Chapter 23: A Traitor's Revenge

My pulse thundered. "Her?"

The warrior hesitated. "They mean Hailey."

Emilia gasped. "No... it can't be. They know. They know she's the real Alpha."

My thoughts ran fast, joining the pieces. It was no more about me; it was about Hailey, her lineage, and something way bigger than we ever understood.

I clenched my fists. "Double the guards around Hailey and the kids. I want every border reinforced. No one enters or leaves without my approval."

The warrior nodded and vanished down the hall. I turned to Emilia, who was already pacing.

"We have to come out and say the truth to her," were her words, barely audible.

I exhaled sharply. "She's been through enough."

"And she will go through worse if she's unprepared!" Emilia retorted, glaring. "You can't protect her by keeping her in the dark. If they're after her, she deserves to know why."
