The next morning, a royal guard arrived at Alina and Lyra's home with an ornate letter. The guard bowed slightly, handing the letter to Alina with a solemn expression. 


"This is from Queen Seraphina," he said. 


Alina's eyes widened in surprise, and she almost dropped the letter. "The Queen?" she echoed, glancing at Lyra, who was equally taken aback. 


"What could the Queen want with you?" Lyra asked, but not with the expectation of a reply. 


"All right, thank you," Alina said to him, still trying to gain her composure. 


Alina, her hands trembling slightly, carefully broke the wax seal and opened the letter. Her eyes scanned the elegant script, her surprise deepening with each word. 


Alina read out loud: You are cordially invited to a party hosted by Queen Seraphina for the women of the kingdom. Please bring a plus one. 


Lyra's mouth fell open. "The Queen herself invited us?"
