Sora's POV
Still feeling sleepy as hell, I slowly forced myself off my bed. My eyes feel weird. Why? I quickly walked into the bathroom to find my swollen eyes from crying all night.
"Urgh," I groaned, leaning over the sink to wash my face and quickly brushed my teeth.
"It's not even fixed yet," I grumbled, pressing the service button in frustration. Sighing, I pulled on my hoodie and walked down the empty hallway while keeping my head low. No one can see me like this. I look like an alien from Area 51.
"Ahhhhh~" Jungkook came strolling out of his room while yawning causing me to stop dead in panic.
"Shit," I muttered, quickly turning the other way to avoid him.
"Yah! Where are you going?" Jungkook called out. I stopped dead. You can't turn around Sora... you look like a freaking clown.
"I'm going to my room," I replied without turning to look at him. I could hear him approaching me, so I quickly walked towards my room but he tugged me backward.
"What's wrong with you? You think I didn't see you turn around?" He asked while facing me, so I hid my face under the hood.
"Not hungry anymore," I tried to turn away again, but he stopped me. What's the matter with him?
"Something is wrong with you..." Jungkook bent down to look at me, so I turned my head away in embarrassment.
"Hajima..." I whined while covering my face. Aishhh this guy!
"Why are you covering your face?" He laughed, trying to get a glimpse of my face, but I blocked it with my hands.
"Let me see!" He chuckled, pulling my hands but I refused to look at him.
"Go away!" I whined, trying to escape but he was stronger than me so he managed to pull my hands away from my face.
"Hah! Look at you!" Jungkook laughed at my puffy eyes. Asshole.
"Are you happy now?" I gritted while glaring at him with my puffy eyes. Jungkook held my hands in the air, laughing harder the longer he stared at me.
"Don't even try to glare at me with those puffy eyes! You'll just look uglier," He sniggered and darted me a teasing expression. I'm gonna smack you, you little shit.
"What's going on?" Taehyung called from behind us, making my heart leap in panic. I really don't want to see him!
"Ah, she looks funny," Jungkook laughed, placing his hands on my shoulders before turning me around to face Taehyung. His touch made me feel weird and uncomfortable, so I shrugged his hands off my shoulders. Why are they so touchy!!! They need to respect my personal boundaries!
"Your eyes..." Taehyung muttered, staring at me anxiously when he noticed my swollen eyelids.
"Isn't it funny, hyung?" Jungkook chuckled, taking another look at my eyes. He let out a funny laugh again. I feel so humiliated. Let me go!
"Yeah, you look funny," Taehyung slightly smiled at my unappealing appearance. Is he seriously mocking me too?! I stared at him in disbelief.
"I'm going back into my room," I grunted, giving up on both of them. Fuck both of them.
"Nope, let's go eat and see if my parents notice your eyes!" Jungkook suddenly wrapped his arm around my shoulder and dragged me the other way.
"Aish! Andwae!!" I whined, pushing Jungkook away, but he wouldn't let go and led me all the way to the dining room.
"Come with me," Taehyung demanded, dragging me out of the dining room before Jungkook could announce my ugly face to everyone. Now I'm being dragged back and forth! What am I? A toy?!
"It hurts... can you not...?" I mumbled quietly as he held on to my wounded wrist.
"Oh. I forgot, sorry..." Taehyung apologized, letting go of my hand. I don't want to talk or look at him. He terrifies me.
"Sit here," Taehyung pointed to the couch and disappeared into a room. I glanced around the Kim's mansion. It is as big as the Jeon's but it's more modern than the Jeon's. The Jeon's mansion had a more traditional Korean design.
"I'm really sorry," He apologized again after coming back out of the room with an ice pack.
"It's fine," I whispered, avoiding his eyes as he sat down beside me.
"It's not fine. I was a bit too harsh," He stared at me, but I looked away.
"Hah... a bit..?" I laughed dryly. He calls the dark bruises around my wrist a bit harsh? You almost broke my wrist.
"Maybe it's not a bit, but I'm truly sorry," He sighed, attempting to place the ice pack on my eyelids, but I dodged it.
"I can do it myself," I muttered, reaching out for it. Taehyung refused and pushed my hands away.
"Let me make up for my harsh act toward you. Jebal..." He suddenly placed his hand against my cheek, making me flinch at his unexpected touch.
"You're scared of me," He whispered at my withdrawal. He gently turned my face towards him and placed the ice pack on my eyelids.
"Tell me if it's too cold," He muttered. I could feel the icy cold pack against my face, so I closed my eyes and said nothing.
"I hurt your wrist pretty bad," Taehyung sighed heavily when I refused to talk. I opened my eyes to look at the purple bruise around my right wrist, yet I remained silent.
"Aish jinja. I'm sorry- say something- I don't like the silent treatment!" He sighed in a restless tone after putting the ice pack down to glare at me with an upset expression. He almost looks like he's pouting, but he's way too cool for that.
"It's fine. I shouldn't have run away like that," I weakly smiled at him. Yeah, it was immature of me to run away, so it's partly my fault.
"You shouldn't have done that. You're a fool. I was the one to take you out, so it's my responsibility to look after you. If anything happens to you... my parents and Mr. Jeon will kill me," He chuckled quietly.
"Why panic though? I'm not a kid- it's not like I'll get abducted or something. I know you're not telling me something," I confronted him. Taehyung picked up the ice pack and pressed it on my eyelids again.
"It's better if you don't know about this but if you insist, I'll tell you so stop running away, okay?" He replied while holding the pack against my face.
"What's an alpha? Jimin said you're an alpha, Jimin is also an alpha and-"
"Yeah, that's what we're called, yes. It's what they call the heirs in each household," Taehyung withdrew the ice pack from my face again.
"Why so dramatic?" I chuckled and rolled my eyes. This sounds straight out of a kdrama or something, it's weird.
"It does sound dramatic, but we don't have a choice. We're born into a family of the biggest shareholders. It's not as nice as it seems... to be rich," Taehyung shook his head and stared blankly at his hands.
"Why? You have everything," I questioned, glancing around the mansion. This is happiness.
"I do, yeah we do, but the one thing we don't have is security. Our life is always in danger," He shook his head. In danger?
"What... why?" I asked in confusion.
"The largest shareholders compete for the top place and the alphas are the only weapon they have. That's us. The rules are that each household should have an alpha to compete. Without an alpha, the household will lose everything, even their life sometimes," Taehyung looked at me sadly. Wow. Appa never told me this.
"Why kill each other? Can't you just live a normal life?" I asked. Taehyung picked up the ice pack and placed it on my eyelids again.
"I wish. It was peaceful back during our ancestor's time, but things got wild. People become greedy, so they try to kill the alphas... they cheat to get rid of the households and climb the hierarchy rank. And we're trapped in the game. There's no exit," Taehyung spoke in a weak tone. This sounds so surreal. I can't even believe what I'm hearing.
"What about the government? Don't they do anything about it? I mean everyone is killing everyone else- they should interfere," I asked, pushing the ice pack off my face to look at him.
"Tsk. The rich funds the government, Sora. With money, we have power. Most of the time it's not the government that has the most power, it's the rich. Governments are just puppets," Taehyung smiled at me. Huh. I stare at him dumbfoundedly. Is he serious??
"Yeah, it's a lot to take in. I know. That's why I want you to stay out of it," He smiled at me.
"Don't alphas hang around with other alphas?" I chuckled. I'm merely an average.
"Hmm, it seems like that to the world but no, it's rare. We have to be extremely careful around the other alphas because of unforeseen betrayals. The only person I trust is Jungkook because he's my cousin and we're allies but we always fight. And Jimin, I've known him for a long time," Taehyung shrugged. Allies... alphas... wow. This sounds like a world war.
"Huh, sounds fun," I nodded, overwhelmed by the information he fed me.
"That's why I'm trying to hang around you instead because I know you don't plan on putting a bullet in my heart or set a bomb in my house," He chuckled at me.
"How sweet, but I do plan on stabbing you though," I teased.
"Nah, you don't," He laughs at me. Too much going on. Does appa know about this?
"Mr. Kim and Ms. Jang, I'm told to bring you back to the dining room by Mr. Jeon," A housemaid came through the door to request our presence in the dining room.
"Araso," Taehyung got up.
"Do my eyes look okay now?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"Yeah, better. So, am I forgiven? You're the only person I know, who doesn't plan on killing me," Taehyung smiled as we made our way back to the dining room.
"I guess so," I shrugged as he held the door open for me.
"Good morning," I bowed at them, but there was someone else in the room. A girl, about my age. She's dressed in a very formal dress.
"Hey you, can you bring me some more tea?" She ordered, rudely waving at me. What the fuck. Am I a servant? Jungkook tugged her arm, wanting to say something but she ignored him.
"Didn't you hear me?" She glared at me. Omo, another rude kid. I walked toward the teacup, but Taehyung grabbed my hand and held me back.
"Minah-"
"Taehyung-shi, she can do it herself. When did you become so nice to the housemaid?" Minah turned to snap at Taehyung. Who is she? Why does she act like she owns the place???
"I am not a housemaid, don't boss me around like that," I coldly replied. The girl was taken aback by my words. She stared at me in shock, so Jungkook facepalmed himself in embarrassment.
"W-what did you say? Look at the way you dress- Did you just talk back at me?" She asked, standing up angrily. Rich people have no manners at all. Just saying. They think they're on top of the world.
"You think I'm scared of your pretty face?" I asked, folding my arms at me. The girl scoffed and stared at me with her eyes wide open in disbelief.
"Where's your manner Minah-shi? She's our guest, you don't get to boss her around," Taehyung glared at her.
"Jungkook! Why are you silent?!" Minah turned to look at Jungkook for help, but he didn't defend her and glanced away with an irritated look.
"Ms. Kang, Sora is a part of the family. Please be respectful," Mr. Jeon finally spoke in a deep voice, frightening her.
"Oh, neh! I'm sorry Mr. Jeon and I'm sorry, Sora," She glared at me and sat back down next to Jungkook.
"Come on," Jungkook muttered, grabbing Minah's hand.
"I haven't-"
"I said come on!" Jungkook snapped angrily and dragged her out of the room.
"Sweet girl," Mrs. Jeon smiles at her food. Is she blind or is she crazy?
"I can't believe you think she's sweet, just look at her attitude." Mrs. Kim rolls her eyes at her sister. See, this is why I love Mrs. Kim.
"Who's that?" I asked Taehyung as we sat down at the dining table.
"Jungkook's girlfriend," Taehyung shook his head. He has a girlfriend like that?
"Her?" I asked, staring at him in shock. He must be kidding me right?
"Yeah, I know right? I'll never date anyone like that," Taehyung shrugged while digging into his food. Well, I don't feel bad for Jungkook, he deserves someone like that for being so damn rude and mean.
