Chapter 18: The Diary's Explosive Information

"Earth-616 universe? Does this mean there are other universes ranging from Universe 1 to Universe 616, or even more universes?" Tony spoke up.

"Yes, sir. Logically deducing, that's how it seems," JARVIS replied. "As you mentioned earlier, the universe he originally belonged to might be a higher-dimensional universe, and there's a possibility they possess some ability to observe other universes."

"So, does this thoroughly confirm the existence of other multiverses or parallel universes?" Tony mused. "It seems our technology may be far behind theirs."

Currently, human technology struggles even to observe the universe, let alone observe other universes.

"So, why is our universe called the Marvel Universe? Is this Earth-616 universe another name for the Marvel Universe?" Tony rubbed his chin in thought. "And what about this DC Universe? Is it another universe? Could it be that each universe, apart from being numbered, also has a name based on some unique characteristics of that universe?"

[With the timeline in such disarray, why isn't the Ancient One stepping in? But then again, aside from Doctor Strange's existence, which is crucial to her retirement, she probably doesn't care about the rest.

But I hope the timeline of this world isn't some absurd timeline. I really hope that one day I won't wake up to find the entire city turned into zombies. That would be terrifying. It would better to have Thanos snap his fingers.]

Tony noticed several keywords here—timeline, Ancient One, Doctor Strange, city turned into zombies, Thanos's snap. Each sounded quite complex.

"Timeline... Could timelines really exist?" Tony was somewhat puzzled. From the current scientific explanations of time, it's even difficult to say whether time truly exists; it might just be human perception.

As for the Ancient One and Doctor Strange, he neither knew about them nor heard about them.

But according to Marcus, it seemed this Ancient One could handle these messy matters. Could they be some unknown big shots?

As for the latter part, the whole city turns into a zombies' den, chilled Tony to his spine.

From the context before and after, it implied that if we were to consider the many future possibilities as some linear thing, one of those possibilities could indeed lead to various zombie scenarios.

He couldn't help but think of all the various zombies depicted in various literary works, making his scalp tingle.

Zombie movies are also one of Hollywood's favorite horror genres.

As for this "Thanos snapping his fingers," he had no idea what that meant. What could it be?

Tony's mind was in a whirl, feeling like he was being inundated with strange new knowledge once again.

Meanwhile, Nick Fury was also deep in thought as he looked at the constantly emerging words in the diary.

What was revealed inside probably related to future crises, such as zombie outbreaks or the ominous snap of this unknown "Thanos."

[But there won't be many quiet days ahead. Before long, Tony will publicly announce himself as Iron Man, followed by what? Captain America's return, Thor's arrival, and finally, the Avengers assemble for their first battle against aliens? Should I stay away? But that seems to be from 12 years ago; it's too early to run now.]

Another burst of information overloaded Nick Fury's senses.

"Nick, when it mentions Captain America here, could it be 'that' Captain America we know?"

At this moment, a slightly hoarse female voice came from beside Nick Fury.

It was none other than Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow—fiery red hair, a stunning figure, unmistakable.

Beside her stood Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, along with Agent Phil Coulson, the senior SHIELD agent.

These were all Nick Fury's most trusted confidants, so after obtaining the diary, Nick Fury brought them together and briefed them on its contents.

At the same time, Nick Fury also needed to verify one thing: whether no one could reveal the existence of this diary to anyone, or if it was just forbidden to inform Marcus of its existence only.

Ultimately, it turned out that he simply couldn't confront Marcus directly.

"If I'm not mistaken, it should be that Captain America." Nick Fury nodded.

"My goodness, but Captain… He's supposed to be dead, right?" Coulson exclaimed, shocked and thrilled.

No one here was happier than him because he had been a loyal fan of Captain America since childhood.

After World War II, the U.S. government tirelessly promoted Captain America as a symbol of freedom. However, no one would have expected that Captain America, presumed dead for decades, would actually return one day.

"But the records show Captain America as missing. No one saw him die with their own eyes, nor has his body been found, right?" Natasha pondered, then spoke up.

As everyone thought about it, it did seem to be the case. Despite assuming Captain America, Steve Rogers, was dead all this time, who had actually seen him die?

"But given his current age, even if he were alive, he wouldn't be fit for active duty, right? Are we supposed to expect him to go back into battle?" Hawkeye remarked.

The mental image of an elderly Captain America, with white hair and no teeth, dressed in his iconic uniform, hobbling onto a battlefield with a cane, struck them as quite humorous and bizarre.

"Forget it. If Cap is still alive, we'll find him sooner or later," Nick Fury decided, opting not to dwell on this headache-inducing question any longer. "But this Thor... which Thor could it be? Could it really be one of those mythical gods?"

The group exchanged glances. There were so many godly figures in this world, and many bore the title of Thor.

"In a world where vampires and werewolves exist, it's not unthinkable if it's some kind of deity," Barton suggested.

SHIELD dealt with all sorts of supernatural and mythical creatures in their daily work, including restless werewolves and vampires—beings straight out of myth. So the sudden appearance of a Thor-like figure seemed plausible enough.
