"I sentence you to..... Death."
Immediately the King said those words, silence ensued, and no one said a single word.
At this point, Kieran didn't even know how to feel, one second he would feel like huge fireballs were hitting him, then another second he would feel like time stopped.
"D...death....? What did I do.....?" Kieran muttered in disbelief as he widened his eyes, clearly shocked by what he just heard from his father.
Though, his father hasn't been treating him right, he didn't expect this.
And what made it even more confusing was the fact that he didn't know his offense.
"Rowan, ple~"
"Don't call me by my name, woman!" The King's voice boomed in the throne room as he interrupted Lyra who was still crying.
From the look of things, Rowan told her first before he sent for Kieran.
Kieran was still trembling, but he knew that he had to remain calm, at least, to know what was really happening.
"My King, please, if I may know, what is my offense?" Kieran asked in a respectful manner.
Rowan squinted his eyes as he stared at Kieran who still had his head lowered.
The other nobles in the room were also staring at Kieran, some with disdain in their eyes.
"Hmm, you want to know what you did that warranted this punishment, huh?" Rowan muttered.
Kieran just remained silent, and waited for the King to say it.
And well, he didn't have to wait for long, because....
"You've deprived me of something.... something important, and I can only get that thing back at the cost of your life," Rowan said, as he rested his palm on his cheek, with an indifferent expression.
"B....but what is so important that it costs my life?" Kieran asked.
At this point, he was already nervous that his father may do something, after all, he felt like he was already asking too much questions, and from past experiences, he knew that his father didn't condole such.
It was even surprising that he answered his first question. Maybe because he was going to be killed today, the King just decided to answer his question.
"You see, they're alot of things you don't know, Kieran, and you'll never know them," Rowan said.
"At least, your death will be beneficial, be proud of that," He added.
At this point, Kieran didn't know what to think anymore, and he just stood there, bewildered.
Kieran knew from day one that his father didn't value him, but this revelation was still shocking.
Was he so useless and insignificant to the point that his father was trading his life?
Another surprising thing was the King's indifferent expression. It made it clear that he wasn't even bothered or feeling solemn that he sentenced his own son to death.... that was if he still saw Kieran as his son.
'Where did it all go wrong?' Kieran couldn't help but think.
Just because he couldn't use magic, he was instantly deemed useless, and shunned by everyone, and now, what awaited him was death.
"No!! No!! I can't take it anymore, are you so heartless??!! You're sentencing your own SON to death?!" Lyra screamed as tears flowed down her eyes.
She had been trying to hold back the urge to scream, but now, she couldn't hold it back anymore, she couldn't just watch her son die.
Though, she was married to the King, she wasn't seen as a Queen in the King's eyes, and in the eyes of the nobles, after all, she was the one who gave birth to the boy who couldn't use magic.
"What??!! What did he do wrong?!" Lyra continued screaming as tears streamed down her eyes.
The pain was evident on her face, and she clenched her fists in fury.
"M.....Mom, that's enough, please," Kieran muttered.
Seeing his mother in this state wasn't pleasant at all. He felt severe pain in his heart, but he needed his mother to stop screaming like this, because he could tell that his father would do something to her if she didn't stop.
The King's indifferent expression was no more, and it was instantly replaced with a frown, and Kieran didn't fail to notice that.
"I hate you!! You're a Beast!!" Lyra continued screaming, and at this point, it had become offensive.
"Mother, stop!!" Kieran screamed at her as tears began forming in his eyes, because he knew what was coming.
With the King's indifferent expression, he knew that he was really sentenced to death, and nothing could change that, but if his mother continued throwing insults at the King like this, then she would join him.
Kieran knew that his father wouldn't hesitate to kill her too, so Kieran was trying to stop her.
At least, even if he dies, his mother will still be alive...that would bring him little joy before dying.
He had already accepted his death.
"Lyra, if you don't shut up, you'll not leave this place alive," the King muttered, albeit very coldly, it was clear that he was serious.
Being insulted was a serious offense even though it was the Queen, and to make things even worse, she was doing that in front of the other nobles.
It was an intolerable offense.
But Lyra wasn't concerned about that now, her son was about to be killed, but she wouldn't allow it.
Slowly, Lyra raised her head as she stared at Rowan who had a frown on his face.
The other nobles just remained silent, watching everything without saying a single word.
Lyra's eyes were fierce as she stared at Rowan. It was clear that she had come to a decision.
"Rowan...." She called the King by his name as she got up.
"You want to kill Kieran, huh? Then you'll have to go through me..." She muttered.
Instantly, the throne room went silent.
"Mother! What are you saying?! Just let it be!" Kieran said as he couldn't hold back the tears anymore.
At this rate, the King was going to react, and Kieran knew that it would be bad.
And if his mom died, then.....
'There would be no need for me to remain alive,' Kieran thought as he stared at his mother who didn't even look at him.
That was her decision, and she wasn't turning back on it.
"The audacity to look at me in the eyes, and tell me such nonsense, Lyra, you've forgotten who you are speaking to," the King said.
Lyra scoffed immediately she heard what Rowan said.
"No King will want to kill his own son," Lyra said.
The frown on the King's face instantly disappeared, and was now replaced with his former indifferent expression.
He rested his palm on his face, and looked at Lyra, before muttering a single word.
"Leave....."
Immediately Rowan spoke, Lyra answered at the same time.
"No!"
And that was the final confirmation that was needed....
*Blink*
Yes, Kieran just blinked his eyes, and the next thing he saw couldn't be explained.
The world around Kieran began to spin as he widened his eyes in shock.
Was it a dream?
No, it couldn't possibly be a dream!
This was reality! And what he was seeing right now was real.
Pain.
Anger.
Shock.
Kieran didn't know how, but these three emotions attacked him at once.
"Ugh...ugh....wh.....what just happened?" He muttered, his voice laced with shock.
*Bam*
His mother's head flew in the air, and landed directly in front of him.
Nobody was holding Kieran, but he felt like he couldn't move, it was as if his legs were stuck to the ground.
He was trembling before, but it suddenly increased, and the rate at which his heart was beating also increased.
"M...Mother... No....." Kieran muttered as he finally mustered the strength to move, but he didn't know where to go.
His mother's head was directly in front of him while her body was not too far from him.
Rowan was standing in front of Lyra's body, and he was holding a silver sword that was now covered in blood.....his mother's blood.
"You.....YOU KILLED HER!!!" Kieran screamed with rage.
The King looked at Kieran with the same indifferent expression he usually had.
"And you're next," he muttered.
The fact that the other nobles were silent about this whole thing was really surprising.
But what would they even do? Moreover, they despised Kieran and his mother, so of course, they wouldn't interrupt.
Kieran felt his muscles weakening as he stared at his mother's lifeless body.
"No..... mother...."
The pain that Kieran was feeling was undescribable. At this point, he was so weak to the extent that he couldn't even cry.
In the blink of an eye, the King appeared in front of him, and looked at him straight in the eyes.
"Kieran Wynter.....I sentence you to Death," Rowan said, and then....
*WHOOSH*
The last thing Kieran saw was his father's indifferent expression, before everything blacked out.
Kieran fell on the floor..... Dead.
Just like his mother, his head was seperated from his neck.
That was the end of Kieran Wynter's horrible life...
Or was it?
Suddenly....
"What the fuck is going on??!!" Kieran exclaimed as he opened his eyes.
He was expecting to see himself in the throne room, but well...he was in for a surprise.
