Neither did I

Writer's POV:

"What's a Lycan?" Herdis inquired.

"You are married to a Werewolf. I expected you to have done your research by now."

"Well I didn't, so what are those?"

"They are partially dormant werewolves, they are not totally dormant they are just in the middle of both, they can transform to wolves but not fully and they can't maintain their transformation for a long time. They are like a pet to werewolves, like imps are to witches, dogs are to humans, Hydras are to scales and snakes to Gorgons."

"Who owned her then?"

"She belonged to my brother, Eugar. Lycans are the most loyal pets, they only report to their master, so I guess Eugar's death made her even less talkative, she's just like a puppet, she only speaks when she's asked to."

"I guess so too, but why don't you know her name? If she has worked for your family for ages, why don't you know her name then?"

"Eugar brought her in but he never mentioned her name, he never used her name, he used to call her Bambi, it was a nickname he gave her, before and after his death she never answered anyone who called her with that title other than Eugar."

"Why didn't you ask her personally?"

"Why should that concern me?"

"Well if she has worked for your family for ages, you could at least have tried to form a bond with her."

"Are you advising that your husband form a bond with another woman?"

"When did I say that?"

"In your words, and I quote 'If she has worked for your family for ages, you could have at least tried to form a bond with her.' That's basically you saying that I can go ahead with promiscuity."

"It's natural for men to be promiscuous, so I won't be offended if you decide to explore other options."

"Thank you for your Kindness, but unlike other clans, Werewolves stick to one partner till death."

"Why is that? Is it because of the mating bond?"

"Precisely, Werewolves can stay promiscuous until their mate is found, once their mate is found they belong solely to that partner, and may lose their mind or even die if harm befalls their partner."

"Have you found yours?".

"What?"

"Your mate."

"Yes I have."

'Weird, why did that hurt?He is not even important to me, this is meant to be a good thing. In no time he will leave me for his mate while I can finally be with Ceres.'

"What if someone who is married finds their mate?"

"They may decide to maintain a loveless marriage with their first wife, or save her from the trauma. But they must bond with their mate."

"And if they don't?".

"If they don't they lose their mind gradually till they are totally insane, most bond are so strong that they may have to wed."

"So that means you may be divorcing me soon?".

"And why will I do that?".

"Do you wish to leave me in a loveless marriage?".

"Why would that be?".

"Then can the mating bond be severed?"

"I have no idea."

"How is that possible?"

"I was a slacker, I rarely attended my classes, so why don't you do your research when we are back to the werewolf territory and tell me."

"About that. How will we continue our journey?".

"It's too risky to go on a journey now, plus you are not strong enough for a journey so it's better we leave at the sound of the first crow tomorrow."

"Maybe if my suggestions were heeded this wouldn't have happened."

"Maybe it would have, maybe it wouldn't have, till then get some sleep I have something to handle."

He was about to get up from the bed but Herdis held him back.

"What's wrong, you need a goodbye kiss."

"Eww, that's disgusting. I just want to know how Rebekah is fairing."

"Unlike you she followed my instructions and was quickly saved by the soldiers, she's better now she's just asleep, you should also sleep and recuperate faster."

"Okay, thanks."

"For what?"

"For saving me."

"Thanks for being worried."

"You heard?"

"The guards told me, I had no idea you cared that much."

'I don't know how long I slept but by the time I had gotten up it was an hour past the first crow. But why didn't he wake me up?' Herdis asked herself.

Bambi had helped clean Herdis up, she was assisting her with her dress and hair, when Herdis decided to ask her some questions.

"Bambi."

"Huh."

"That's what he used to call you, am I right?"

'Ha, he wasn't joking, she really won't acknowledge the name. That's okay, I have more questions to ask you.'

"Did you love him? Your eyes say it all, I know you loved him. Was he your mate?"

"How did?"

'That's what I wanted to see, a reaction. So I was right then, he was her mate that's why she broke down this badly because he died.'

"What's your name then? I believe everyone has a name."

"Attendant No.787, that was the name I was given by the Slave traders"."

"You were once a slave?"

"Yes I was, I used to be a slave until Prince Eugar rescued me. I never had a name i was abandoned and in an orphanage home, then sold to the Slave traders by the priests."

'It seems like these princes love to play the role of Knight in shining armor. Funny.'

"Did Prince Eugar punish those priests?"

"He did, he did a whole lot for and I knew that if he was still alive he would have done a lot more for our child."

"You had a baby?"

"I have a baby."

"Then why didn't you tell anyone about it? I am very sure they would have welcomed the baby."

"They would welcome the baby, but they won't welcome her mother, I want my daughter t have the best life, but Eugar won't forgive me if I am absent from our child's life, she's the only reason I am still holding on, I thought my life was going to be useless after I escaped the Slave Trade, but I was saved by Prince Eugar, I thought my life would end once he died but Henrietta saved me."

"Henrietta, that's a nice name."

"It is, that was what he wanted to name our Child before he died, if it was a boy Henry and if it was a girl, Henrietta."

"What killed him?"

"Huh."

"What Killed Eugar?"

It was at this moment she started crying uncontrollably. Herdis had to pat her back to calm her down. Before she could continue.
