After Ash and his group set off again, they were unaware of the situation at the academy.
After leaving the Pokémon Academy, they continued moving forward, but because of various delays and the dense forested mountains, they were still in the woods by nightfall.
The group decided to camp in the wild. Without time for afternoon tea, Brock specially prepared a lavish meal for everyone.
After eating, Ash trained his Pokémon as usual, temporarily giving Pikachu the booster he had received from A.J. Pikachu's condition wasn't as bad as it had been in the anime. His body had been trained for a while, but wearing the enhancer still made him a little uncomfortable. However, it wasn't as immobilizing as it had been in the anime.
Using the booster affected Pikachu significantly while practicing Electro Ball, but Ash knew that training in this extreme environment would help Pikachu grow stronger.
Ash didn't train for too long, knowing they had to leave early the next morning. However, after just two hours, Pikachu was already more exhausted than he would be after a full day of training.
In the end, Ash helped Pikachu relax by massaging his muscles. Pikachu fell asleep almost immediately. Ash glanced inside the tent—Misty and Brock were already asleep. He unzipped the tent, looked at his other Pokémon, all snuggled up and sound asleep, and whispered, "Good night," before going to bed.
The next day...
"Pikachu, use Electro Ball again!" Ash's excited voice echoed through the woods early in the morning.
"~~~!!!"
When morning arrived, Brock and Misty were still asleep, but Ash and Pikachu had already risen. Even the other Pokémon were still resting.
Ash and Pikachu quietly moved away from the camp to start training again. Over the past few days, Pikachu had grown more skilled, likely due to last night's training.
This morning, Pikachu was adjusting to the enhancer, and its effects were becoming more apparent. Pikachu seemed much more comfortable using his moves now.
Leaping into the air, Pikachu's tail crackled with electricity as it formed a glowing Saffron-colored Energy Ball. The ball emitted arcs of electricity, and Ash watched with a mix of excitement and nerves. Previously, the energy had always spiraled out of control at this stage.
But this time, Pikachu maintained control. The Energy Ball grew larger, surpassing the size of a baby's fist and eventually reaching the size of an adult's fist. It continued to expand, reaching the perfect form of Electro Ball.
"That's it, Pikachu! Try to launch it with your tail," Ash said, his eyes shining with hope. After hundreds of failed attempts, this time felt different.
Pikachu wagged his tail, concentrating hard. The Energy Ball, though it seemed small, was packed with immense power. Luckily, Ash had Pikachu learn Iron Tail first.
With Pikachu's enhanced tail strength, as long as he could stabilize the Energy Ball, there would be no problem.
"Chupi~~chupi!!!" Pikachu cried, following Ash's commands, and swung his tail with force.
Boom!! Boom!!!
The Energy Ball launched from Pikachu's tail, crashing directly into a large tree in front of them. The ball exploded with incredible force, unleashing a surge of electricity in the process.
The moment the tree shattered from the impact, it was engulfed by lightning. A cloud of smoke filled the air, carrying the scent of burning wood.
In the blink of an eye, the entire tree had turned to charcoal, and Pikachu fell from the sky.
"Pi~~pi~pi~~" Pikachu landed on all fours, panting heavily as he stared ahead.
Having just gotten used to the enhancer, Pikachu still couldn't fully control his power. Ash looked at the scene with a proud smile on his face.
"It finally worked. Great job, Pikachu!" Ash said, satisfied. While Pikachu's power had been boosted, he was still relying on the enhancer.
Electro Ball's strength depends on the speed of the Pokémon using it. In Pikachu's current state, he couldn't reach his maximum speed due to the enhancer. However, once the booster was removed, the Electro Ball's power could still be increased.
"The next step is to adapt to this move and master it completely," Ash added.
"Pika!" Pikachu, thrilled by Ash's praise, jumped onto him and affectionately rubbed his face.
"Alright, that's enough for today. Let's head back!" Ash said, helping Pikachu remove the enhancer. They then started walking back toward the camp.
But as they left, the bushes nearby suddenly rustled, and a figure whose color blended with the surrounding plants slowly emerged from the foliage.
It glanced at the scorched tree, then stared in the direction of Ash and Pikachu with a hostile look.
Unaware of what was happening behind him, Ash returned to the camp, where Brock and Misty had already woken up. Brock had prepared a hearty breakfast for everyone, including food for the Pokémon. The three of them sat down together to eat.
Woo woo woo!!!
"Huh? What's that sound?" Misty asked, standing up and looking around curiously.
Next to the camp, by a mountain spring, a Pokémon was drinking water.
"Is that... Oddish?"
Oddish had five green leaves sprouting from its head, and its blue, radish-like body made its bright red eyes stand out.
"It's so cute! I want to catch it!" Misty exclaimed excitedly.
"Don't you usually catch Water-type Pokémon?" Ash asked while chewing on his breakfast.
"That's true, but if it's cute, I'm willing to make an exception," Misty replied. She eagerly pulled out a Poké Ball and prepared to throw it.
