Guns Blazing

Standing in front of the abandoned building where the my target was located, my first plan of action was to get my costume on. Slowly sneaking in through one of the broken windows again, i touched ground with the concrete floor.

Now, as all good vigilantes, I put on my outfit before the main event. However, realising I would probably get the cowboy duster bloody, I decided against wearing it. So I just looked like a normal supervillain with my black shirt, black cargo pants and skull mask. Putting the gloves and holsters on I got ready for the night.

Like that, I was ready to purge the corruption and filth of New York. This time doing it in style... Hopefully.

Having finished changing into my vigilante getup, I went for the door, ready to go to the upper floors. Putting my hand on the door handle I slowly turned it, and failed at opening the door.

Seeing that the door was locked, I changed my plan. From 'a im going to be sneaky' ambush to 'waltz in there guns blazing' frontal assault.

Taking a step back from the door, i raised my leg, before proceeding to kick the thing as hard as I could.

Bam! Crash!

The door now down, I headed outside the room with both guns ready to shoot any poor soul that i come across. I still heard faint noises from the upper floors, and slowly, I made my way up the stairs, gun preaiming at whatever corner someone could jump out from. Like that, I went to the second of five floors. While there were faint traces of humans here, it wasn't where they were hiding.

Going up a floor further, the odd metallic scent assaulted my nose. One, as I used to be a cop, was familiar with.

Blood.

Now, this meant there was a very good chance of getting into trouble, as this could mean there was a superhuman on the floors above. Slowly creeping up like that, with the noises still coming from the upper floor, ascending stair by stair, I arrived at the fourth floor.

Having gotten up until here, I wasn't too keen on returning. However, I wasn't keen on finding out which person I would encounter if it's not just a fight between the gang members.

Having arrived at the top of the staircase I walked into the corridor of that floor. Slowly, step by step, I kept walking towards the door where the noise was coming from.

As I kept getting closer I saw three bodies lying on the floor, and having confirmed they died by checking their pulse, together with the bloody holes in their bodies.

The door that I kept hearing noise from was the third one from the stairs. Having passed 2 already, I felt slightly unease at leaving the doors unchecked. Noticing that they opened towards the corridor, I did the simplest thing i could think of.

Grab the very conveniently placed chairs from the three that were probably on watch duty, and blockade the doors.

Satisfied with that, I turned my attention back to the door where noise kept coming from. Slowly leaning my head against the wall I tried to hear what was being said, if anything was being said at all. Slowly, I started making out faint voices.

"Idiots... Safe..."

Straining myself to hear even the tiniest bit more, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching the door. Getting ready by stepping away slightly from the door, I aimed my model 29 at the door, ready to blast anyone to pieces.

Slowly, the footsteps reached the other side of the door. As the door handle was being messed with I was as ready as I could be.

Finally, the door opened, and a man with a AK47 was walking out of the doorframe. The balaclava, as well as the smell of booze and drugs, meant this was a bona fide gangster.

Not hesitating anymore, due to risks of it being a civilian or something, I pulled the trigger.

As the man fell with a giant hole in his head, courtesy of the model 29s larger caliber, I looked inside the apartment wjile activating my lovely .

5 corpses on the ground and 4 people who turned their heads simultaneously towards the door.

No sooner did they turn their heads though as bullets started raining down on them. The first one had a hole in his chest made, and with that he started collapsing to the ground.

Noticing that my control and my speed slightly improved due to I aimed at the second guy inside, who didn't even manage to pull out his gun yet. The third shot was slightly off target and only hit him in the arm.

Sadly, I didn't have time to finish him off as these guys reacted a bit faster than the other fifteen men large gang. Probably due to them not being as inebriated or intoxicated.

Breaking into a sprint, I turned off as I left the area in front of the door. Reloading my three shells I used up, i waited for them to get out of the room from the stairs, an odd ten meters between us.

Like preciously, something peaked from the door frame.

BANG!

With that, the decoy they used, a balaclava on a stick, had a hole in it.

"Mother fucker! He's still outside there waiting for us!" came the panicked cry from one of them.

Deciding not to waste anymore time, I shot at the door of the apartment next to theirs. Having shot out the hinge, I kicked down the door completely.

Heading in, I got to the living room after 3 meters, and the wall to the other apartment being here. Taking aim and guessing where they would be by the layout of this room, I fired off 3 shots from my 29.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Seeing the holes in the wall, and the screaming I heard from the other side, I probably hit something. Going back to the front entrance, bullets started raining down on the area as I left it.

Yet as they kept shooting at the wall, like a possessed madman, I activated one more time.

With my super redhawk and my 29 in my hands, I turned around the corner. Seeing as one of them had caught up with my plan, as he started turning towards me with his gun, a shotgun, In hand. Yet it was far too late already.

With the first shot from my redhawk, he fell with a hole in his head, or what was left of it, dead for good.

My model 29 having aimed in the rough direction of another idiot, it only needed minimal correction for the shot to perfectly pierce his chest.

The last man was aiming at me and pulling the trigger in slow motion. Turning my head while sidestepping as hard as I could to the side, in the slowed world, I saw a bullet trail suddenly materialise where my head was just now.

With two shots from both of my cannons, the man had both his head and chest with a newfound hole. Like that, they dropped all dead in the slowed world.

Turning off Focus, and seeing that I still had four more seconds for today, I got even more excited.

The reason being the footsteps that were approaching this apartment. With a guy trying to jump out of cover to get me by surprise, a shot without the slowdown of took his life. The other footsteps in the vicinity of the door suddenly stopped, and with that, I shot four shots into the walls where I heard the footsteps stop.

"Ahh! Shit shit shit!"

"Damn it!"

"What the hell is this bastard?!"

To the sounds of complaining, I reloaded my bullets swiftly. Having used 13 bullets so far, I was pretty excited for more action, still having plenty left in the reserve. Guns loaded again, I started looking at the 3 meters of hallway between me and the door, as I was contemplating approaching the door and trying to use a corpse as a decoy.

Then, I saw something fly in from the door.

Without a moments hesitation I ran behind the wall throwing myself down on the ground, protecting my head, my years of police training probably saving my own hide.

BOOOOOM!

As the grenade shrapnel peppered the hallway I had been in once, the walls collapsed there and a hole in the ground was formed. With my heart beating loudly, I turned around and ran towards the wall where I shot the original dumbassses from.

The thing wooden wall, peppered with shrapnel, gave way to my furious charge, and like that I greeted the 3 morons in the room who didn't even react yet.

BANG! BANG!

Not even bothering to aim at the two of them, i shot my shot, and with it, two more departed men with holes in their chests, and using the recoil from not having active, I aimed at the last man with my super redhawk.

BANG!

Another one going down to hell.

Three seconds of left!

Looking outside the door, the noises I kept hearing were growing more distant.

"Are they... Running? HELL NO YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY YOU BASTARDS!!!"

Turning around, I sprinted towards the original apartment, and then after turning a sharp corner I started running towards the hole in the floor. Jumping down and rolling, the fall should have hurt like hell, yet I felt nothing due to the adrenaline.

Running like a bull with red eyes towards the door, I shot at the lock, practically flying out of the apartment with my trusty being turned on.

Three shocked grunts greeted me, and three bullets to the heads were their greetings.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Or at least, It should've been three dead grunts. Yet the middle one, who seemed to be the leader, had gotten lucky.

With only a little piece of flesh still letting his hand hang limply from his torso, he was convulsing on the ground. Feeling pity for the poor bastard, I took one more shot.

BANG!

As he, or his body in this case, ceased all movements, I listened for any other noises coming from around here. The silence greeted me.

Reloading my bullets, and with only two more seconds of remaining, I headed back up the stairs.

Then, i picked up the thing I wanted to try.

The pump action shotgun. First order of buisness, i checked if it was loaded and still had a few shots in it.

Emptying it, it still had five slugs in it, then I started reloading it.

With expectation in my eyes, i shot at the wall.

BANG!

Feeling the recoil of the Remington 870, i remembered the feeling of it, and then I tried to aim down sights with it.

BANG!

Sadly, the recoil wasn't any different compared to the usual recoil when I hip fired, meaning my skill didn't work on it.

Still though, a shotgun felt like something one needed to have. And it would take a while before I could get my hands on the shotguns in the close quarters tree. Plus, I can consider this as a trophy for now.

As such, this baby is staying with me.

Satisfied with my haul, I headed out of the apartment and collected all the casings that were left behind by me. Packing all of the casings, I then decided to go back to the original apartment where I heard the words "safe". The adrenaline flowing through my blood slowly subsiding as I walked up the stairs, I arrived on the second fourth again.

After all, If these crooks had anything like a safe to their name, it probably held something very valuable in it.

Not even a minute later, having messed up the whole apartment, I pulled a small white safe from under the carpet out.

It wasn't a large nor heavy safe, being only slightly larger than your average shoebox, and seeing the mechanical lock, I contemplated what to do. Whether to waste time cracking it here or head home with it in hand?

...I could probably just stuff it inside one of the bags and carry it home like the suitcase without arousing too much suspicion.

Deciding I'd try my luck at home, I picked up the safe.

Yet i deeply regreted it within less than a second.

With the metal safe door opening and slamming into my fingers, a ARGH resounded in the apartment.

Yet, looking at the contents inside of the open safe, and then at my hurting fingers, I decided to forgive the safe.

Jackpot! I'm now rich!
