.

Floating down, Brandon made his way toward the Flaxans. Though on the way he heard Rex shout some things at him but he did his best to ignore him. Along the way, someone else came flying beside him with the sound of crackling energy.

"Hey, I didn't get to say thanks last time when you helped us out" Atom Eve said hoping it wasn't too late.

She'd seen Brandon a couple of times since the initial invasion weeks prior but never really found a good opportunity. This wasn't really a good chance either with what was going on either but she just wanted to get it out of the way.

"No problem… Now I don't want to sound rude but are you alright"

Brandon already knew what was wrong with her because of the show but seeing her this close really showed how badly she was hurt. Rough hair, dark eye circles, and a smile that felt forced for the situation.

"Agh, nothing I can't deal with. We should hurry I bet Robots waiting" She quickly cut the conversation short and flew faster to her teammates.

Watching her do this Brandon couldn't help but feel some pity for her. First, she had a sucky boyfriend who was an all-around jerk and a best friend who cheated with said boyfriend. Yeah, she may have thought they had broken up but jumping to a friend's ex that quick is just no class… Then there's her parents who are a whole bag of problems in themselves and last but not least is Mark who dates Amber when Eve definitely tried to go to him for comfort.

But besides all this Brandon noticed something really special about her besides her drama-filled life. This girl was literally filled with potential. He'd seen the GDAs record about her and her abilities clearly had untapped potential. If anyone could possibly fight a viltrumite she'd be one of them.

'Maybe I should invite her to the new guardians as well… Food for thought'

Flying faster he caught up to Eve and arrived in front of Flaxans which should have been fine but this is where things got interesting.

"Monster!"

"It's the Demon!"

Some of the soldiers cried out in fear and lifted their firearms. Before any of their leaders could stop them they suddenly fired and hit Brandon but these blasts did nothing causing some present to cry. Like they'd seen similar things in the past and were falling in despair.

"Calm down you fools, he isn't the destroyer!" The leader tried his best to calm his men and it did work to some degree but the fear in their eyes never left. Every Flaxan present just stared at Brandon like he was the devil himself.

This truly confused the teen team as they all arrived. Everyone knew Brandon was one of the best heroes around. Sometimes, he was a little too good as some people even began to call him a Boy Scout because of how he'd help old ladies. So seeing so much fear directed at him was definitely an experience.

"Hahaa finally someone gets it. Don't you just get tired looking at this guy?" Rex joked but this only caused Kate to slap his back. Now was clearly not the time.

"I apologize for how they reacted, it's just you remind them of something we all fear."

"You mentioned this before. A monster, they said, mind further explaining?" Robot asked, getting straight to the point.

"Of course, it may be a long story so please bear with me. It all started roughly thirty years ago months after our initial attack on your world. At the time I was just a regular soldier in the army when rumors began to circulate about a weapon being developed. One we would use to destroy this world's inhabitants"

Everyone glared at the Flaxan as he mentioned this part.

"It was a different time then…" He said before he continued "And our scientists were correct. The weapon they created would be the greatest to ever exist but they couldn't control it… No one would have known that it would bring about our Doom"

[Flashback]

The king of the Flaxans watched his scientist move from place to place as they prepared to wake the creature. Biology wasn't their strong suit exactly but they weren't novices either. Especially after pillaging the knowledge of many worlds.

It was thanks to this that they were able to decipher some secrets from a sample they had taken. The blood of a warrior from another world. One who outclassed them in practically every way.

Almost every discovery they made was advancing them years into the future. This sample was the key to everything! The cure to disease, aging, and even rejected death itself but more than that it was also a weapon. One they would use for a complete victory.

"Kellog how goes the experiment?"

"Quiet well sire! The creature's vitals are extremely strong and it's endured every test we've given it. It's even better than the original!" The scientist bragged as he showed off footage of some of the tests they conducted.

Some involved blasting it with lasers, radiation, and poison. At first, these weapons would work and nearly kill the beast but the wounds would soon reverse like nothing happened. What was even better was that the same weapon never worked twice! The weapon was perfectly adapted. Something the original sample clearly lacked.

What caused this change? This credit he mostly had to give to his scientists. They'd come across many beings in the past with unique qualities so one of them had the idea of trying to merge these qualities into one singular being. Many of these attempts failed but one success was all that was needed.

"Good, I want it prepped for the royal march through the capital. My citizens have been doubting my decisions it's time they see the error of their ways"

"Um, sire I can't clear that yet. So far we have control over the beast due to a mental lock but making it participate might give it the freedom it needs to break free. If that happens we won't be able to restrain it mentally because it would have adapted"

"Then strengthen this lock or I'll have someone else do it for you"

Kellog quickly got the hint. If he didn't do this then he would easily be replaced.

"Very well sire…"

With that, the king left the room leaving Kellog with his fellow scientists and some soldiers.

"You heard him strengthen the locks and prepare him for transport"

"But that's insane, it's clearly not ready" One of the scientists protested.

"Then how about you tell this to our king?" This question instantly shut the room up as they got to work. They first moved over and began tweaking the helmet the creature wore. It was never meant to be removed due to the risks involved but they had little choice now.

Bringing over a temporary mental dampener they quickly switched the devices and fortunately, nothing went wrong. Now they just had to increase the original's output to allow them remote control.

Several days passed and the time of the march finally came. The scientists had the creature strapped and had already placed the new dampener but the headset was untested. Sure it may work on a fellow Flaxan and possibly other species in the universe but they couldn't be completely sure that it would do the same here.

"Sir are you sure we should follow through… I'm willing to give up my life to halt this if we can"

"There's no stopping this. If we refuse then the king will just have someone else do it. The best we can do is give it our all" Kellog said to his apprentice as they followed in the march.

Soon they were in the streets of the capital. There were cheers all around.

"And for our great conquest, we have prepared a new weapon, something that will spare the lives of your husbands, sons, and fathers. No longer will our wars last years. No, they will end in moments! Release the weapon. Release my Doomsday!"

Following orders, the scientists unlatched the beast. It was tall… around 20 feet with graying skin and bulging muscles. All around were spikes that protruded from its sides but its most menacing aspect was the eyes that glowed red. Sometimes it felt like the creature could actually watch from within waiting for its chance to escape but these were simple jokes the scientists made in the past to pass the time.

Switching on the device they controlled Doomsday to take several steps forward at this point everything seemed to be going well. The scientists even celebrated their success but something soon seemed off.

Doomsday began to twitch in place as if fighting something within. A mental dampener worked because it shut off practically all its mental processes to around 99% but the scientists failed to realize one thing. In order to control a body to move it needed more parts of the brain activated.

It wasn't much, they still controlled more than 87% but that 13% was more than enough for Doomsday to quickly adapt and retake his body.

RAGHHHHH

The crowd didn't think anything was wrong and cheered hearing the beasts but the scientists knew all too well that this was not their doing.

Allowing its eyes to glow bright, Doomsday released a large blast of heat vision that passed through the crowds. The cheers soon became despair as people began running in all directions.

The military present tried to resist but nothing worked. The weapons used against it had long been adapted too!

"My god what have we done"

[Present]

"I was one of the soldiers there in the parade and managed to take those scientists away from the battle in time. It was then that they explained what had happened but at that point, things had already fallen and they knew it. Years soon went by as the military continued battling it but it was just a waste of effort. The only damage they did was to the planet itself" At this point, he was sobbing along with many other Flaxans.

"And this sample used to make the creature, might I ask where you got it from?" Robot asked. He'd been in touch with Cecil and they both agreed that this beast was dangerous but clearly, it sounded strong enough to kill a viltrumite.

All they'd need to do is put some more work into the mental control and perhaps test it off world but it was very possible in their minds.

Sargent Kor hesitated, he knew the sample. It was standing in front of him but he couldn't say that. No, he didn't want to risk a second Doomsday. If that happened then they'd have nowhere to run!

"I'm sorry I don't know"

Robot watched intently and knew it was a lie. Then he thought back to how they reacted to Brandon. They treated him as if he was the beast itself… Then there was that time when he left for their world. Through this analysis, Robot began to form a theory but if it was true then gaining a proper sample may be impossible.

Brandon who had patiently listened the whole time didn't change any of his facial expressions but within he was stunned beyond measure.

'Doomsday… out of all the freaking things that could've ended up in this verse it had to be that unkillable thing. Luckily it's stuck in the Flaxan Dimension but I can exactly count on that.'

Flaxans had clearly escaped like those present so who's to say more won't escape except this time they might bring a friend? Sighing inwardly he knew that he needed to get stronger faster.

So far he'd only been bathing in the sun. From Earth's atmosphere but maybe it's time he took a real sun bath like all-star Superman? No, that was too risky and was basically guaranteed death but what if he did so with Smart Atoms? Would his body then be able to handle the overload?

So far this was his best idea but that plan took time. Thankfully Zod and him were already working on a portal to the Flaxan world so technically if the beast does cross they'd be able to kick him back over but that was really just pushing off the real issue.

'In the meantime, I need to finish strengthening the current team and gaining new teammates. I don't know much about Firebreather Duncan and Spawn but I'm sure they will still be a great help against Doomsday. The gods' realm might also have some stuff to help. I know gods in mythology always got neat things meant to seal creatures for nearly all eternity'
