It was a chilly September in the kingdom of Alta as the weather started to get a little chilly and windy, now that summer was fleeting and Autumn was fast approaching.
The morning sun rose through the clouds, the forests and trees were no longer green and blooming flowers, but Autumn was such a wonderful, blissful season for change as the forests and trees were changing into beautiful colors of orange, red, yellow and brown.
The Alta River was calm and tranquil, the Viking ships were slowly sailing and the morning sky was a blissful orange and yellow with pink clouds.
As the kingdom of Alta were preparing for the Autumn season, all of the townsfolk were wearing seasonal Autumn clothing, dressed in coats, knitted hats, scarves, cardigans, boots and mittens.
Some of the townsfolk were getting ready for the Harvest Festival, an enchanted autumnal event where they go apple-picking, decorate pumpkins, have a Thanksgiving party, children jumping in autumn leaves and other younger and older children were getting ready to attend magic school across kingdoms and other lands to learn new things, use their magical knowledge to better the community and grow their gifts to prepare themselves for their own destined future at an advanced school for higher education to study and practice their magic further or to pursue their career goals after graduation.
The Harvest Festival in Alta also celebrates raising up the Alta Flag, with the symbol of the Alta Snowdrop Flower.
Meanwhile at the Alta Castle, the Royal Maeland-Harrelson family were in high spirits because today is Hanna and Aliza's first day attending at Krauxorth Academy of Magics, a prestigious upper secondary magic school for school-aged children ages 13-19, that teaches them the magic of learning in proficient, intermediate and advanced magic classes such as, Alchemy, Mathamancy, Healing Magic, Artwork, Herbalism, Projective magic, History, Beginners Music, Herbology and much more.
Krauxorth Academy accepts royal students from across the 7 Norse kingdoms: Alta, Elysium, Avalon, Gehenna, Valhalla, Fossverǫld and Vándrfold. It also accepts aspiring witches, wizards, alchemists, artists, musicians and human folk from different magical lands throughout the Quiet Silverbell Forest.
Krauxorth Academy's campus includes: stables for pegasus, several fancy classrooms, a garden, a greenhouse, a large auditorium, a few study halls, an indoor cafeteria for eating, a bell tower, a soccer field, an art room, a gymnasium, a library, a science lab, an observatory, a healing room, a track and field for horse racing and flying derby, a music room and a few offices for professors and the headmaster.
At Alta Castle, the royal Maeland-Harrelson family were helping Hanna and Aliza get ready for their 1st day of magic school.
It was 6am in the morning, and the Alta clock tower was chiming its bell, melodiously.
Queen Patricia went inside of Hanna's bedroom to wake her up, but to much of her surprise, she already saw that Hanna has already woken up, her room was clean and organized, she was already getting dressed in her school uniform, she packed her backpack with her school supplies, she puts on her Phoenix brooch on her chest, she puts her enchanted compass in her pocket and her gift-given amulet around her neck.
"Wow", Patricia said, impressed. "Good job, Hanna for obeying me and getting ready for school."
She helps Hanna put on her backpack and fix her black hair in a long braided ponytail and gold heart-shaped earrings in her ears.
Queen Patricia gave Hanna a kiss on her forehead and told her to sit downstairs in the living room to wait for the carriage to arrive while she helps Aliza to get ready for school, as well.
After Hanna went downstairs to wait for the carriage to arrive, Patricia went to Aliza's bedroom to check and see if she was getting ready for school.
She found Aliza in her school uniform, packing her school supplies in her backpack and putting on her cursed amulet around her neck.
"Hurry up, Aliza", Queen Patricia said. "Lucille has prepared you and Hanna a healthy breakfast for your 1st day of school in the kitchen."
Aliza silently nodded and finished getting ready while Queen Patricia left the room.
Hanna went back upstairs and went to her bedroom's bathroom and quickly brushed her teeth and washed her face.
After Aliza gets ready for school, she goes to her own bedroom's bathroom and brushes her teeth and washes her face.
The two girls rushed downstairs in the dining hall for their breakfast.
When they saw the dining hall table, their mouths were watering and their stomachs were growling.
They saw Swedish pancakes, bread with chocolate spread, yogurt, cloudberries, mixed berries, and orange juice.
Hanna and Aliza quickly sat down and ate their breakfast.
While eating their breakfast, Aliza said with a menacing look at her little sister, "You better not embarrass me on my 1st day of school, you hear me?"
"I want to make a good first impression."
Hanna swallowed her pancakes then said, "I won't embarrass you, I promise. I just want to make new friends and learn new things."
Aliza huffed and said, "Humph, you better get out of my way."
Hanna still wasn't aware that Lucifer's curse was taking its full effect on her big sister; she thought Aliza woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
Unknowingly, Aliza's hands were starting to turn cold and numb and they were turning bluish-purplish from her cold, harsh tone.
Her hands were trembling with both fear and coldness.
She quickly grabs her turquoise blue winter gloves and puts them on to hide her cursed hands.
Hanna wanted to ask her about why she is wearing turquoise blue winter gloves in the Fall, but she shook her head, dismissively.
After their breakfast, they heard a loud neigh from outside the gates.
Their carriage has arrived to pick them up.
"Girls, your carriage is here." Lucille said. "Hurry along or you'll be late for school."
Lucille escorted the girls outside to find two white Pegasi drawn by a carriage and cart.
Hanna and Aliza quickly put their school backpacks on their backs and hurried to the carriage.
Queen Patricia, King Harold and Queen Dorothea arrived just in time to see their daughters going to their 1st day of magic school.
Patricia grabbed Hanna's hand and said, "Hope you have a wonderful 1st day of school, Hanna."
Hanna nodded. "I will, Mama."
Patricia was beginning to tear up. Her crystal blue eyes were watering.
Hanna held her head down, a little wave of nervousness spread across her face.
Patricia noticed this and asked her, "What's wrong, honey?"
Hanna sighed. "What if...what if I won't make new friends, or learn anything new or I might make a mistake?"
Queen Patricia held Hanna's hands in hers with an encouraging smile and gave her motherly advice.
"You'll be fine, Hanna," she said. "You just need to be who you are and don't worry about other people. Be your own person and learn new things to grow. Don't be afraid to try new things; be brave, Hanna. Believe in yourself."
Hanna smiled, feeling better. "Thank you, Mama," and she gave her a big bear hug.
Just then, Hanna's Phoenix brooch emitted a magical golden yellow glow brightly as the morning sun.
Queen Patricia gave her a kiss on her forehead and helped her hop aboard inside of the carriage.
Queen Dorothea gave Aliza a hug and whispered something indistinct in her ear and slipped something in her backpack sneakily.
Aliza nodded and hopped aboard into the carriage and sat down on the seat.
The parents waved goodbye as the carriage drove off and was out of sight.
Minutes later, as the carriage drove, Hanna asked the driver, "Excuse me, but where's Krauxorth Academy?"
To answer her question, the driver whipped the flying horses and soon, the carriage was lifted off from the ground and flew into the sky and clouds, flying at past speed through the trees and forests.
Hanna was amazed! "This is incredible, isn't it, Aliza?"
Aliza just shrugged her shoulders.
As the carriage flew higher than the birds, Hanna looked down and gasped in amazement.
She saw Krauxorth Academy in all its glory.
The building itself looked like a colossal ancient castle surrounded by trees and forests and mountains with bridges including the Quiet Silverbell Forest. It had many flags of the symbolic colors of red, golden yellow and magenta with a resembling symbol of their mascot, surprisingly a Phoenix, like Hanna's brooch.
It drew a long bridge for students to come across and many students arrived on campus grounds from various kingdoms and were talking among each other.
The Academy was near a moat and rivers with gigantic waterfalls and fairies from the Quiet Silverbell Forest, like the Light Fairies flew around the campus grounds.
Krauxorth Academy even had a giant statue of their mascot, the Phoenix and it was near a mountain that drew more bridges and rocks and cliffs.
As the carriage flew down the entrance of the school grounds, Hanna and Aliza stepped off the carriage and walked up to the entrance black gate of the school campus grounds.
As the gate magically opened wide, the two girls began to walk towards the campus grounds.
Everyone stopped to look at the two Altanian and Gehennian princesses and gave them strange looks like they were aliens from another planet.
They all began to whisper and snicker to one another, judging them from head to toe.
Aliza said to Hanna, "Listen here, you little pipsqueak, I'm going to be popular here, so don't tell anyone that I'm adopted or we're related."
Hanna nodded her head. "I won't, I promise."
Aliza began to leave her little sister and went to introduce herself to the other students.
Hanna shook her head in disbelief and decided to take a stroll around the campus grounds.
As she began to walk around, she decided to go sit under a tree and read a book.
As she was diving her nose into her book, a 14 year old girl named Princess Alison Olsen of Valhalla walked up to her and said in a friendly tone, "Hi, I'm Alison from the kingdom of Valhalla. What's your name?"
Hanna looks up at her with a warm smile and begins to stand up, introducing herself.
"I'm Hanna from the kingdom of Alta. Pleased to have met your acquaintance."
Alison giggled then said, "Who's that girl you were with?" She pointed to Aliza, who was cliquing herself with the cool, rich girls.
Hanna stuttered nervously, "Um-- she's my...friend from the kingdom of Gehenna."
Alison was surprised. "Gehenna? The kingdom of the Underworld?"
Hanna gasped. "Underworld?"
Alison grabbed Hanna's arm and they ran around the school campus and hid behind a tree, talking in whispers.
Alison whispered first, "Gehenna is a terrible kingdom filled with demons, imps and creatures like snakes, crows, werewolves and ravens. There's this mean, cold-hearted, sadistic ruler, Prince Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, who does terrible, horrible, unthinkable things to innocent people."
Hanna intently listened and then asked, "What does He do?"
Alison whispered, "He lets the servants starve to death, he doesn't give them any water to drink and lets them to die of dehydration, He kills helpless animals with dark magic, he uses black magic to lure unsuspecting little girls and women into His castle and forces them to be His servants and if they don't listen, He makes them suffer and He magically turns them into His "Children of Darkness".
Gasping in fear, Hanna asked, "W-what's children of darkness?"
Alison answers, "Children of Darkness are little girls and boys whose innocent souls are corrupted by Lucifer and He lures them into His castle to do unimaginable, unthinkable things for Him, especially girls."
Shaking in fear, Hanna felt a chill going down on her spine. She thought to herself, 'Maybe that's why Aliza was acting so weird; she was afraid of her past.'
Hanna and Alison heard the school bell, ringing from the bell tower, signaling all of the students to head to the auditorium for an assembly.
Alison grabbed Hanna's hand and they rushed inside of the school building, along with the rest of the students.
*******
Inside of the auditorium, all of the students were sitting quietly on the chairs while the headmaster of Krauxorth Academy of Magics, Principal Aanenson, was vigilantly eyeing his students, making sure everyone was paying close attention.
As soon as the students were quiet, Principal Aanenson began to speak.
"Good morning, students," he said vigorously. "Welcome to Krauxorth Academy of Magics!" He pulled out his wand and magically conjured up a banner that read in bold, black letters:
"Welcome to Krauxorth Academy of Magics!" And, small fireworks were exploding, causing the students to ooh and ahhh.
Principal Aanenson cleared his throat and said calmly, "Krauxorth Academy is the most prestigious school in all of the lands, where you will learn all kinds of interesting magic through our curriculum."
He then said, "Krauxorth Academy will give you the tools you need to hone your magical skills in any area of magic and with great strength of character and hard work, you will develop your strengths in your magic to strive for excellence, strengthen your knowledge and achieve greater success."
"Today, you all are little birds, learning to fly. Tomorrow, you will spread your wings and soar towards a brighter future."
He continued, "Since this is your 1st day of high school, you will all get to know each other and familiarize yourselves in a new learning environment."
He waved his wand and gave each student their own student I.D and conjured up a pile of papers and gave them their own class schedules.
He then said, "First, I will make sure everyone will abide by the rules and regulations of our "Krauxorth Code of Honor," our official handbook." He conjured up a big magenta handbook that had the Krauxorth symbol of the Phoenix and was in intricate golden yellow and red designs.
He went over the rules in a strong, stern voice:
1. Treat others with kindness and respect.
2. No running in the study halls.
3. No eating or drinking in class.
4. Study harder, not smarter.
5. Always follow the school uniform policy.
6. No talking during class.
7. No sleeping during class.
8. Listen & respect the professors.
9. Always have academic integrity.
10. Follow the Krauxorth Academy motto:
"Through the Shadows, We Persevere And Follow the Eternal Beacon of Light."
He closed the handbook and it disappeared into a pink smoke and he said, "I hope you will all have a successful academic year and if you need help or guidance, we have wonderful professors, faculty and myself to guide you through life. "
With that conclusion, the school bell rang and everyone grabbed their backpacks, looked at their schedules and headed to their 1st period class.
During study halls, as the students were walking and talking excitedly among each other, Hanna looked at her class schedule and tried to put on an optimistic smile, hoping that she would have a good 1st day of school, even though she was having first-day jitters and was a novice at learning magic.
She hardly was familiar with the school campus, classes and new faces.
While looking at her schedule and aimlessly wandering in the halls, looking for her 1st period class, she felt a tap on her shoulder and startled, she turned around to see the person who tapped her.
It was Princess Alison. She had a warm smile and asked her, "Are you lost? Do you need help?"
Hanna nodded her head. Alison looked at Hanna's class schedule and then she compared it to hers.
With a big smile, she said excitedly, "We have Alchemy 101 together! We can be study buddies!"
Hanna smiled. It would be good to have a new friend, studying together, being in the same class.
Alison grabbed her hand and said, "Come on, I'll show you where the Alchemy classroom is."
At Room 49, which was Alchemy class, Professor Higginson, the Alchemy teacher, was writing notes on the chalkboard while the students were taking notes in their notebooks.
As Professor Higginson was taking attendance, the door burst open and Hanna and Alison walked gingerly inside of the classroom, sitting down at their desks, next to each other.
Professor Higginson fixed her glasses and said in a cordial tone:
"Good morning, class. Welcome to Alchemy 101. I'm Professor Higginson and I'll be your teacher this semester."
Using her magic, she waved her hand and magically levitate a piece of chalk and wrote on the chalkboard:
"Alchemy 101: Introduction to Alchemy"
She clapped her hands once and said, "Open your Alchemy textbooks to Chapter 1, page 10."
The class obeyed and opened their textbooks to Chapter 1 as Professor Higginson read from her teacher's edition and started to lecture on the introduction of Alchemy and its definition and history while levitating the chalk magically and writing down the notes on the chalkboard.
Hanna listened carefully to the lesson and was writing notes in her Alchemy notebook, wanting to be a good student.
Just then, she saw a crumpled piece of paper thrown on her desk then heard snickers across the room.
Curious, she unraveled the note that said, "Princess Retard of Alta".
Tears of anger flowed from her eyes as she turned her back and saw a 14 year old girl with an evil grin, green eyes, long black hair and a silver tiara on her head named Princess Bella Pattinson of Avalon, snickering and tittering.
Hanna held back the tears and muttered calmly, "Stay strong and positive; this is just the 1st day."
Professor Higginson saw the note and said, "Class, who wrote this?"
The class shrugged their shoulders and shook their heads, neither wanted to confess or didn't know who wrote it.
Bella acted all innocent, hands folded and all smiles, as if a halo were hovering above her head.
"I don't know, Professor Higginson", she said, pretending to be sweet.
Professor Higginson sighed, magically threw the piece of paper in the nearby trash can and went back to her lecture.
While the teacher lectured and students were paying attention and taking notes, Bella snapped her fingers at Hanna and whispered, "You better watch and learn who's the real star pupil in this school, and if you get in my way--" she cracked her knuckles and continued, "I'm gonna kill you." She narrowed her eyes at Hanna angrily.
Hanna gulped nervously, thinking that her 1st day of magic school is gonna be tougher than she thought.
Later that day, Hanna went through the rest of her classes smoothly and learned everything from Alchemy, Projective magic, Artwork, History of Magic, to Healing and she enjoyed every lecture of them and paid attention to write down some notes.
Now, it was study hall period and Hanna was walking to the Krauxorth Academy library alone to study.
Just then, she spotted the bully, Bella earlier from Alchemy class, along with her three minions, Princess Victoria, Princess Avery and--she couldn't believe her eyes--Princess Aliza?
Aliza was a part of Bella's clique?
Hanna stopped, saw Bella and tried to flash a smile and introduce herself.
"Hi Bella, I'm Princess Hanna," she said, curtseying politely.
Bella didn't return the curtsey, instead she laughed and said, "Hello Princess Retard," she cackled, like a witch.
Hanna's cheeks turned bright red.
"That's not nice, Bella!" She retorted sharply, trying to put on a brave face.
Hanna realized that Bella was the culprit for throwing that crumpled piece of paper on her desk in Alchemy class...and didn't get in trouble for it!
Hanna took a deep breath and said calmly, "Would you please move so I can pass?"
Bella walked up to her and gave her a tight blow across her cheek. She slapped her!
Hanna, on the verge of tears, pushed Bella hard and she fell on her butt on the floor.
Bella looked at her with fiery eyes and said, "You witch!" She gets up, walks up to Hanna and spits on her face. Royal disrespect!
Hanna slowly steps away and begins to run like a bullet while Bella and her minions, especially Aliza, run after her.
They chased her around the hallways until she saw the girls restroom and hid.
Thinking quickly, Hanna barricaded the door with a chair and wiped off the spit from her face.
The bathroom door burst open with magic and Bella grabbed Hanna by her dress collar and pinned her against the wall while Victoria and Avery began to punch and kick Hanna to the ground while she screamed in pain until she was covered in bruises and bloody cuts.
Victoria punched Hanna in the nose so hard, it started to bleed red crimson blood.
Aliza did the unthinkable.
She reached in her backpack and what she pulled out left her little adoptive sister in shock and horror.
Hanna's eyes widened. "No, Aliza."
It was the Silver bracelet with the silver butterflies, the gift Prince Charles Halldorsen of Elysium had given her for her 14th birthday and Aliza was dangling it in front of her face, as if it was a dead cockroach.
Aliza ripped it apart and it broke, having the silver butterflies fly and scattered on the floor.
She said, with a smug face, "There. Now, when Prince Charles returns, he'll fall in love with me and not be a fool to love a stupid, dumb, slow-witted, retarded princess like you."
Hanna let out a small gasp.
She was hurt, angry and confused.
Shaking in fear, she began to sob quietly while Bella and her minions laughed evilly and left the bathroom as the lunch bell rang and Bella called out, "See you later, Princess Hanna!" Hanna could hear Bella's evil laugh cackling until it fainted away into silence.
Princess Hanna was humiliated, all alone, as she laid on the bathroom floor, spitting out blood, her head spinning and her heart breaking into a million pieces.
Minutes later, Princess Alison came into the girls bathroom to wash her hands when she found Hanna in her greatest need, in her sad state, feeling compassion for her.
When she asked her what was wrong, Hanna just hugged her knees and began to cry and weep, feeling like her 1st day of school was a living hell.
Alison hugged her tightly, consoling her and hushing her, "Shh, it's ok, Hanna. It's ok."
The compassionate Valhallian Princess helped her up and grabbed her arm and said sweetly, "Come on, let's take you to the Healing room."
As the girls walked to the Healing room, Hanna was walking quietly, with tears in her stinging light, hazelnut brown eyes and her heart broke.
At the Healing room, which was similar to a nurse's office, Professor Honeywell, a Healer and a Healing teacher, was using Healing Magic to help Hanna with her condition, magically putting ointment and bandages onto her cuts and bruises.
Hanna politely thanked her then she and Alison headed to the school cafeteria for lunch.
At the indoor cafeteria, Hanna and Alison sat at an empty table while the other ones were filled with noisy students eating lunch and talking among themselves.
While Hanna and Alison were eating their lunch, they were talking and laughing merrily, enjoying each other's company.
Then, they found out that they had a lot in common; they both love reading books, learning, school, their castle-life, their Scandinavian kingdoms, and they found out that they have different interests.
Hanna enjoyed stargazing, sightseeing, adventure and learning magic while Alison enjoyed music, inventing, physics and science.
But nevertheless, the two girls became best friends quickly and they exchanged addresses and castle zip codes.
It wasn't long until Hanna and Alison talked about their summer adventures, school and cute boys.
After the bell rang, lunch period was over and it was time for the 6th period class, which was Herbalism 103, the class that teaches herbal medicine.
Once the late bell rang, Hanna waved Alison goodbye in the school hallway as they went their separate ways and Hanna went inside of the Herbalism classroom and sat down at her desk.
As she waited for the class to begin, other students headed to sit in their seats and when the teacher came in, Hanna couldn't believe who the teacher was...
'Miss Christianne?' She thought excitedly.
Hanna pinched herself on her arm, to see if she was dreaming.
Unfortunately, this wasn't a dream.
Christianne Risdal, the Nature fairy from the Quiet Silverbell Forest, was going to be her Herbalism teacher!
Hanna squealed in delight.
'This is going to be great!' She thought excitedly.
Professor Christianne Risdal was gathering her supplies and her Herbalism 103 textbook and like all of the teachers, waved her hand and magically levitate a piece of white chalk and wrote her name and today's lesson on the chalkboard.
"Hello class," she said, pleasantly.
"I'm Professor Risdal, a Nature Fairy and your permanent Herbalism teacher."
She handed each student a hardcover copy of the Herbalism textbook, a worksheet and a potted plant, flower seeds, a magic wand and a flask.
She went over today's lesson as the intrigued students were watching closely and doing the fun experiment.
After Herbalism class was over and the last bell rang for departure, Professor Risdal reminded the class, "Remember, read Chapter 1 in your textbook and complete the worksheet for tonight's homework."
The students groaned and moaned as they packed their backpacks and rocketed out of the classroom.
As Hanna quickly puts on her backpack and leaves the classroom, she turns her head towards Professor Risdal and gives her a small wave and Miss Christianne gives her a friendly wink before Hanna walks out the door.
After the first day of school was officially over, the Krauxorth Academy students were heading towards the exit doors and went outside of the campus grounds, walking across the bridge and headed to the black gates, waiting for their horse-drawn carriages and servants to pick them up.
As Hanna sat on a rock bench, waiting for Miss Lucille to pick her up, she spotted Aliza and her new friends, sharing a secret best friend group handshake, as she gave them a death glare, thinking about their bullying act, especially how Aliza treated her.
Hanna decided to give Aliza the silent treatment and not speak to her, as she was starting to think that her big sister would ever become her biggest archenemy.
After Aliza waved goodbye to her friends and met up with Hanna, she tried to be friendly towards her, but Hanna saw right through her and walked away, sitting at another rock bench, eyeing on the moat that was full of magnificent fish swimming, completely ignoring her.
Aliza didn't understand her little adoptive sister's social issue but shrugged it off.
When the midnight sun went down and the moon began to rise, the Aurora Borealis shone brightly with their green and blue streaks of light as Krauxorth Academy was blending with the night sky as the windows and doors were locked and the lights were out until tomorrow morning.
It was quiet around the campus grounds as crickets began to sing and the Moon Fairies flew through the sky.
Hanna was almost asleep on the rock bench as she looked at her wrist watch and saw the time. It was 7:30pm.
'Miss Lucille must be late,' she thought sleepily.
Finally, Miss Lucille arrived with the chauffeur in the horse-drawn carriage at the school gate to pick up the two girls.
"Your Highnesses, I sincerely apologize for being late," Lucille said, "Come on and let's go home."
Hanna and Aliza ran through the gates and hopped on board in the carriage.
Hanna still had that death glare on her face as she folded her arms and turned her head away from Aliza, still angry with her for her bullying.
Aliza was confused. Why was Hanna mad at her?
Hanna didn't speak to her on the long ride home.
Once they got home at the Alta Castle, Hanna was the first to get out of the carriage and stormed inside with angry tears.
Queen Patricia and King Harold hugged Hanna tightly, but she jerked them away and ran upstairs to her room, locked the door, took off her backpack and angrily threw it on the floor, took off her school uniform, puts on her nightgown and slippers, jumped on her bed and cried herself to sleep.
Later that night, the Royal Maeland-Harrelson family were having dinner in the dining hall.
Aliza saw that an extra chair, which was meant for Hanna, was empty and she couldn't help but feel...no remorse, surprisingly.
Queen Patricia was the first to speak.
"So, Aliza, how were you and Hanna's 1st day of school?"
Aliza wiped her mouth with her napkin and said with an unconcerned look, "It was fine."
Queen Patricia had a worried look on her face, wondering why Hanna didn't come downstairs for their family dinner?
She excused herself from the table, took Hanna's dinner plate of delicious food and walked upstairs to Hanna's room.
When she went inside of Hanna's bedroom, she saw that Hanna was fast asleep with dry tears in her light hazelnut brown eyes from crying.
Heart breaking, Patricia puts her dinner plate down on her bed and sits down beside Hanna on the bed and caresses her long black hair, giving her love.
When Hanna opened her eyes, her vision was blurry until she saw her adoptive mother with a worried face and sat up, beginning to cry again.
Queen Patricia hugged her tightly and asked her, "Hanna, what's wrong?"
Too sad to speak, Hanna quietly eats her dinner as Patricia asks, "How was your 1st day of school?"
After finishing her dinner, Hanna was mute and showed her adoptive mother the cuts and bruises on her body from Bella and her friends from school, which shocked Patricia and was on the verge of tears.
When Patricia asked her what happened, Hanna gathered up all of her courage and told her the story of her 1st day of school, with a heavy heart.
Just then, Hanna's brooch began to emit an enchanted yellow glow as bright as the moon and the Phoenix's eyes glowed a bright red, foreshadowing that Hanna's 1st experience of her magic was just the beginning...
