Rank 2 Dagger & Revenge Points

"Ugh..." Kieran groaned as he closed his eyes.

"What the hell?" he muttered.

He expected that the box would open just like the first one did. Well, this one also opened, but instead of losing its glow, the glow increased, sending a bright flash of light to Kieran's eyes.

Kieran had to close his eyes in order not to go blind.

'What if I was outside? This light would have brought unwanted attention,' he couldn't help but think.

Seconds later, Kieran opened his eyes and looked at the system screen.

The bright flash of light was no longer present, so he could comfortably open his eyes.

"Huh? Where's the box?" Kieran questioned the system, his voice slightly raised.

Since the first box contained the Revenge Points, that meant the second box would contain the Rank 2 Dagger, but now, Kieran was just staring at a blank system screen.

As he was about to speak again, words suddenly appeared on the system screen.

[Host, check your inventory. The dagger is there.]

Kieran looked at the words with squinted eyes. He was seeing another unfamiliar word.

"Inventory?" he asked, clearly curious.

[Yes, it's a separate space in the system where you can store your weapons, clothes, and other items.]

"I see..." Kieran muttered, his voice laced with amusement. "So how can I access this inventory?"

[There's a separate tab for it where you access the items you have stored inside.]

[Just think about seeing the items, and the inventory tab will open up.]

"Hmm... okay," Kieran muttered.

Instantly, just like the way he thought about activating the Lightning Spear Skill, he thought about the inventory, or in particular, he thought about the Rank 2 Dagger.

Immediately, the system screen changed, and in a second, it displayed 10 boxes.

Among the boxes, one of them was currently occupied, and Kieran could clearly see it.

But before that, a question popped up in his mind, and he decided to ask the system.

"Why are there only 10 boxes, and not more?" he asked.

When he was looking at the boxes, he was sure that the system screen would be able to accommodate more than 10 boxes, so he wanted to know.

[That's the limit for now, only 10 slots are available, but that'll change in the future.]

"Limit, huh?" he muttered.

But if that would change in the future, then it was good, though he didn't know how it would change or what would change it.

[The good part is that items can be stacked. I mean, the same items can be placed in one box. For example, if you have six more daggers, they'll be placed in the same box where the first dagger is, no matter the amount.]

Kieran's eyes shone a little after this revelation. This was really a good part because one box would be able to hold a large amount of the same item.

"Pretty convenient," Kieran muttered.

Finally done with that, he moved on to check out the dagger that was in the first box.

[Just think about removing the dagger from the inventory.]

Kieran did exactly as the system said, and then...

*WHOOSH*

The Rank 2 Dagger appeared in his hand.

Both the hilt and the blade of the dagger were black. It looked ordinary, as expected of a Rank 2 weapon.

"It's quite sharp," Kieran muttered, running his finger along the edge of the dagger.

Yes, it wasn't the best weapon, but it was certainly better than nothing. In fact, Kieran was glad, after all, this was his first weapon.

He had never gotten a weapon, even when he was in the palace, after all, there was nothing he could use it for.

"Great, this'll work," Kieran muttered.

He continued looking at the dagger, gazing at it intensely, and then...

The system screen appeared again.

[Item: Weapon]

[Rank: Rank 2 Dagger]

[Durability: 15/15]

[Skills: N/A]

Kieran read the words on the system screen as he caressed the dagger.

"It showed me its details. I guess that's one of the features of the system," Kieran muttered.

He was slowly understanding this system more and more.

"Durability... 15, huh? Not bad," Kieran muttered. Though, he didn't really know if it was good, he knew that Rank 1 weapons usually broke quickly, so a Rank 2 weapon would certainly last longer.

"And as expected, it doesn't have a skill. Only Rank 3 weapons and above have skills."

Rank 1 and Rank 2 weapons are made with strong metals and beast parts, so... they don't have skills like Rank 3 weapons and above that are made from the Mana Core of Beasts.

Knowing that, Kieran wasn't disappointed that the dagger didn't have a skill.

With a thought, the dagger disappeared from his hand and entered the inventory.

"Pretty good rewards, except for the fact that I don't know what those Revenge Points are," and that brought him to his next question.

"System, you know what to do," Kieran said.

The system knew that he was curious about a lot of things, so instantly, it began.

[Revenge Points are points you get after completing quests related to revenge.]

[The amount of revenge points you'll get depends on the difficulty of the quest. The harder the quest, the more revenge points you'll get.]

Kieran immediately understood that part, but his real concern was what the revenge points were used for.

[Revenge Points are used to buy items from the system store. The higher the rank of the item you want to buy, the more revenge points will be needed.]

"System store?" Kieran muttered. Those two words piqued his interest.

[Yes, the system has a store where you can purchase items, like weapons, potions, and even skills.]

"I see..." That was the only thing Kieran could say because he was too surprised.

What really was this system? And these features? There were too many questions.

[The system store is more helpful than it may seem. It'll help a lot in the long run.]

"Hmm, but leave that for now. I want to know about this 'Ability Energy' you've been talking about, and I also remember that I used it to activate the Lightning Spear skill," Kieran said.

[Oh, that's actu—]

Suddenly...

"Aghhh!!!!!" Kieran let out a chilling scream as he gripped his head.

His eyes widened in shock as he realized what was happening...

"Wh... what are these... m... memories...?"
