The road to the temple ( Part 4 )

During the road, Matei slowly left behind walking next to Anka.

She ignored him.

Matei seemed in a good mood. Apparently he didn't hold a grudge against the person who blew up his building.

- Why do you look so angry? If I didn't know, I'd think you hadn't slept all night, ha ha...

Matei joked a little to himself, then looked into the distance at the temple on the horizon.

- Do you think we will be able to learn magic?

His face was serious. It seemed like they were asking for her opinion, but the real purpose was still hidden. Anka was quite angry right now, but she knew that her unhappy situation had nothing to do with Matei, so she tried to give a standard answer.

- Probably, but as with many things, talent plays an important role.

Matei seemed to expect this answer and just nodded.

- Thank you for the letter. It really was a night full of adventures last night. You had fun ?

- Yes, at least in the beginning.

Matei did not seem to want to pursue this topic. He continued talking, and in time they was out of that ancient battlefield.

Anka's headache became easier, and she was even distracted by this conversation. Their discussion constantly changed to different topics, and Matei's social skills were very impressive. Even someone like Anka who didn't like to talk was influenced to relax over time.

Anka knew that President Bluee was a good person, but very cunning. For her who had read the book and knew very well the personality of this character who had somehow become the first villain the heroine would have to deal with.

As in many novels, the villain is not necessarily a bad person to begin with, but others take care to harm him. In this very scenario, that change will take place, but Anka was undecided whether to intervene or simply let it take its course as fate would have it...

Although Matei and Alesio were her favorite characters from the beginning of the script, she could not blindly intervene in the plot.

Plus she wasn't going to save the planet in the first place, and if their goals didn't coincide, they would eventually become enemies, and Anka didn't want to bring herself into trouble.

Right now, while Matei was talking happily with her, Anka felt that Alesio was staring at her.

Because she knew the special relationship between the two, she wasn't alarmed at all. In fact, you'd think she thought they were cute, but now her mind was on someone else.

The conversation about power is one that had woken her up a lot.

Now she could sense the ambiguity of the power system in the universe. Like for example, the Damianus species is the strongest in theory, but the power they hold is not about physical strength. It is calculated as racial number, as owned planets, as acquired coins, as weaknesses, etc..

So maybe a single diamondos couldn't attack anyone but couldn't be killed which is pretty cool but not quite the definition of powers.

On the other hand, dragons, for example, have enormous destructive power, but as a racial number, they are very few, so they are not considered the 4th place in the racial power scale. People are numerous in many corners of the universe, but their power is small, small, very small...

Now that they are evolving and gaining powers, they are slowly getting stronger but they have hit two walls.

One is longevity.

Although even aliens use time measurement, they have different associations. For them a day is much different from that of people and so are other perceptions of time. They have planets with different positions in the solar system, and with different characteristics.

However they used technology to set an exact time read for each creature. Since the longevity of higher creatures is ridiculously long, certain creatures even make jokes about it. However the lifespan of humans is considered to be a few months for these beings.

As a rough association, a hundred years to a people is as much as a year to them.

So you can see the huge difference.

As for the other wall, it's magic.

Because in universe is 6 primary types of energy, one of them is magic.

This is the reason for the evolution of many races, and at the same time their misfortune. The energy brought by magic is powerful, strengthening the body and lives, but at the same time it brings many restrictions to the body.

Since it's a bit complicated to explain, I'll leave it for another time, going back to the magic.

Magic is the wild energy that binds the other primal energies. It is like a bridge, like a key to other realms.

With magic, humanity could develop stronger bodies, although not by much, but with time, they will reach a more satisfactory result. To bring magic to earth is not difficult because basically the system has already done it, but people still don't know how to use it.

That's why people practically don't use the magic category in the character panel at all.

Now . Being on a planet abandoned by dragons and phoenixes, a species that excels at using magic to the point that their children are born with primal energy uniques.

Therefore, if they want to learn how to properly attract the energy of magic from the outside, this would be the ideal place. The fact that people use the magical energy within them is entirely due to the system that naturally attracts it.

So basically the human is not officially on the path of evolution if it can't use magic.

The thing that Anka still finds interesting is that the world itself is slowly evolving.

Even now other species are investigating and researching magic to find new ways to use it, while others are working to integrate it into machines or as a constrained energy source...

- Did you see anything special on that battlefield?

Matei finally got to the question he really wanted to ask.

Anka answered the truth, after all she can't lie, and anyway it won't have much impact on her.

- I saw two tragic souls.

Matei looked shocked.

'I don't know what shocks him more. That I told him the truth or that I can see souls ...'

Then he looked at Alesio not far away. Anka really wanted to laugh at the two of them. Their team consisted of one cunning person and one even more cunning. Alesio was the kind of person with an excellent mind born and favored by fate.

Too bad the author decided to get rid of him quickly.

After the group exited the barren land, they entered a hilly area. Right in front of them they could see the mountain and the temple on it.

They still had around 3 hours to their destination. As the sun was still shining brightly, visibility was very good over a wide field of view. At one point several teams could be seen heading towards the temple like them.

Sometimes fights started, but there were more friendly exchanges. Everyone wanted to reach their destination and did not find the time spent fighting useful, so a temporary peace was left over the surroundings.

About halfway up the mountain, they started sprinting with all their might.

Anka had to block 14 surprise attacks on her back, and her slightly improved mood hit rock bottom. Her gaze became cold, emotionless, her eyes had a reddish glow, and the aura around her made you shiver from the cold.

The girl was initially just blocking the blows but now she was returning them lethally.

Over time, there were no more surprise strikes when they saw that people were returning with serious injuries.

Anka was constantly evolving since she arrived on this planet, although she didn't have the system now, she could guess the state of her panel to some extent.

Her talent with weapons seemed influenced by the state of this planet. Wherever she saw signs of battle, her state of mind became strange.

She then had the battle simulation in mind and even thought of ways to counter…

Her mind was always active.

Her magic that was used last night to practice the ice fluctuated like the waves, and her soul powers seemed hot.

Her whole soul seemed strangely excited…
