Looking at Ash's smile, Daisy suddenly felt uneasy, and when Axew fell, her eyes widened in surprise.

She hadn't noticed any splash or sound of something falling into the water, but as she carefully scanned the battlefield, she realized what had happened.

At that moment, Axew was standing on a thick layer of ice, cautiously observing its surroundings. Everyone had been so focused on the battle that they hadn't noticed the change. Only now did they understand what had occurred.

Cloyster's recent attack had caused the temperature of the pool to drop rapidly. The Ice Beam had formed a thick layer of frost, turning the entire pool into a flat, icy surface. "This...this is..."

Violet and Lily, watching from the shore, were equally astonished.

"I see now! Ash has been dodging all this time, using Cloyster's attacks to freeze the pool, so that Axew would have a solid surface to stand on, maximizing its power. Brilliant!"

In the stands, Brock clenched his fists in excitement as he finally understood Ash's strategy.

Earlier, Axew had some footing on the floating boards atop the water, but jumping from them made it difficult to maintain balance, limiting its ability to gather power. By dodging Cloyster's attacks, Ash had cleverly used the Ice Beam to freeze the water's surface, giving Axew a stable platform from which to launch its attacks.

"As expected of Ash!" Misty finally exhaled in relief. She had been worried when it seemed like Ash was on the defensive.

"You were so focused on attacking that you forgot about your footing," Ash said, his eyes gleaming. "In the pool, Axew didn't have an advantage, but now... it's our turn to strike."

"Let's go, Axew!"

As soon as Ash gave the order, Axew rushed forward with a low growl. Realizing that the pool had frozen, Daisy began to panic and quickly gave her own command.

"Cloyster, use Ice Shard!!"

Bang! Bang!

Cloyster continuously launched shards of ice towards Axew, but Axew was now gliding effortlessly across the frozen surface. With the speed boost from four Dragon Dances, Axew was already fast, but the icy surface made it even quicker.

Cloyster's attacks couldn't keep up, and the distance between the two Pokémon closed rapidly.

"Darn it! It's too fast! Cloyster, defend with Withdraw!" Daisy ordered in desperation.

Cloyster's attack failed to connect, and Daisy began to panic. Unable to find a way to counterattack, she could only order Cloyster to defend. Cloyster quickly retreated into its shell, closing its double-layered defense tightly as it began to emit a faint glow.

"You won't stop it this time! Axew, use Bite!" Ash commanded.

Axew glided rapidly across the ice, watching Cloyster withdraw into its shell. With a powerful leap, Axew closed the distance in an instant, its sharp teeth flashing with a dazzling light. It bit down hard on Cloyster's shell.

"Impossible! Cloyster's defense is supposed to be indestructible!" Daisy exclaimed, still confident in her Pokémon's resilience.

Ka-Ka-Ka-Ka!!!

The sound of metal grinding against metal echoed through the battlefield as Axew's Bite took hold. Daisy watched nervously, but Ash remained calm.

Axew's eyes flashed as it bit down with incredible force, exerting ten powerful bursts of energy with its jaws.

Boom!!!

A loud crack resounded as Cloyster's shell suddenly splintered under Axew's Bite, the cracks spreading rapidly.

"What!!" Daisy gasped in horror.

"It's over, Axew! Finish it with Dragon Rage!" Ash shouted as Cloyster's shell began to crumble.

Axew held Cloyster firmly in its grasp, a blue light glowing from its abdomen as energy surged up to its mouth.

Boom!!!

The powerful Dragon Rage erupted at point-blank range, blasting into Cloyster. Even the toughest defense can falter when hit in a weak spot, and Cloyster's shell could no longer hold against the force.

The energy of Dragon Rage poured into Cloyster's shell through the cracks. With no way for the energy to escape, the pressure within Cloyster's shell built up, preventing it from closing its outer shell. The force caused the shell to open, allowing Dragon Rage to strike Cloyster's inner shell directly, triggering a massive explosion.

The force of the Dragon Rage pushed Cloyster down into the ice, shattering the frozen surface, which was only a few feet thick. Beneath the ice, there was still water, and Cloyster was driven to the bottom of the pool by the sheer impact. The explosion sent shattered ice and water flying into the air, raining down on the battlefield.

As the energy of Dragon Rage subsided, the artificial rain slowly ceased. The pool, now mostly restored to its original state, had a slightly lower water level. Axew, having fallen from the air, landed on a floating piece of ice, its eyes scanning the area. The spectators all watched the pool nervously.

Slowly, a shadow emerged from the water—it was Cloyster. Its shell was open, the usual smirk gone. Its eyes rolled back, clearly fainted.

Seeing this, everyone knew the battle was over. Despite herself, Daisy let out a sigh of relief.

"Ash won!!" Misty cheered from the stands. Yet, her feelings were conflicted. She didn't know whether to be happy for Ash or sad for the Cerulean Gym.
