"Let's go!" Ash couldn't help but smile when he noticed the clumsy attempt at hiding, and then he turned to Brock.
Understanding the situation, Brock remained silent. As long as Misty was fine, there was nothing to worry about. After all, this was her home turf, and as long as she wasn't bullying others, everything should be fine.
"Where are you headed next? Are you going to the Cerulean Gym?"
"Well~~ Let's go to the Pokémon Center first!" Ash thought for a moment. Even though his Pokémon still had some energy, he decided it would be best to let them rest and recover fully before their next challenge.
No matter which gym you're facing, being prepared is key, so Ash decided to visit the Pokémon Center first. Plus, it was important to contact Pewter City.
"Got it! Then you head over there first. I need to stock up on some travel supplies, and I'll catch up with you afterward," Brock replied. Although he already had a lot of supplies, he liked to top up whenever they reached a new location.
"Okay, I'll go ahead." The two parted ways at the intersection, and Ash made his way to the Pokémon Center. Upon arrival, he approached the front desk.
"Nurse Joy, sorry to trouble you!" Ash placed Pikachu and his Poké Balls on the counter.
"No trouble at all! We'll have your Pokémon back to full health in no time." Nurse Joy, with Chansey by her side, took the tray with a warm smile and headed to the back. Meanwhile, Ash went to a nearby phone booth and called the Pewter City Police.
"Hello, this is Pewter City Police. Huh? Ash, is that you? Have you arrived in Cerulean City?"
Officer Jenny answered the call, her eyes lighting up when she recognized Ash.
"Yes, I just got here, and there's something I need to talk to you about..."
"You're calling about the Axew, right? The Professor figured as much. It really did leave with you, didn't it?" Officer Jenny interrupted, anticipating what Ash was going to say.
"Yeah, I had a feeling it would follow me, so I wanted to apologize."
"Don't worry about it! So, you've tamed it?" Jenny asked, waving her hand dismissively.
"Yeah!" Ash nodded slightly.
"In that case, it's perfectly normal for a trainer to catch a Pokémon. No need to apologize. You've actually saved us a lot of trouble. I hope you can train it well."
From their perspective, there was nothing lost—Ash had simply tamed a Pokémon. They didn't even have to send the Axew back to the Unova Region, especially since it had encountered poachers. The young Axew might not have trusted humans anymore, but now it had found a Trainer it could believe in.
This outcome couldn't have been better.
"Thank you!" Ash expressed his gratitude and hung up after exchanging a few more words.
With the Axew situation resolved, Ash waited for his Pokémon to recover before heading to the gym for a challenge.
However, something puzzled Ash. He remembered that when they first arrived in Cerulean City, Team Rocket should have already been there, causing trouble by stealing large water pipes and pumps, and even attacking the gym. But so far, nothing like that had happened, which surprised him a bit.
Is it because of the different itineraries that the plot changed, or was it something that happened in Mt. Moon? But considering the Rockets' relentless persistence, even if something happened at Mt. Moon, they wouldn't back down.
"Forget it! It's better this way."
I can't figure it out, and Ash doesn't want to dwell on it either. Anyway, it's better if they don't come causing trouble. Different schedules lead to different outcomes, so we can't keep viewing things from the original perspective.
The plot doesn't matter. My advantage is having more Pokémon than other Trainers, and that's enough.
I took a break at the Pokémon Center, and about an hour later, Nurse Joy announced that Ash should come to the front desk.
When Ash arrived, Pikachu had regained its energy. As Ash retrieved his Pokémon, Brock returned from outside.
The two went through the check-in procedures, deciding to stay at the Pokémon Center for the night.
"How's it going?" Brock asked as he approached Ash.
"Yeah! Everyone's recovered. How about you?" Ash nodded slightly.
"I'm doing fine."
"Then let's go!" It was still early, so Ash wanted to seize the opportunity to earn the Badge from the Cerulean Gym.
"Good idea!"
The two left the Pokémon Center, following the directions on the map towards the Cerulean Gym. As they walked, they admired the numerous fountains scattered throughout the city, a hallmark of Cerulean City.
"As expected of Cerulean City, you can't find scenery like this in Pewter City," Brock remarked, impressed by the stark contrast with his hometown. He was glad he'd decided to travel with Ash.
For someone like Brock, who grew up in Pewter City surrounded by rocks and rarely saw water, the sight of so many fountains was a refreshing change. It made him appreciate the decision to venture out.
"Each city has its own charm. Exploring these cities is one of the joys of travel."
"That's right!" Brock agreed. For him, traveling was about more than just seeing new places; it was about learning from them.
"Look, that's the Cerulean Gym over there!" The two soon arrived at a unique building that resembled a circus with its colorful exterior.
A huge Seel logo adorned the top of the building, visible from afar. Despite being a gym, it resembled an aquarium more than anything else.
"As expected of the Cerulean Gym. Compared to this, my Pewter Gym is really a bit shabby!" Brock couldn't help but exclaim as he gazed at the building.
"When it comes to gyms, the most important thing should be the strength of the Trainer. Let's go!"
Although many Gym Trainers have other jobs besides being a Gym Leader, their strength shouldn't be underestimated.
But compared to the others, the strength of the Cerulean Gym isn't particularly strong. Although I'm prepared for this, I hope it doesn't disappoint too much.
