The Cursed Luna

Katherine knelt down in the mud, hands dug deep into the soil, lips caught between her teeth. Her thoughts were far gone, her head filled with different worries.

It had been two days since Kieran left for the war against Aerwyn, and Katherine had made sure to bury herself in work, supporting everything Astrid had assigned to her. She needed to keep good records for when Kieran returned. He had to know how hard she had worked. She had been taking on any available work, trying to distract herself from the constant plaguing thoughts.

Katherine swallowed hard, thinking back to the way she had woken up covered in sweat, eyes wide open. The same woman had appeared in her dreams again, her words echoing in Katherine's mind repeatedly. "It's almost time," she continued to say like a chant, her eyes piercing into Katherine's, her voice smooth and velvety. For the past two nights, Katherine had woken up with the same haunting dream.
