Chapter 47: When Darkness Falls

She gazed at me again, turning around, and in her eyes you could see she was about to break into tears. She then asked me with a voice of concern" And what if that darkness is the only thing who's ever really gotten it about me?"

I felt something in me crack.

This wasn't just her giving in to temptation.

This was her breaking.

I had always fought for her. But maybe… maybe I had never fought to truly understand her.

And now, it might be too late.

She raised her hand, the dark veins throbbed beneath her flesh. Her fingers curled—reluctant yet submissive.

I stepped forward. "Emilia"

"Don't" she said and her voice barely whispered.

I stopped, then she took a step back away from me.

I could still hear Vickson's voice. 

Desperate. Pleading. 

The sound had faded into a distant echo from a life that had become unrecognizable to me.

A life I no longer belonged to.
