Chapter 10 – Reset and Evolution

He had never expected an apocalypse to end just like that because humans survived until midnight. Even without him interfering, everything would be fine.

'But if I die back then, my system will be deleted.'

No matter what happened, the world had changed and would continue to change from now on. It was indeed an apocalypse, an event that changed the whole world.

The notification hadn't ended yet.

[Distributing reward to everyone who survived the apocalypse.]

Vale waited with anticipation as a transparent screen appeared in front of him once again.

Rewards:

- 1000 Store Points for everyone who survived

- 1 Skill Book of any kind for everyone who survived

- Access to Store for everyone who survived

A book appeared in front of him from thin air. He caught it and looked at it carefully. When he did that, a window appeared on top of the book, explaining what it was.

[Skill Book - A book that allows you to learn a new skill.]

'Very interesting.' Vale smiled lightly. 'This is useless for me now, but I will keep it.'

He had a lot of skills that he didn't need to worry about learning a new one yet. Still, he didn't know what the future had for him, so he would keep it.

As for the store, it could be accessed through his status board. He wasn't curious enough to open it yet. He was tired and sleepy. He remembered 3 days ago was the last time he slept.

Vale thought the notification had ended, so lay on his bed. But it was proven to be wrong once again.

[Introducing a Ranking System]

[Incredible humans who defeat monsters during the apocalypse will be rewarded.]

The same window appeared in front of him again. This time, he saw his name on it.

"Yup, I get it now."

[Top 10 humans.]

Vale Gilstar - 281,291 Points Kiara Hunt - 42,350 Points Wang Bingwen - 25,890 Points Chen Zhou - 20,780 Points Alex Rodriguez - 12,090 Points Yamamoto Akari - 11,390 Points Diana Holloway - 8,970 Points White Tiger - 6,870 Points Alexander Tiana - 6,710 Points Che Ji-he - 6,010 Points

Humans were now ranked based on the monsters they killed. It was clear what it implied.

"Society will change." He whispered as he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

The sound of people outside his window screaming and running around couldn't wake him up at all. He killed more monsters than anyone else. Sleep was a reward he deserved.

The world had changed once again. And only time will tell how humans would deal with it from now on.

At least, he knew that strength would prove to be one of the most important things in this new world.

[Scenario 2 coming soon.]

***

World was changing, people were changing, and everything was changing. It was like a game that Vale played with the fate of the world. But it was reality.

What could he do? He could only continue his life and wait for the next scenario to start.

"Reported from Beijing, monsters had appeared in the city and a large castle was sighted in the city center. It's confirmed that it's not a hoax or a joke but real monsters and real castles. It's the Dungeon mentioned in the World Announcement!"

"New York is experiencing the same thing as monsters and Dungeons appear all over the city. Authorities are currently working with the military and trying to kill the monsters and seal the Dungeon, but it's still not working."

"A monster is reported to have killed 5 people in Tokyo! Police are trying to arrest him, but they seem to be unsuccessful so far. Some said that a sword-wielding man had killed the people, but no one had confirmed that. For now..."

"The news is filled with monsters and dungeons." Vale sighed as he turned off the TV. "It's only been 3 days since the apocalypse ended, and everything has changed."

Arresting monsters? Were they sane?

News and newspapers were filled with monsters and dungeons. Not to mention that people were talking about it endlessly on the street and even on social media.

A few hours had passed since the Earth Evolution incident. People called the voice they heard as World Announcement. And from what he found out from the internet, everyone killed in Scenario 1 was revived. However, they couldn't access their Passion System anymore.

"Only 16% of the population is able to access the Passion System." He murmured as he recalled the survival rate earlier. "They got their life, but only 16% of them can use it. That's..."

Unfair.

Right, that was what they said.

People were greedy and selfish, so it wasn't fair that not everyone could have the privilege to use the Passion System and fight monsters in this new world. It was unfair that they didn't get a chance to fight monsters and save their families or loved ones.

But that was their own fault for getting killed in the first place.

"Anyway, let's see the store for now. I have 282K points which I can spend now. So let's buy something interesting." Vale sat at his desk and opened the Passion System board. "Store."

The window that appeared in front of him showed a list of items that he could buy. There were many items, starting from weapons to recovery potion, which cost a luxury.

"A single recovery potion is 150,000 points? Wow, this is crazy." He shook his head in disbelief as he tapped on the sword icon next to it.

There were various kinds of swords available in the store. Starting from a regular sword to sword made from a rare fantasy metal such as Mithril or Adamantium, which cost 100,000 points.

'Not bad.' He thought as he checked the sword close to him. It was a normal one-edged sword that he used before becoming Vale Gilstar, but it was still a sword and its performance wasn't bad. 'I don't need a new sword yet. Rather than that...'
