"The Rockets? I didn't expect them to infiltrate this deeply. Is everything alright with the school?"

In the principal's office, the college principal was facing a computer screen. On the screen, a man with sharp eyes and flamboyant red hair appeared.

"Everything's fine. The students are united, and the situation has been resolved," the principal replied with relief.

"Really? The Rockets are getting stronger by the day, while our numbers keep dwindling," the man on the screen said, sounding concerned.

"I understand. Traveling back and forth between Kanto and Johto must be exhausting. The situation in Johto is also quite severe... You don't need to push yourself so hard."

"It's alright. Johto can manage, but I can't abandon Kanto," the red-haired man replied, shaking his head slightly.

The man on the screen was no ordinary individual; he was Lance, the Elite Four champion Ash had mentioned earlier.

Lance hails from Blackthorn City, known as the hometown of dragons in the Johto region. He is widely recognized as the strongest Trainer and the undisputed Elite Four champion in Johto, known for his mastery over Dragon-type Pokémon.

Although Lance's hometown is in Johto, he grew up in Kanto. Few people know that he was once a student at this very school. Back then, Lance, much like Ash, was a typical underachiever and often the target of ridicule from his classmates. However, unlike Ash, Lance had a much tougher character.

After enduring the cold stares, he left the school and quickly made a name for himself. Upon returning to his hometown, he challenged the Pokémon League, ultimately defeating the Elite Four to become the champion.

Despite his achievements, Lance holds a special place in his heart for the Kanto region, where he first grew up. It was also in Kanto that he gained a mysterious power known as the Power of Everlasting.

This power, a gift from Kanto, fuels his sense of duty to protect the region. Now, Lance not only plays a role in Johto but also in Kanto.

In recent years, Kanto has seen a decline in exceptional Trainers, leaving the region without a champion. The Elite Four has struggled as well, with only two active members: Lorelei, the Ice-type Elite, and Agatha, the Ghost-type Elite.

Agatha, while still formidable, is aging, and Lorelei can't handle everything alone. With the Rockets' increasing influence in both Kanto and Johto, the lack of Elite Trainers in Kanto has become a significant problem.

"You're still the same," the principal said, "even after everything you went through at this school, you haven't forgotten that it's your alma mater."

The principal smiled faintly, reminiscing about the boy who had walked out of the school, ridiculed as a deserter, yet never looking back.

"It's enough to get cold stares. If it weren't for those cold stares, I wouldn't be who I am today," Lance responded calmly. Back then, his poor grades had earned him many scornful looks, but he never lost his temper.

Now, however, he found himself almost grateful to those who had once looked down on him. The very people who had dismissed him now saw things very differently.

When he left, his only goal was to make a name for himself and prove them wrong. But now that he had reached this position, the desire for revenge had faded—those people were no longer worth his time.

"Hehe, it's funny how things turn out. A special young man came to the school today—he reminds me a lot of you when you were younger," the principal said with a smile.

"Oh? A new student?" Lance asked, intrigued.

"No, he's a traveling Trainer. His name is Ash, from Pallet Town. He spent the day here at our school, and I must say, he made quite an impression."

"Pallet Town?" Lance repeated, his brow furrowing in thought.

"This boy is something special. Just like you, no matter the type of Pokémon he uses, he manages to bring out their full potential. His battle style is unique."

"I believe, in the near future, he might even reach your level," the principal added.

To most people, the principal's words might have seemed exaggerated. After all, Lance's strength wasn't something an average Trainer could hope to match. Despite being the champion of Johto, Lance had no equal in Kanto either, and he was widely regarded as the strongest Trainer across both regions.

Comparing Lance to a Rookie Trainer might sound absurd, but the principal knew what he was saying. Back when Lance was still at this school, despite his poor grades, the principal had always believed in his potential and often encouraged him.

This was why, even now, Lance still felt a connection to his alma mater. And the principal was confident he wasn't misjudging Ash either.

"Really? Now I'm looking forward to seeing how he grows. It could be great for the Kanto region!" Lance said, his interest in Ash piqued by the principal's words.
