Chapter 20: Erasing Timelines? Hair-Raising.

To say he worries about the world before others and enjoys the world after others might be an exaggeration. However, for Tony, knowing the risks of the future meant he couldn't just ignore them.

"If there's any sufficiently dangerous information, remember to alert me," Tony instructed.

"Yes, sir," Jarvis responded.

Meanwhile, in Marcus's penthouse in New York, he was unaware that his diary had already stirred immense excitement among S.H.I.E.L.D. and Tony.

At this moment, he was checking the progress bar in his mind, seeing that it was just a little bit away from allowing another draw.

"No, I need to push a bit more, upload a video, and just reach the progress bar." Marcus decided.

Writing his diary sometimes made Marcus feel his hair stand on end because of the contents. Like Thanos snapping his fingers, alien invasions, and the entire city turning into zombies; they aren't fictitious but could potentially become real timelines.

Marcus isn't sure if he is in an extremely dangerous timeline. Whether the TVA's Kang the Conqueror has been taken down by Loki, or Loki has become the God of Stories, he doesn't know.

The situation is chaotic, and he can only try to enhance his strength.

Currently, the fastest and best method is the lottery. If he could draw something good, his strength would significantly increase.

Recently, he had tried uploading random videos from his chaotic memories, but the progress bar's growth was almost negligible.

He realized that only Marvel-related content would boost the progress significantly.

[Considering the timing, Thor should soon be thrown down from Asgard by his father. It should be the same year Tony became Iron Man. Following the usual process, this is another prince's adventure story—a prince lost in his immense power, ultimately exiled, who then undergoes a journey of realization and redemption.

Such a clichéd script.

However, this better not be the timeline where Thor is shot dead by Hawkeye. These incorrect timelines could be erased. Who knows how they'll be dealt with, but let's hope they won't be erased.]

Just when everyone thought Marcus's diary entry had ended, new text suddenly appeared.

When they saw the mention of "Asgard," the identity of the god of thunder mentioned earlier was almost certain. The Norse god of thunder, son of Odin, Thor.

There are many gods of thunder in different mythologies, but if the descriptor is "Asgard," then it could only be Thor.

"It's over. What did we say earlier? We feared this would happen…!" Natasha couldn't help but exclaim. "The Thor mentioned in Marcus's diary isn't just a god. He also has a god-king backing him, the Odin from Norse mythology."

Everyone exchanged worried glances. If this were true, it suggested that the existence of these gods might not be isolated instances. Instead, there could be an entire pantheon. Just thinking about it was suffocating.

"If we assume what Marcus's diary says is true, then the existence of Thor and the god-king Odin means Norse mythology is real. This implies other mythologies might also be real." Agent Hill said anxiously. "If it's just gods, that's one thing, but if demons and devils also exist, what's stopping someone from summoning them? Are we going to have to fight demons too?"

"It's hard to say for sure, but it looks possible." Coulson chimed in.

Natasha thought for a moment and said, "From the diary, it seems like a Hollywood plot: someone loses themselves in power, gets exiled for reflection, and eventually finds redemption. Is that it?"

"It could be a story, Natasha." Clint Barton chuckled. "Even Marcus ridiculed it as a clichéd script."

"But the real trouble is this," Nick Fury pointed at the diary text. "It seems that in one timeline, or in one possible future, you, Barton, shot and killed Thor with an arrow. A mortal killing a god—Barton, you'd be immortalized in history."

"No, no, no, that's impossible!" Clint's first reaction was disbelief. He couldn't believe it, nor could he accept it.

Thor was the legendary god of thunder while in contrast, Clint was just a slightly skilled human.

He couldn't imagine the repercussions if he accidentally killed Thor. Asgard's fury would be unimaginable. Who knows if the one-eye god would wage war with tons of other gods on earth?

It might even spark a war between gods and humans.

"But what does Marcus mean by timelines? Incorrect timelines? I have a bad feeling about this." Natasha said. "So, there are correct and incorrect timelines? Who decides what's correct or incorrect?"

"The real problem isn't who decides what's correct or incorrect but what 'erasure' means," Nick Fury instinctively felt that "erasure" hinted at some great horror.

He couldn't fathom what erasing a timeline would entail.

However, he felt an inexplicable familiarity with this whole process. In fact, S.H.I.E.L.D. used a similar process when dealing with various matters in the hidden world. They intervened in what they deemed incorrect situations.

For example, if some vampires planned to hold a blood pool party in a city, they would intervene, and those unruly vampires would be erased by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Thinking about this, Nick Fury felt a chill run down his spine, making him feel as if someone was watching him from above.

Just as he maintained order in the underground world of Earth.

"I feel like I don't recognize our world anymore. Is this the world we know?" Natasha murmured.

The others shared the same expression, feeling like the world suddenly became unrecognizable.

"No matter what, Barton, be careful. If the future unfolds as Marcus predicts, we might face a diplomatic crisis—an interplanetary diplomatic crisis." Nick Fury warned.
