BACK DOOR

Dawn

"I'll be back in the morning. Will you be fine alone?" Monica asked through the cellphone.

" this is not the first time mom, of course I'll be fine " Mia replied simply

" alright baby, do your home work. Mom loves you "

" I love you too "

The call was cut off. Mia walked towards her study table and continued reading the book. She had seen Lonan leaving his house a few minutes ago. This was just the perfect time to find out what he's hiding it seemed as if becoming his friend to find out the truth won't work, since he's really hard to convince.

_________

Mia dropped the rope inside her backpack, she walked into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. She also tucked it into her backpack before zipping it close

"Alright, everything? check! Good to go"

She muttered within herself before leaving her house.

She walked just few feet before halting at Lonan's gate entrance. It wasn't locked

Instead of opening the gate, she jumped over it.She stared at the cat statue on the doorstep. She wondered if it was like that the first time she saw it or something about it had changed.

Looking at the garden, the Ravens had left the bushes. Good. They weren't really amusing from the beginning.

Mia's eyes went to the single window at the front. It was closed. She suddenly scoffed...

"Why couldn't he just open the window & lock the gate instead" She muttered as she walked towards it.

She opened her backpack & brought out the knife & the screwdriver she started unscrewing the screws, they all came off. She removed the window handles with the knife and brought the glass down.

She crept inside the house and immediately screwed the window back together

She scanned the room she was in. It seemed as if it was the dining room. There was nothing unfamiliar about how she remembered it. the rocking chair was moving. She kept her eyes on it for a while before walking down the long hallway and onto the stairs. they led into an empty room. It was dark that she barely could see anything.

She tried to find the lights but it seemed as if the switch was open. She brought out her flashlight and switched it on. The room had nothing, just an old sofa, an old camera and...there it was, THE BROWN CASKET

A chill suddenly ran down her spine. She wasn't seeing things, it was real.

Moving a bit closer to it, she made to touch it.

"Stay still," She immediately flinched as the voice came up.

Mia's world seemed to halt at the sound of his voice she didn't have any clue of what next move to make. Running away seemed like the best solution, but how can she? when the person is standing right at the entrance.

What has she gotten herself into? Naomi was right. This was the stupidest thing she could ever do. now what is she suppose to say?

"turn"His voice sounded calm, but she could sense the sternliness in between his words

Slowly backing the casket, she faced Lonan fully, trying hard to keep a straight face

The hood covered half of his face. His pale face looked emotionlessly. At that moment, he seemed like one of those boys, her mom would warn her to stay away from He stood there, hands in his pockets, black eyes staring directly at her.

His gaze wasn't the one that would make a girl go weak on the knees, it's the one that sent a chill down her spine the look that would make you wish the ground could open up and swallow you instantly. It was creeping the living hell out of her.

" what were you doing? " There came his voice. Why did he always speak calmly? Why didn't his tone match his cold expressions

" h-huh?... " Mia stammered. She honestly didn't know what to say.

She couldn't just tell him that she broke into his house to invade his privacy? That sound foolish, right? but isn't it what she did?

" drop the torch " He told her and she did as told. Immediately as the flashlight hit the floor, it turned off, leaving the room dark. Now she couldn't see his face

She suddenly felt a touch on her shoulders and she flinched. Lonan's scent penetrated into her nostrils as he inched closer.

" what did you wanted to see? huh? "

" n-nothing, I just... dropped by and found the...the door locked "

" and how did you get in? "

" I used the backdoor? "

Lonan hummed and moved away from her. He picked up the flashlight and destroyed it with his hands.

Mia shrieked from where she was as she heard the cracking sounds

A little light entered the room and she looked ahead as Lonan held the door open. He motion her to get out and she ran out without asking twice.

" I hate liars " He suddenly said as he closed the door.

" I...I don't understand. "

" I don't have a backdoor "

Mia kept quiet. They both stared at each other as silence engulfed them.

" actually, the reason why I came her was about the assignment. You can't just ask us to exclude you "

Lonan was impressed. Her lying was smoothly and he suddenly got a crazy thought. Yes, Mia Lopez was beautiful just as the entire school claimed. He wondered how her insides were like. Were they beautiful as she appeared on the outside.

He could hear every single word she was blubbering out of her mouth, but he wasn't interested just a little scent of her blood right? It wouldn't hurt a bit.

" are you listening? "

" leave " Lonan uttered. Mia didn't wait for any second before dashing out of the house Neither Lonan knew why he'd let her go like that, he could've tased her at least.

He walked back in the room, moved closer to the casket. He brushed the lid with his gloved hands.

" pleasant dreams. "

__________

Mia quickly shut her bedroom door closed as her heart began pumping rapidly against her chest

"Who exactly is he?!"

She rubbed her temple frustratedly. She can't believe he caught her. Right when she was close to finding the truth, he caught her.

Damn him and that stupid book.

" I'll know you Lonan Hart, one way or another "
