CHAPTER THIRTEEN: THE THIRTEEN HOUR

I'm back to square one again and I don't like the odds at all. Now I have to prevent my death and at the same time, I also have to prevent the death of my loved ones as well, especially my Lisa who I'm sure Bakari is going to target next. The good news is that I know who Bakari is, the bad news is that I don't know how to prove it. First, I needed to help Clarise and her husband and to do that I needed to meet both of them. Considering I'm back to where I meet Clarise, at the hospital getting her board won't be as difficult. It's Mr Jones that I have to consider.

From what I know Mr Jones doesn't have the time to start doing crime, so he is either blackmailed or has been held hostage and he has no way of escaping.

I met Clarise and I let the interaction of what we had before continue as before, but this time I had to push a little bit so that I could get both her and her sister to reconcile.

I then left her office and left my card and went straight to the office, to think of my next plan. I had to be very careful not to get caught, so I had to find the assailants who attacked me and Jackson. I had to start with the one Scarface McGee.

I had to find his actual name because the nickname was what got me anywhere. I asked Layla for help and I had to solve the trafficking case so that she could see her sister, but how can I make sure she is safe and doesn't do anything rush?

Meanwhile, at Lisa's law firm, she decides to do her investigations and try to find the link between Goodwill law firm and Bakari. She tries to snoop around Daudi's office with the help of his law friend Samantha Mpenda, A very cunning lawyer who is always up and about looking for any rumour, gossip and dealings that lawyers do with their clients behind closed doors. People don't like the way she likes to snoop around and it has become an issue that has made her enemies.

So, when she heard that Lisa was snooping around, she was salivating at the opportunity to jump in and also snoop around, especially considering she doesn't like Daudi one bit. At the office lounge, Sam saw Lisa eating alone and this was because of how she slowly became a sort of pariah to the rest of the office after the incident where she took down a prominent client who happened to be involved in a corruption scandal in the pharmaceutical industry. The client who was their top earner was arrested but only stayed in prison for months.

"Hey girlfriend, how you doing girl?" Sam greeted eagerly

"Hello Sam, it's nice to see you too?" Lisa greeted gloomily.

"What the hell was that? What's wrong girl, is this about the bishop case? He deserved it, girl, you did the right thing okay."

"No, it's not that, Daudi I…I just don't understand why he would be mixed up... anyway, forget it. So, what's new with you,"

"What's going on girl, what did Melon Head do this time,"

"Melonhead? Oh, you mean Daudi, why do you call him Melon head," Lisa said with a smirk.

"Like have you not seen him stand behind the light, the guy's head really looks like a melon," Sam stated with enthusiasm.

"Thank you for cheering up, Sam," Lisa stated smiling.

"But I'm not joking, he looks like a melon," Sam insisted eagerly.

Lisa then started to describe what was going on with Daudi Chacha and his link to Frank's case and his connections to Bakari and the unknown. Sam is shocked but expects that Daudi is on to something. Sam then tells Lisa that she can help in any way she can to take down Daudi and his associates linked to Bakari and the unknowns. Sam then plans to take down Daudi and whoever he is working with within the office with Bakari and the unknowns because he is not alone.

While Lisa and Sam are plotting, Daudi meets with one of the unknowns who was planning to kill Clarise. He then gives the unknown agent, Clarise's information, which includes Clarise's home address and also her working schedule at the hospital. He then tells him that he has to lay low and leave the office because he suspects that Lisa is on to him. The agent then tells him that there is no activity with the bugs they installed at the office and that his panic and his scepticism are just unfounded, but Daudi disagrees and tells them to be wary of her.

The assailant then leaves and creates a plan of action because, in a few weeks, he releases a plan of action. This time they're moving faster with their plans of killing Clarise and I started to notice that the future is changing first. For me to stop my killing and that of the rest, I had to question Kevin and his associates who might know Scar McGee. So, I told Joe to talk to Alice so that I could meet with Kevin so that I could question him, but it was going to be difficult considering DBI are very strict when it comes to their prisoners.

I had to tell Joe that I might know how they can stop the trafficking that will happen soon and that they need to set surveillance on the land port and also start to monitor any suspicious activities. They might find out what happened to Ruth and the women that might be there. Ms Hodari was sceptical of me but Joe sueded her to take the chance and trust the information I gave. DBI then started to set up shop at the port, as I had my chance to meet Kevin and confirm who the men who were following me were.

It was a dimly lit interrogation room and a camera was facing him. On the other side of the room, Ms Hodari was watching me and Kevin. I then started to give him some reassurance like reducing jail sentences and other immunities he can take advantage of if he snitches and tells me everything he knows. At first, he was reluctant but after I also told him he would get 24-hour protection from DBI, he started to spill the beans.

I found out that Scar McGee and the rest of the men don't use their names but use code names to protect their identities and backgrounds. Kevin's codename was Kevin and his job was information extraction, and the others also had different code names. Scarface's code name was Scarman, and you know I have to say my nickname was better. What kind of name is "Scarman"? Did he think he sounded cool calling himself that? That name was just terrible, to say the least.

"They thought I was just a dumb guy that just followed orders and that I didn't have contingencies but I had a couple of contingencies on my belt," Kevin stated with pride.

"So, they're in this location and you're sure about this information," I stated calmly.

"I'm very sure, it's job to gather information," Kevin stated proudly.

He also gave me the suspected location of Scarman and his men. I then left immediately and went to the safehouse to inform the others. Ms Hodari then came in and ordered her officers to return Kevin to his cell.

"You're gonna give me the immunity, right? He promised me," Kevin stated remorsefully.

"What immunity? Who told you could get immunity?" Ms Hodari asked nonchalantly

"B..but he promised, it's all recorded in that camera," Kevin protested while pointing at the camera.

"Oh, that camera, it broke a long time ago, also that guy doesn't work for us. He can't promise you anything," Ms Hodari replied without a care.

Kevin shouted and protested loudly at the unfairness as he was drugged out of the room and taken to the cell, he was confined in.

Meanwhile, I arrive at the safe house and tell Joe and Jackson that we need to go to Scarman's location. We started to prepare for the bust as Layla located their location on the computer, as she monitored them through her drone.

"How's it looking Layla," I stated

"Either they're terrible at securing their environment or they are just lazy. I'm already in their security systems."

"Well thank Kevin for that. Sang like a canary the moment he realized he had an out. How many assailants we got?" I asked.

"I'm counting twenty, no thirty assailants, armed to the teeth," Layla answered.

We then packed the necessary weapons and started a plan of action. Ken then arrived and wanted to contribute and I told him to protect Layla in case, the safe house gets compromised. Ken was reluctant at first but Joe managed to sway him to stay put just in case and told him that Layla would walk through the security measures, in case they got attacked.

We then headed out to the location and went on the offensive. Jackson charged in with his armored car and it was gun blazing from there. Meanwhile, me and joe attacked from the back while the unknown agents were focused on Jackson who was going full Rambo just unleashing a barrage of bullets, with his machine gun mounted at the top of the car.

We then closed into the house and started taking down the assailants as we moved upstairs into Scarman's room and then planned to take him down. We then covered his face and then kidnapped him to another car that we had. While we moved downstairs, one of the assailants spotted us and tried to attack but was blown away by Jackson using a grenade launcher. We were almost caught in the debris but we managed to escape.

All that commotion alarmed the neighbours who informed the police. Johnson and Michael together with a huge fleet of police cars came to the scene but found carnage. The armoured car was on fire as the assailants started to crawl while others were heavily injured. Out of the thirty assailants, twelve died, and the remaining were heavily injured. They were hospitalized and the able ones were taken in for questioning. They kept screaming in horror due to the damage that Jackson did to them and didn't want to know or be reminded of their experience.
