67. Clefairy and Meteorite

"Clefairy!!!" Misty shouted as she sprinted towards Clefairy, with the group of four arriving at the site of the Meteorite pit.
"AH! WHAT IS THIS?!"
Seymour was astonished by the scene before him. The large Meteorite pit appeared somewhat dark, with sunlight streaming down and casting an ethereal glow on the uneven Meteorite surface.
Despite studying Mt. Moon for many years, he had never discovered a place like this.
"Could this Meteorite be... a Moonstone? So big?!" Seymour exclaimed in disbelief. Mt. Moon had produced many Moonstones before, but they were always small fragments.
But this entire Meteorite appeared to be made of Moonstones—its enormous size was unimaginable. Once word spread, countless people would flock to it.
"Clefairy, are you alright?" Misty asked worriedly as she picked up Clefairy, who had been blown away by the force of the wind. She then glanced at the Meteorite with a deep, uneasy feeling.
"So, you're here to protect this Meteorite!" she finally realized, understanding why Clefairy was so frightened, yet still insisted on following the Axew.
Axew!!!
At that moment, Axew let out a furious roar and turned its gaze towards Ash. Its scarlet eyes were wild with rage, and Ash and the others seemed to be nothing more than the poachers from before.
"Ash, it doesn't look like it's going to calm down. What do we do next?"
Brock looked at Ash, concerned. Pokémon are innocent, and Axew's current state was likely due to the actions of the poachers. Brock, observing the situation, wasn't sure what to do.
"I'm a Trainer, so I'll handle this like a Trainer should." Ash responded seriously, locking eyes with the frenzied Axew.
"You're going to...!" Brock hesitated for a moment, but he knew that if Ash could defeat and capture Axew, it might bring the situation under control.
"Pikachu, go!"
Ash didn't waste any more time and immediately sent Pikachu into battle. Pikachu leaped in front of Ash, ready to face Axew. As soon as Axew saw Pikachu, it charged forward without hesitation.
Axew extended its claws, which gleamed with a silvery white light, and slashed towards Pikachu.
"Use Agility!" Ash commanded. Noticing the ferocity of Axew's attack, he recognized that in its crazed state, it only knew how to strike. Ash decided to exploit this.
Pika!!
Pikachu swiftly moved, darting left and right at high speed to dodge Axew's claw attacks. Axew paused only briefly before rushing towards Pikachu again.
Fortunately, Pikachu's speed was superior. The quick dodges rendered Axew's attacks ineffective, and the furious Pokémon's claws only slashed at the air where Pikachu had been moments earlier. Pikachu had already leaped into the sky.
"Use Iron Tail!"
Pika-chu!!!
Pikachu descended from above, its tail glowing with a metallic sheen as the silvery light cut through the air.
But Axew didn't flinch. Instead, it leaped into the air, its sharp teeth gleaming as it lunged at the silver light.
Boom!!!
A dull thud echoed as the two Pokémon collided midair, with Axew biting down on Pikachu's tail.
"Pika!!" Pikachu gasped in surprise, unable to react in time as Axew twisted its body.
Pikachu felt a sudden force pulling him, and before he knew it, he was being hurled through the air, his body spiraling uncontrollably.
Boom!!!
As Pikachu landed heavily on the ground, a cloud of smoke billowed around him. Ash frowned slightly, his eyes fixed on the dissipating smoke. As it cleared, Pikachu slowly rose to his feet, shaking his head to clear the daze.
"Pikachu, are you alright?" Ash called out with concern.
"Pika!" Pikachu responded with a determined nod, his eyes burning with fighting spirit.
Axew!!
However, the moment Axew touched down, it wasted no time, immediately launching another attack. A blue light began to gather in its abdomen, surging up toward its mouth.
Boom!!!!
The blue light shot toward Pikachu with immense power. Ash knew he couldn't afford to be careless.
"Dragon Rage is coming, Pikachu! Dodge it with Quick Attack!"
"Pika!" Pikachu quickly leaped to the side, narrowly avoiding the Dragon Rage. As soon as he landed, he transformed into a silver blur, speeding toward Axew.
The furious Axew, still in the midst of releasing Dragon Rage, couldn't keep up with Pikachu's lightning-fast movements. Pikachu struck Axew hard, sending it flying backward into a rock, and then rebounding off it.
"Now!" Ash's eyes lit up as he seized the opportunity. He quickly pulled out a Poké Ball and threw it toward the spot where Axew had fallen.
Bang!! Hoo!!!
The Poké Ball struck Axew and opened with a loud snap, releasing a burst of red light that enveloped Axew, turning it into energy and drawing it into the ball.
The Poké Ball hit the ground with a soft thud and began to shake violently. The button on its front flashed red, as Brock and the others watched, holding their breath in nervous anticipation.
Bang!! Exhausted!
Axew!!!
But suddenly, the Poké Ball burst open with a loud bang. A flash of blue light erupted, forcing the Poké Ball back and releasing Axew once more. The little dragon's eyes glowed an even fiercer red, now even angrier than before.
"It... it seems even more enraged," Seymour stammered, swallowing hard. It wasn't hard to understand why—having been captured by poachers before, Axew likely associated Ash's attempt to capture it with those painful memories.
"It's tough, all right. But I like that. The more personality a Pokémon has, the more I want to catch it." Ash smiled as he caught the Poké Ball that had bounced back.
In the Pokémon world, a Pokémon's individuality often indicated its strength. The failed capture attempt only fueled Ash's determination, and he squared off against Axew, ready for the next round.
