Chapter 33: A Traitor’s Reckoning

Ethan nodded and shifted into his wolf form already, then ran toward the main house. Leon laughed darkly. "Too late, Alpha."

I didn't waste another second.

With a roar, I hit him again harder this time. The disgusting crack of his ribs breaking filled the air. But I didn't stop there. I seized his throat and my claws pierced his flesh.

"You underestimated me," I growled, my voice laced with raw, deadly anger. "And that was your last mistake." 

Leon's eyes widened at my slamming him against the wall and tightening my grip. His breath was short and gaspy. For the first time, I saw it—the flicker of fear in his gaze.

I was about to deal the killer blow when a long drawn out howl rose far away.

My heart stopped.

That was Hailey's wolf.

And she was in trouble.

Leon chuckled weakly, his voice rasping. "Go ahead. Run to her. But you'll never make it in time."

A surge of cold terror and fury crashed through me.
