78: High tensions

"She knows..."

Jodie sat frozen, suspended in a state of stunned disbelief. Her eyes were widened in horror as her mind reeled from the ominous revelation of Valiah Hundra. Her face, still etched with pain and fatigue, now reflected a deep-seated shock. Her skin paled, and her lips parted in a silent question.

"How did she...?"

The words died in her mouth as her gaze drifted aimlessly, as if searching for an answer and an escape from the unsettling truth. Her pupils constricted, and her eyebrows arched upward, giving her an expression of utter bewilderment. She was caught. Flushed out like a rat that now stood between the devil and the deep blue sea. It goes without saying that her time at the Phoenix Pack had come to an untimely end. She couldn't prolong it much longer.
