Although Allyn is in charge of assigning him quests, Kal was aware of the reason for this particular assignment. Missions only appear when something is hindering Kal's survival or growth, leaving him to wonder whether the one who brought him here wants him to stay alive for some reason.

With that in mind, he checked his status again, only to discover that the SB category had been changed to hidden, which caught his attention.

'SB huh, no wonder I received a mission.'

This world's power is determined not only by the stat rank but also by SB.

SB is a term used for blessings bestowed by constellations, in which the 'S' stands for the first letter of their name.

Although there are three known constellations that watch over this world, only two are present, while the third, according to rumours, is hidden.

Each race has their own constellation watching over them, although that doesn't mean one couldn't be blessed by another race's constellation.

In the novel, only the protagonist was known to be blessed by both constellations, making him a threat to the foreign enemies.

─'I'm curious about the kind of blessing I will unlock.'

─'Huh? How do you- ... are you hiding something from me, Allyn?'

Typically speaking, in order to unlock a blessing, one should perform a variety of random tasks in the hope that one of them is related to their unknown blessing. It could range from holding a simple item to fighting a monster, or if all else fails, jumping off of a cliff is an open option as well.

─'Wait... will I be forced to perform random tasks as well? What's the point of having a cheat system if it can't help me cheat the system?!'

Mused over her little master's cute outburst, Allyn left his pitiful self-wonder off with his wild thoughts about murdering the constellations if the system hadn't given him tasks—which it had, but Kal was too busy to check them.

After confirming that his emotions were in check, she gave him the mission's tasks, and Kal immediately began to review them.

Looking at Kal, Allyn considered how he sometimes behaved like a child, which made her wonder if living as one for so long had affected Kal's control over his emotions.

Thankfully It should be temporary since he will eventually be able to handle these emotions with time.

Upon reviewing the mission tasks, Kal noticed that only two out of three were accessible. However, he was still somewhat grateful of them since both of the tasks were descriptive and detailed, so even without knowing what the third and final task was, he could still identify it's nature based on the description of the two.

Nothing in life is free; even with the system's assistance, he knows all too well how challenging a task it is to unlock a blessing. Nonetheless, he was grateful for it and somewhat ashamed of his earlier immaturity.

After receiving some mental head pats from Allyn and unlimited access to the cookie section in the system's shop, Kal decided that it was time to start with his mission's tasks.

The two available tasks were displayed on the screen as soon as he touched the task icon.

Biting into the last piece of cookie he had in hand, Kal questioned if whoever was giving him these missions intended for him to be some sort of villain based on the second task, even though by doing the first task alone would somehow turn him into a kind, saintly, loving child in other people's eyes.

In any case, it appears that his blessing is both light and dark in nature. Perhaps too dark, but that's alright since he never intended to get involved with the protagonist or the main plot in the first place.

Kallous would rather relax somewhere than engage in combat; he can't even picture himself wielding a sword and killing off monsters like some sort of hero. No, he won't do that; instead, if he were to ever be in that situation, he'll make sure to kill off the constellations and whoever sent him here before becoming a snack to those monsters that disturbed his peaceful life with his starlight.

He immediately devised a plan for his own survival in these lands after realizing that he was in the fictional world of his own novel.

Knowing the future, even though he has no intention of interfering with the protagonist's plans or have any relation to him, Kal couldn't turn a blind eye to a few specific events. Events that, if avoided, could end the chaos to which they led.

And it just so happens that two of these incidents took place in this town, as if someone had planned his visit here knowing full well that Kal wouldn't let such an event arise.

✿ 'Kallous, it's midnight.' Allyn's tiny little form floated around Kal as she informed him.

─'Oh, so it's time already? Reminds me of when I first came here.' Kal frowned, recalling his state at that time.

✿ 'Back then, you were so adorable; I still have records of your first cuss word—'

─'Hmm? What are you mumbling on about?'

✿ 'N-nothing, Kal!' Allyn hurriedly responded, sweat appearing on her tiny form, which was only visible to Kal.

After giving it at least two minutes of thought, and having noticed Allyn's nervous behaviour, Kal decided not to ask any further questions since he felt himself dozing off for a moment.

Of course, Allyn wasn't one to miss out on such an opportunity. She started recording all of Kal's unconscious movements as he tried to stay focused, knowing full well that it won't be long till he falls asleep.

─'It's getting late, this body needs sleep to function properly.' Kal yawned, he held the blanket closer to himself, seeking the little warmth it provided in this cold winter.

─"Good night, Allyn." he mumbled.

✿ '...Kal.' Allyn called out to her little master, knowing that he was still in a somewhat awake state.

In response, Kal raised his eyebrow and hummed questioningly.

'What now?-'

Kal was, to put it mildly, astonished. Of course he knew that today was his birthday, which, strangely enough, somehow matched the date of his past life's, but his reaction wasn't caused by that.

'When was the last time I've heard someone speak those words sincerely to me?

Five? Six years? Oh... It was right before 'that' incidence.'

'I should stop thinking about it, this life is different.

Allyn, who was amidst a panic attack, felt something was wrong with her master. He was clearly awake, although his eyes were closed, but she could sense it.

As silence filled the room, and with every second passed without a single movement from him, Allyn finally decided to forcefully shook him from the state he was in, whatever it was.

However, before she could do anything, she heard his voice through their connection.

✿ '... WHAT THE FUCK KALLOUS, YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK (ノ°益°)ノ... huh- what did you just say?'

Embarrassed, Kal quickly hid his head underneath the pillows but that was of no use since Allyn already noticed his bright red ears.

Grinning from ear to ear, she spoke.

Although her voice was sweet, Kal already knew he was screwed the moment he heard his innocent starlight cuss.

Eventually, His eyes felt heavy, his breath evened out as he slowly surrendered himself to sleep.
