Chapter 11 – Store

His eyes were glued to the 'Magic Item' section. He clicked it and found several items listed there. Magic Ring, Magic Book, Magic Robe, Magic Tool, Magic Weapon.

He looked at each of them closely and pondered over his choice. The price ranged from 100,000 to the highest 1,500,000 points, depending on its capability and rarity.

"Let's see..."

An item to store his sword would be useful. He didn't need to carry it with him anymore, and it would allow him to carry more items such as potions or food.

The Space Earring with a space 10 x 3 feet took his attention. It was one with the smallest space, but perfect for him. With that much space, he could store his sword, money, phone, and even recovery potion.

'The price is 100,000 points.' He bought it and a silver ring appeared in front of him. He wore it on his left ear and felt a strange feeling. He felt like it was connected to somewhere else. 'Let's test it.'

Standing up, he grabbed his sword and put it inside the space earring. The sword was sucked into it like magic as if it was a black hole. He felt the sword's presence inside it and he was right. He could store it in the space earring and retrieve it anytime he wanted.

"Hmm, it's definitely useful. And the rest of my points will be spent on Recovery Potion and other swords."

Only 32K points were left after he bought the Recovery Potion. It was a pink liquid inside a bottle that could restore his condition to his prime. A cheat item worthy of its price.

Then, he bought two iron swords for 1,000 points and a Rare one-edged sword for 10,000 points. Based on the description, it was more durable than any sword due to its rare ore and design.

"That's good." He smiled lightly as he looked at his purchase history, "With this, I am ready for anything that might come in the future."

Ding Dong!

He heard a doorbell ring and sighed.

Since earlier, he was able to sense the presence standing in front of his apartment and pacing around, as if waiting for him to open the door. \

However, after a few minutes, it seemed that whoever stood in front of his door was ready to ring his bell and meet him after someone arrived.

He was surprised because he knew who it was.

Opening the door, he saw the person standing in front of him with her hands behind her back, holding a wooden sword, and a slight smile on her face. It was Kiara Hunt, the Sword-obsessed girl from the apocalypse.

And behind her stood a man in a suit. He wore sunglasses and a communication earring in his ear.

No matter how one looked at it, he was an agent from somewhere.

"Morning. Do you want to hear bad news or good news first?" Kiara asked as she looked at him.

"Morning. And I'd like to know who this man is first." He answered with a natural tone as he looked at the suited man.

"My name is Aleksy Halych." The man in suit introduced himself as he pulled out a card from his pocket and showed it to Vale. "I worked for the government as an intelligence officer and was given the job of finding survivors of the apocalypse and investigating monsters and dungeons."

Vale nodded his head lightly. He asked them to come inside his apartment before turning to Kiara. "So, what is the bad news?"

"It seems that governments all around the world gathered the survivors and made laws for the new world." She answered, "Some countries are trying to lock down anyone with extraordinary ability, while some are trying to create an army or trying to explore the dungeons in their country."

Not a surprise. It was indeed bad news.

Considering that he was 'visited' privately by a government agent whose job was investigating monsters and dungeons, he could guess his country also did the same.

'He's here to recruit me.'

"And the good news?"

"No one can mess with us. And we will get good pay. Really good pay." Kiara answered with a grin on her face. "Both of us will be paid handsomely and get access to equipment and training."

"In exchange for?"

"You're a smart guy." Aleksy chuckled lightly as he patted Kiara's shoulder lightly. "In exchange for fighting monsters and dungeons. We also have the latest news about monsters and dungeons all over the world, so you won't be walking blind."

It was good news indeed. Fighting monsters and getting paid for it sounded good to him. At least he would have a steady income and wouldn't be forced to find a job.

Nevertheless, that wasn't ideal.

"Mr. Halych? Let me ask you a question."

"Yes?"

"Do you think this will work?"

It wasn't a question but a statement. Vale asked him if this world would work if humans fought monsters and dungeons with their power and technology alone.

"You sound like a conspiracy theorist, Mr. Gilstar." He laughed at Vale's question, "But if you must know, this will have to work. We don't have a choice. Our nation needs us."

"No, you misunderstand me." Vale shook his head lightly at his answer. "I mean, in the long run. Do you think people will join due to your offer? In my opinion, it's better to create a group among ourselves rather than to work with the government."

To level up, people had to kill monsters. And smart people or those who had tried must've realized that they could also gain points from killing monsters. All Survivors knew it. Points was more important than money.

Those who read novels with a similar setting before would think to use the monster carcass for something useful. There surely existed people whose passion was blacksmithing or engineering. They probably had a skill related to it and could create better weapons and armors from the carcass.

Without a doubt, monsters would become a new commodity that could be traded using 'money', benefitting not only Survivors but also everyone.

"You surely know what I mean, right?" Vale asked once again as he looked at Kiara, who was now examining his swords in the corner of the room. "Kiara."
