Chapter 10

William Stryker!

This name resonated with global fame, his notoriety echoing across the world. His greatest achievement, above all, was incurring the wrath of the entire mutant race. Even the conservative mutant, Professor Charles Xavier, held significant reservations towards him, not to mention the extreme representative of mutants, Erik Lehnsherr, who harbored a deep-seated hatred.

Through a quick search on his phone, Su Chen immediately linked to the topic of "General Stryker" and learned about the mutant race. According to Professor Xavier's longstanding explanation, every human body potentially carries an X-gene; the distinction lies in mutants whose X-gene is fully expressed. This explains why ordinary parents can give birth to mutant children.

"I'm not a mutant..." Su Chen frowned slightly, realizing why he had been abruptly transferred to another experimental base.

However, despite everything, he harbored a slight sympathy towards mutants who possessed supernatural powers. Perhaps empathy played a role; after all, they too suffered from injustice and oppression.

Clang! At that moment, a bottle of lemon soda was placed on his table, emitting a crisp sound. "Hey, who eats a bag of donuts without feeling thirsty?" A girl with two golden ponytails teased. She had been sitting opposite him at the bar and seemed quite interested in this handsome boy who loved donuts.

Mindy's delicate face was full of curiosity as she remarked, "It's so late, aren't you going home? Is your homework done? There's no school tomorrow!"

Su Chen was left speechless by her barrage of questions. Not because her topics hit close to home, but...

"Seriously, where did you learn that old-fashioned tone? I'm not that much older than you, sis, and I've accomplished so much when I was your age, I was like a force of nature..."

Mindy looked at Su Chen's speechless face and gestured playfully. Besides making a pretty convincing show of combat skills, enough to impress.

"Here, have this lemon tea, and make sure to drink it all before you head home," Mindy said casually, not paying much attention to the aloof teenager as she stylishly walked away. With her twin golden ponytails swaying beneath her petite and cute figure.

For a moment, Su Chen remembered his younger sister.

...

...

Half an hour later, having solved his hunger issue, Su Chen left the restaurant. It was late at night, and now he needed to find a place to stay. However, a practical issue loomed large.

The problem was where to stay. Regular hotels required identification, and finding irregular lodgings was even harder. Besides, they might not welcome an underage boy.

After much thought, Su Chen decided to set aside the issue of accommodation for the night. His undying body's metabolism ensured his cells were always active, brimming with life-healing energy. Even amidst the fallout from a nuclear explosion, Su Chen felt little fatigue, physically or mentally.

"Most importantly, I need to quickly figure out how to find my family's whereabouts."

Thunk! A steel coin flicked from Su Chen's right hand, rising into the air before slowly descending. Just as it landed precisely in his palm, the entire coin vanished into thin air.

In the next moment, as if performing a magic trick, a brand-new coin appeared out of thin air in his hand.

Then...

Thunk! Another crisp sound as Su Chen flicked it again. This time, the entire coin disappeared completely in midair.

The invisible ripple of "Reality Rewrite" made tracking such manifestations difficult, a power that allowed Su Chen to conjure and vanish a coin at will.

This wasn't showmanship; it was Su Chen's own use of the "Reality Rewrite" ability to its fullest.

The genes of infinite evolution indeed mutated chaotically.

However, past experiences had taught Su Chen that external stimuli and excessive use of this ability could attract unwanted attention to the direction of his genetic evolution.

Typically, such powers required an emotional outburst to fully rewrite reality. But creating and vanishing a coin like this, conjuring it out of thin air and erasing it from existence, naturally didn't depend on emotional fluctuations.

"Practice more to evolve..."

The system he constructed efficiently recorded genetic transformations.

Su Chen strode through the nocturnal streets with a black hood, dressed in a black trench coat, earphones in, a coin flipping and leaping in his hand, mysteriously vanishing and reappearing, his slender and lean figure walking with unparalleled aloofness.

Wandering aimlessly, he admired the nighttime scenery of Manhattan.

Yet, the beautiful life he had yearned for years ago was gradually fading from his mind. If he couldn't control the life and death of himself and those around him, how would life unfold thereafter?

He needed to become stronger!

Only the strong could crush all obstacles.

Just then, from a nearby alleyway, came the sound of sparks from collisions, accompanied by the muffled reports of gunfire from silencers.

Su Chen's sensitive hearing caught everything.

His impassive face betrayed no emotion. Having witnessed organ trafficking, he had encountered several robberies during his stroll through the bustling city, revealing the hidden filth behind the vibrant metropolis.

This gradually altered his perception of the world.

His mother had always taught him to be good, and he had agreed in the past.

But the series of experiences over the past half-month had left him somewhat numb.

In his heart, he still debated whether to seek revenge.

On the one hand, he yearned for a peaceful life, to return to the simple warmth of a normal family.

Yet, on the other hand, he couldn't quell the resentment in his heart. Why should he suffer so much adversity for no reason? Why should villains roam free, mercilessly hunting down people like him?

Storms brewed within Su Chen's heart.

He pondered.

The next moment...

Su Chen's steps halted, his gaze fixed on the intersection of an alleyway not far away. A girl in a black cloak and purple hair was engaged in a whirlwind of combat against several assailants.

With a katana in one hand and a butterfly knife in the other, she swiftly dispatched her attackers.

Su Chen didn't know this woman's alias, the "Super Slayer."

But he did know that this girl with purple wig and clad in black battle garb was the same girl who had handed him a lemon soda at the restaurant moments ago.

What a coincidence...

Su Chen frowned, relying on his innate combat intuition to realize that this girl was in imminent danger.
