The Turning Point

Tiwa knew she had to pull herself together, just as the professor had advised. She poured all her energy into beautifying her project, adding final touches that made it stand out even more. Professor Müller was wowed by her dedication and the improvements she had made.

"Tiwa, this is amazing! With this project, I'm confident the trophy is ours," he said, his eyes gleaming with pride.

"Thank you, Professor. I couldn't have done it without your support," Tiwa replied, smiling.

Meanwhile, Dapo had made a life-changing decision. He had decided to leave school and move back to Nigeria to seize the opportunity offered by Mavin Records. He discussed his plans with his producer, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.

"I've decided to take the deal and drop out of school," Dapo told his producer.

"Are you sure about this, Dapo? It's a big step," the producer replied, concern in his voice.

"Yes, I'm sure. Music is my passion, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Dapo said firmly, though his thoughts drifted to Tiwa.

"What about Tiwa? Have you told her yet?" the producer asked.

"No, not yet. I'll tell her after the competition," Dapo replied.

That night, Dapo called his parents to inform them of his decision. His father was furious.

"You're throwing away your education for music? How could you be so foolish?" his father shouted.

"Dad, this is what I love. Music is my dream," Dapo responded, trying to stay calm.

His mother interjected, her voice softer. "Follow your heart, Dapo. Do what makes you happy."

"Dapo, if you go through with this, don't bother coming back home. You're no longer my son," his father declared, cutting off the call.

Dapo was devastated but knew he had to stay strong. Music was his passion, and he couldn't let anything deter him.

The morning of the competition, Tiwa woke up with determination. "Today is the day," she said to herself, preparing for what could be the most important day of her life.

The university had arranged for a bus to take them to the competition venue. The atmosphere on the bus was filled with anticipation. Dapo was there, and he tried to keep the mood light, sharing jokes and encouraging words.

"Tiwa, you're going to nail this. Just remember, you're the best," Dapo said, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Thanks, Dapo. I appreciate it," Tiwa replied, managing a small smile.

"There's something I need to tell you, but it can wait until after the competition," Dapo added, his tone more serious.

"Alright, we'll talk later," Tiwa agreed, feeling a twinge of anxiety about what he might say.

Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed at the venue. The energy was electric as participants from various universities gathered, ready to showcase their projects. The judges laid out the rules of the competition, emphasizing the importance of innovation and impact.

As each university presented, the tension in the room grew. Projects ranged from environmental sustainability to cutting-edge medical research. Tiwa watched each presentation, feeling both inspired and nervous.

Finally, it was her turn. Dapo and Professor Müller wished her luck as she stepped up to present.

"You've got this, Tiwa," Dapo whispered, squeezing her hand for reassurance.

"Go show them what you're made of," the professor added.

Tiwa introduced herself confidently. "Good day, esteemed judges and fellow participants. I am Tiwa from the University of Munich."

She then began her presentation on a groundbreaking project aimed at developing a non-invasive method for early detection of neurological diseases. Her explanation was clear and concise, her passion evident in every word. The judges were visibly impressed, and when she concluded, they all stood up and applauded.

"Thank you," Tiwa said, beaming with pride.

The presentations continued, but Tiwa felt like a winner already. When it was time to announce the results, the tension in the room was palpable. The head judge stepped forward with a smile.

"For the first time in history, the winner of the World Science Competition is the University of Munich, represented by Tiwa!"

The room erupted in cheers. Dapo rushed to Tiwa, lifting her off the ground in celebration. "Tiwa! Tiwa!" the crowd chanted.

Tiwa was handed the trophy and a medal, her eyes shining with tears of joy. It was a moment she would never forget. The news spread quickly, and soon all of Germany knew about Tiwa's incredible achievement.

The president of Germany, upon hearing the news, sent a convoy to bring Tiwa, Dapo, and Professor Müller to the presidential palace. They had lunch with the president, who congratulated Tiwa personally.

"Tiwa, you have made our country proud. As a token of our appreciation, I am awarding you a medal of honor, German citizenship, a house, and a car, along with a sum of $100,000," the president announced.

"Thank you, Mr. President, but I plan to return to Nigeria after my studies," Tiwa said respectfully.

The president looked disappointed but smiled. "I understand, but please accept these gifts and know that Germany will always be your second home."

Tiwa nodded, accepting the gifts graciously. The president also awarded the university $2,000,000 and additional science equipment. Dapo was ecstatic for Tiwa, unable to hide his joy.

"Tiwa, I'm so happy for you. You deserve all of this," he said, hugging her tightly.

"Thank you, Dapo. I couldn't have done it without your support," Tiwa replied.

As they left the presidential palace and drove to Tiwa's new house in her new car, the excitement was palpable. "This house is beautiful," Tiwa exclaimed, taking in her new surroundings.

Dapo was equally enthusiastic, exploring every room. "Tiwa, this is incredible! You've come so far," he said, pride evident in his voice.

The professor soon left, needing to attend to university matters, leaving Tiwa and Dapo alone. "Is this a dream?" Tiwa wondered aloud, still in disbelief.

"No, it's real. You earned every bit of this," Dapo assured her.

They sat together, talking and laughing about the day's events. Tiwa felt a sense of peace she hadn't felt in a long time.

"Dapo, thank you for everything. You've been amazing," she said, looking at him with gratitude.

"Anything for you, Tiwa," Dapo replied, his eyes softening.

As the evening grew late, Dapo knew he had to tell Tiwa about his decision, but he didn't want to spoil the moment. "I have something to tell you, but it can wait until tomorrow," he said.

"Alright, goodnight, Dapo. And thank you again," Tiwa said, hugging him.

"Goodnight, Tiwa. Sleep well," Dapo replied, leaving her with a heavy heart.
