Chapter 32: The Battle for Power

The news of the enemy's movements had come too convenient, almost as if somebody wanted us to act in haste.

"Something doesn't add up," I finally spoke, my voice restrained but sharp. "We have internal leaks for sure. Until I find out who's leaking to the other side, there's no way I'm leading my troops into an ambush"

A murmur went through the council with some nodding in agreement and others shifting uncomfortably.

Then a voice cut through the room like a blade.

"Perhaps the problem isn't a spy but hesitation from leadership"

My gaze snapped toward the speaker-Ethan. He leaned back in his chair, arms crossed and expression unreadable but the harsh edge in his tone made my wolf bristle.

"Careful with your words" I said taking another measured step forward. "You seem to have forgotten who you're speaking to"
