(General POV)
Yumi stays awake that night watching the huntsman. She knew he was knocked out and that there was no way for him to try something. But it's not like she could or wanted to sleep anyway. She watched Gon a bit too tending to the guy's wounds and checking if he got any worse if that made it any better. After a while, Gon drifts off so it is only Yumi, the dark, and her thoughts.
She hated every second of this though.
'Ugh! This is why I always kept my lights on in my penthouse!' She thinks bedraggled as she soon gets up opting out of sleep to go train. And that's how she trained with her scythe till morning.
(Gons POV)
I wake up seeing the bright morning sun and feel refreshed, but why do I feel like I forgot something?
"Oh! The patient !" I scream out loud my memories from last night returning. I quickly get up and move to where the guy is and breathe a sigh of relief.
"Okay, he's good. It looks like his fever went down. He's still a bit pale but I guess that's normal considering all the blood he lost" At that he remembers the scene he witnessed last night and smiles.
"I have to ask Yumi how she did that thought?! She cut through the man's arm like butter!" Gon then chuckles lightly before going to wash his face as well as get a fresh cold towel for the man.
After going through all of these steps he finally realizes that his bunney-capped companion isn't with him and shouts her name.
"Yumi!"
No response. "Now that's strange. Maybe she left. Or did she just not hear me? YUMI!!!!!" He shouts trying again to no avail.
'Hmm? Her scent smells nearby. I can still smell the blood from last night on her.' with that thought he cups his ears focusing on his sense of hearing.
Wosh Wosh Wosh
Gon hears a faint swinging of a scythe nearby and decides to follow the sound and sure enough maybe 100 meters away he finds Yumi.
"Good morning Yumi," He says walking into the small clearing where she was practicing. Strange enough it seemed like the girl didn't hear him as she just kept on swinging. This confused Gon.
"Earth to Yumi?" he says getting closer to the girl and waving a hand in front of her face still no response. "Maybe I should just leave her alone," He says while leaving but while walking away he accidentally stubs his foot on a rock.
This hurt a bit and out of reflex, he shouted. This alerted Yumi as it looked like she almost woke up from some kind of sleep. She looks around and sees Gon clutching his foot and rushes towards him in a heartbeat dropping her scythe.
"Gon where did you come from? Are you okay?" She asks circling me franticly.
"Oh, I'm fine Yumi. It's just a rock. But shouldn't I be asking you that question?" I say scratching the back of my neck nonchalantly. This confuses the girl but she masks it quite well.
"Oh, I'm fine! Sorry, I didn't hear you at first I was just kinda focused that's all" Yumi says brushing it off.
"Okay then. I was just coming by to say goodbye Ning and see how you were doing. Hope that is okay."
"Yeah, that's fine!" Yumi says happily.
"Okay then. Are you just going to keep on training?"
Yumi pauses her nod. "No. I think I've trained enough."
I smile as i turn to walk away. "Okay, then you can watch me if you want!"
"Sure!" Yumi says smiling back at me as she follows.
------------(Time Skip Like 30 minutes/Yumi POV)------------
"Hey, Gon" Yumi asks after watching the boy for a bit after he finishes describing his plan to steal Hisoka badge.
'Let's help him a bit. He would've got the answer anyway but now I'm giving him a bit more time to practice with it.'
"Why don't you just aim for the bird when his guard is down?"
This idea clearly intrigued Gon as he turned around and plopped down beside me his legs crisscrossed.
"How would you do that?" Gon asks clueless. This makes Yumi sigh.
"I don't know. In my past life as a serial killer, I'd kill them in places where they felt the most secure but had the least security. Like on a hike. Or at a brothel. Cause there they'd have the least security guarding them. I'd also have to make it look the most like an accident but that doesn't pertain to birds does it?"
Gon shakes his head lightly but it's obvious he wasn't completely listening as he thinks on the words Yumi said. Yumi sees this and smiles getting up.
'It looks like he almost has his answer. He doesn't need me anymore
As I was walking away Gon was so deep in thought that he didn't even notice. I found that funny so I went over to where the huntsman was and kicked him awake.
"Tell Gon I'm going to go find my target. And that I'll see him at the end of the manhunt."
Greatta who woke up with a start looked at me eyes full of horror as he nodded quickly. I smile at him menacingly reminding him to not even try to do anything funny before I leave.
-------(Time Skip Like a few hours maybe Leorio POV)------
"I haven't seen everyone for two days!" I say slumping on the ground with my suitcase.
Russell Russle Russle
"Whose there!" I quickly grab my knife and defend myself as I watch the bushes intently.
Soon out of the bushes comes someone who I haven't seen in a while so I don't remember their name at first.
"Tonpa?"
When I looked him up and down he seemed disheveled and weary. But then I looked into his eyes all I saw was fear. He started shaking franticly.
"I'm sorry. I didn't try to do anything. I swear!" He then pulls out his badge as if some sort of peace offering.
"Here, here take it."
I look at the badge suspiciously not trusting the man for a second.
"And if I don't "
"JUST TAKE IT!" Tonpa then screams which catches me off guard. That's until I hear another russel in the leaves and Tonpa looks like he's gonna poop his pants. I ready my knife.
"Hey, Leorio!" Yumi shouts happily appearing through the bushes.
"Oh hey Yumi" I sigh lowering my knife.
'I thought it was a major threat by the way Tonpa was shaking but it was just Yumi.'
Yumi then turns to Tonpa and I could sense a slight shift in attitude but nothing much. So when he ran away throwing his badge after she whispered something it confused me greatly.
"What did you say to him?" I questioned as Yumi caught the badge and made her way over to me.
"Oh, nothing much. Oh by the way. KURAPIKA YOU CAN COME OUT NOW! I HAVE TONPA'S BADGE FOR YOU!"
At that shout soon another figure comes through the bushes and it of course Kurapika. Yumi throws Tonpas badge at him which he catches.
"Thanks," he says curtly.
"It's nothing," Yumi says with a smile.
"So who are your targets?" I ask a little later as we all sit under a tree.
"Mine was Tonpas as you could guess" Kurapika replies.
"Oh so then you should be all set now right?" Yumi questions.
"Assuming he doesn't take it back then yes"
That makes me laugh loudly.
"Why would he even try to take it back? Didn't you see how he ran from Yumi? He's much too scared of any of us to take it back from you!" This comment made Kurapika think for a second before nodding.
"You're right I suppose. Well, what about you Yumi whose your target."
"Oh it's Leorio"
Everybody freezes. A small bead of sweat dripped down my forehead. My thoughts move from one place to another remembering all the feats of strength Yumi had accomplished. But then Yumi bursts out in laughter.
"Come on guys don't tell me you both fell for that! I already told you guys on the boat that none of you were my target! You think I'd lie so cheaply!"
For some reason, both me and Kurapika let out a sigh of relief.
"You really shouldn't joke like that Yumi" Kurapika says chuckling a bit.
I who was still stunned suddenly got embarrassed by the trick played on me.
"THAT WASN'T NICE AT ALL YUMI!" I shout flustered.
This only makes Yumi laugh harder. "I'm sorry I'm sorry okay. I got Hanzo the bald ninja dude."
"Oh him?" Kurapika says recognizing the name.
"Yup but don't worry he won't be a problem to take care of and it's only the second day so I've got a bunch of time."
I nod. "If you say so Yumi"
She then turns to me with a curious gaze.
"So what's your number Leorio"
"Oh, it's 246. But I have no idea who that i-"
A badge comes flying at my face that I barely catch.
"Here you go," Yumi says happily. I'm glad I could help.
As I flip over the badge I see that's my number and O am shocked but also grateful.
"Thanks a bunch, Yumi!" I stop. I see a bit of dried blood on the badge and a shiver runs down my spine. I look up at Yumi and only then notice the slight stench of blood from her clothes.
Her smile seems a bit more creepy than I remember.
"Oh don't worry Leorio. It's not mine. Also, it was only in self-defence as she got me for her target. So don't worry yourself."
I Gulp and nod but seeing Kurapikas look. It seems like he isn't buying a second of it.
"It really was in self-defence?"
"Yes Kurapika it really was in self defense"
I give him a look to not push any further so he pulls back with a bit of a reluctance.
"Okay, then we believe you." This puts a smile on Yumi's face.
"I'm glad," she says calmly as the conversation stops for a bit.
'Man this atmosphere is tense.'
"Soooooo, Kurapika, Yumi, you guys Wana team up?"
"Sure, you should be able to keep up with me," Kurapika says nonchalantly. A tick mark forms on my forehead.
'The nerve of this guy.'
"I'm sorry guys I really wish I could," Yumi says getting up and dusting herself off "but I have to take out a ninja. After that, I'll find you guys and we can team up!"
Me and Kurapika nod. "Okay then Yumi I guess this is bye for now"
"Don't worry Leorio I won't take long." She says stretching a bit before she dashes off in the opposite direction.
"Do you think she knows where she's going?" I ask Kurapika.
"I have no idea"
-------------------------(Time Skip Yumi POV)----------------------
I'm now running through the forest. From what I remember from the anime Hanzo should be stalking Killua right now and I haven't seen the boy yet in this exam so why don't I just meet up with Killua?
"I know you've been following me since the exam started." Yumi hears nearby.
'Looks like I found him'
"Come on out let's play!"
"Oh hey, Killua!" I say screeching to a Halt.
Killua looks a bit surprised at my presence but soon smiles hands in his pockets.
"Hey Yumi what's up?"
"Oh, nothing much. I'm just on my way to the ninja Hanzo and I heard you and decided to stop by"
"Oh that's all?" Killua asks sitting at a stump of a tree so I decide to sit beside him.
"Yeah. Is there another reason I should be aware of?" I say playfully this makes Killua a bit embarrassed as he looks away.
"No not really" Then there is a slince between the two of them. I'm not sure if I should get up or not before Killua speaks.
"So, do you know how you're going to handle Hanzo?"
This makes Yumi think.
"Honestly no. I feel like I'm underestimating him."
"Really. Well, that's never good." I shrug.
"I guess but it's not like there's anything I can do about it. I have to kill him and take his badge. If I'm not up for well I can't do anything about it." This confession confuses Killua.
"Wait. Why would you even fight him if you know you might not win?!"
'Oh yes, I forgot this was his mentality at the moment. I'm not sure if this is okay cause Gon was the one who fixed this but. If it could help.' I sigh before looking at him straight in the eye.
"Do you really believe that?" Killua looks at me confused as he nods slowly.
"Yes. It's straight-up suicide." I nod.
"I guess that's true in my situation but what about if my only choice was to fight?" Killua shakes his head.
"That's impossible. You can always run away." I sigh again but not fully willing to give up yet.
"Okay, what if there is an assassin after you? He's much more experienced. Faster, stronger, and he's got you stuck in a corner. If you run you won't be facing him anymore giving him a million more ways to kill you. So you can only fight. But if you fight you lose. No two ways about it. Would you still try to run?"
Killua nods a bit exasperated, confused, and annoyed.
"Yes! Of course! There'd be no point in fighting him! Might as well use your last moments trying to preserve your life!" He's about to get up but then his eyes lock on with Yumis freezing him in his place.
He can't explain what he sees through her eyes. It felt like some sort of pity but not only pity. Maybe sadness. Loss? He didn't know. And it pissed him off.
"Is that all?"
Yumi looks away and gets up but stays in one place looking at the sky.
"You know I'm going to fight Hanzo. But I'm not going to risk my life because that wouldn't aid in my goal. But I'll tell you right now that if killing Hanzo was the only way to make any of my freinds including your lives easier. I would in a heartbeat. Faster than a heartbeat. And I honestly feel that deep down it's the same for you too. I don't know maybe I was wrong."
There is another pause after that where Killua mostly tries to take in and process the information just given to him. Yumi sighs again before walking away.
"Anyway you shouldn't toy with the guy following you for too long. There's no point of making yourself uncomfortable because of an insect like him" and with that, Yumi jumps up into a tree and starts to leap away.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SeekerofLight: Do you think Yumis interaction with Killua was genuine enough? Honestly in not sure if I made him seem to much of a coward? Well what's done is done but why don't you give your opinion in the comments! I promise I don't bite!
