Heroic Units

Born gathered all four squads back together.

The next day.

Born woke up, and Lane lazily peeked her head out, wrapping her arms around Born's neck.

"Stayed up so late last night and still not sleeping well?" she asked.

Born smiled and kissed Lane's forehead. "There's still work to do," he said, getting up and dressing. When he turned around, Lane was also getting dressed, and when she saw him looking, she flashed a sweet smile.

Born paused for a moment.

Besides surviving, he wanted to hold on to moments like this.

"Let's go, Pearl and the others should be back."

Born led Lane out of the room and outside the exhibition hall.

Pearl's team had already returned and was preparing to rest. When they saw Born, Pearl and the others rushed over, each giving him a big hug.

The nearby men were stunned, looking on with envy.

One man cautiously approached a member of the maid corps.

"Look how happy the boss is. We..."

She glanced at the man and said, "The boss is so handsome and capable. My heart belongs to him, but I know I'm not good enough for him. You shouldn't get your hopes up."

She then looked at Born, standing still in a daze.

The men felt as if they had taken a massive blow.

The boss truly lived up to his reputation. The women in the base all wanted to be with him, making the men feel inadequate by comparison.

They felt a bitter pang in their hearts.

Born, unaware of all this, led everyone inside. Soon, they were all gathered in the meeting room.

Born stood at the front.

"Sirena, you've been managing the base's affairs. Starting tomorrow, the base will be fully sealed off. No one is to go outside or attract zombie attacks. Even when killing zombies, keep the noise to a minimum."

"The workshop will stop working, and the generator will be set to the lowest power."

Sirena took notes on Born's orders in her notebook. She looked up thoughtfully at Born and asked, "Master, is reducing the base's noise because the armed forces are leaving?"

Born nodded slightly. "That's the second thing. I need to take 20 elite members of the legion with me, but I will also reinforce the base with additional legion members."

Born glanced at Mia and the others.

Mia and her group immediately understood and stood up to receive their orders.

"Go, select the elite members from your teams. It's not just about strength but also about their ability to adapt."

"Additionally, make sure to rest well."

Mia and the others nodded and left.

After giving the orders, Born sat alone in the meeting room.

"System, upgrade the recruitment level."

[Current points: 39,985. Upgrading to the next level requires 2,500 points. Proceed with the upgrade?]

"Confirm."

[Congratulations, host. Current recruitment level: 6. Upgrading to the next level requires 3,000 points. Recruitment points: 60. You may designate 3 basic attributes to enhance. Current recruitment count: 50/70.]

"Continue!"

[Congratulations, host. Current recruitment level: 7. Upgrading to the next level requires 3,500 points. Recruitment points: 70. Random enhancement of 4 basic attributes. Current recruitment count: 50/90.]

[Congratulations, host. Current recruitment level: 8. Upgrading to the next level requires 4,000 points. Recruitment points: 80. You may designate 4 basic attributes to enhance. Current recruitment count: 50/110.]

[Congratulations, host. Promoted to Centurion. Skill upgrade bound, receiving 30% attribute feedback. Binding count increased to 3.]

[Congratulations, host. Detection skill upgraded. Obtained Heroic Unit Teri, available for synthesis and recruitment.]

Born stared at the series of system notifications, momentarily stunned.

A Heroic Unit?

Previously, fragments could be drawn in the shop, but this time he was directly rewarded with a Heroic Unit?

This reward is quite impressive.

He immediately checked Teri's attribute panel.

[Teri: Swordsman, Martial Artist

Defense: 4.7

Stamina: 45.8

Mental: 6.6

Ability: Blade Aura

Skills: Sword Draw Slash, Teri Slash]

Born exclaimed, "Wow!"

No wonder it's a Heroic Unit, it's like having a trump card.

Even with attribute feedback, boosting Mia and the others indirectly boosts himself. However, their attributes still don't compare.

This Teri is all about extreme offense, with incredibly high stamina and two clearly offensive skills, plus an ability.

This Heroic Unit is powerful.

Born eagerly synthesized and recruited Teri.

A flash of white light appeared, and Teri, dressed in a sailor uniform, emerged from it.

Teri looked around and knelt on one knee, saying in a deep voice, "Master, Teri reporting for duty!"

Born quickly helped Teri up, looking her over.

Hmm, flat.

What a pity.

"If only they were a bit bigger," he thought.

In the next moment, a flash of white light zipped past Born's ear, cutting off a lock of his hair.

"Master, isn't it good that Teri saves you fabric?" Teri said with a smile, her long sword slowly sheathing.

Born gave an awkward smile. He was only joking.

It seems Teri has quite a temper, but calling him Master suggests her loyalty is solid.

He looked back to see that a corner of the table had been sliced off.

That flash of white light was likely Teri's ability.

Currently, there are at least 40 to 50 people around him who have awakened abilities, each different.

Some are strong, some are weak.

One person's ability even accelerates the production of fertilizers.

Hmm, guarding the septic tank is an important position. Not everyone can do it.

Born stroked his chin. Having Teri is a great trump card, making this mission more secure.

He immediately took Teri along, partly to recruit more members and partly to test Teri's abilities.

It was late at night when Born returned to the exhibition hall, now accompanied by a new squad of 50 members.

All dressed in maid combat uniforms, they were a striking sight.

As they entered the base, wolf howls and whistles echoed around them.

However, Born quickly noticed that the number of people around had decreased.

Sirena stepped forward and said in a serious tone, "Master, Emerson took a team of about 40 people and left with the tank."

Just as Sirena finished speaking, explosions erupted in the distance.

Born muttered to himself, "Fool."

"Going out at night can provide cover, but zombies are more active. I've told that big idiot before that zombies are evolving, but he just wouldn't listen."

Born sighed in exasperation.

He immediately called Mia and the others over.

"Get the team ready. We're preparing to move out!"
