Chapter 16

In the blink of an eye 15 years passed since Caseys kidnapping. He was now 20 and in just a few hours he would turn 21.

Sunnys been preparing for this day for years. A few years ago she had a dream and found out how she would die. She had a feeling that she would die in front of Casey so she tried to avoid meeting Casey at all costs. At first it was easy since he was at college. Now he was coming back home.

Sunny didn't know how to face Casey cause all she could think about was the scene of her dying in front of him. Still she put on a smile and started preparing the house for his birthday party.

She got kevin to go and get the cake while she and Grace decorate the house. Caseys favorite color is blue so she made sure to implement that in the theme.

Even thought Casey is an adult he still loves collecting stuffed animals so she got him this stuffed animal she found online. It was limited edition and was pretty huge. Sunny set it aside on the couch.

In just a few hours the house was ready and all the food was done. She took a look at her phone and saw that kevin messaged her five minutes ago.

[Vinny: Granny Nyny, I got the cake! Im on my way right now. I'll be there in a few]

She left her messages and went to call Casey. The phone rang for a while before Casey picked up.

"Hey Granny! I'm almost there just about 10 minutes away! Im kinda in a rush tho so I'll talk to you more once im home." Casey said over the phone as he ended the call.

5 minutes later Kevin walked in with the cake intact. Kevin rushed and out the table on the counter. He gave his mom and Sunny a big hug before speaking about the important news. "Hey Granny nyny I think Caseys almost here, I saw a car just like his. I'm not sure though."

Sunny nodded then checked her phone to see if Casey messaged her.

[Casey<3: Granny, I'm almost here. Should be here in like 2 minutes. See you soon! <3]

Sunny quickly told Kevin and Grace. They decided to split up to go turn off all the lights. They found hiding spots near the entrance and waited for Casey.

Luckily Casey didn't take very long to come.

Casey opened the door and was confused by the darkness. He was sure that Sunny was at least home and he saw multiple cars in the driveway. Casey tried to pull out his phone to turn on the flashlight but was interrupted by a scream.

"Surprise!" Everyone yelled in unison. Casey looked around shocked and could feel tears rolling down his face.

He had forgotten about his birthday because he was so busy preparing for his last year in college. He doesn't really know what he was expecting but it wasn't this.

He turned around towards the couch and saw this huge teddy bear with a blue top hat on and immediately fell in love. Casey rushed towards the bear.

"Is this really all for me?" Casey asked in shocked. His prior birthdays werent exactly small but they weren't as elaborate as this birthday. He felt extremely happy but deep down in his heart he could feel something was wrong.

Casey just let that feeling slide because what could possibly be wrong.

Kevin came out of the kitchen towards the living room with the cake. The cake had two candles to make 21 and was colored blue and gold.

Kevin put the cake on the table and took out his phone to start recording. Sunny lead Casey towards the cake and had him stand in front of it while she stood behind him.

They all stood around the table sang the happy birthday song to Casey. Casey patiently waited for them to finish with a huge smile plastered on him face. Today's the best day ever.

They finished singing the song and casey bent down, made a wish, and blew out the candles.

When he finished a thud could be heard. Then a scream, then another. Casey turned around and screamed.

Today's the worst day ever.
