Chapter 8: He Wants A Hundred Million in Emotional Damages

Xia Fanxing arrived as scheduled to see Mu Hanchen.

But he seemed very busy, constantly in meetings.

It wasn't until 12 o'clock at noon that the meetings ended.

Mu Hanchen's assistant, Wang Xi, came to the reception room from the meeting room and, seeing Xia Fanxing, slightly bowed and greeted her, "Madam, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for so long, please follow me."

Very few people knew that Xia Fanxing was Mu Hanchen's wife, and Wang Xi was one of them.

Therefore, the front desk had been informed in advance, so when Xia Fanxing arrived, there were no difficulties and she was directly taken to the reception room.

Now that Mu Hanchen had finished his meeting, he could discuss the divorce with her.

Walking into Mu Hanchen's office, Xia Fanxing felt as if she was in a different world.

The last time she came by was last year when he was working late at the office. She was concerned about his health and had come to bring him supper.

Back then, their relationship was fairly good, and they could talk pleasantly for a bit.

She didn't expect that a year later, she would be here to get a divorce.

Mu Hanchen sat behind his office desk, looking indifferently at Xia Fanxing and the woman in a business suit standing behind her.

After waiting for a while and seeing that Mu Hanchen had no intention of speaking, Xia Fanxing took the initiative, "This is my lawyer, Tang Mei. I've prepared the divorce agreement. Take a look, and if there's nothing wrong, we can sign the documents and proceed."

As she spoke, she handed the divorce agreement, which was in Tang Mei's hands, to Mu Hanchen.

Mu Hanchen's eyebrows slightly raised, but he did not refuse.

He casually glanced at it and understood Xia Fanxing's thoughts.

Leaning back in his chair, he looked at the woman opposite him with an almost mocking stare, "Your divorce agreement is really not well written. It makes me seriously doubt whether you truly want to divorce me."

Xia Fanxing was silent for a moment before saying, "Apart from what belongs to me, I have no additional conditions. Whether it's movable or immovable property, I want none of it. Doesn't this show my sincerity enough?"

She genuinely wanted a divorce.

How many times did she have to say it before he would believe her!

Mu Hanchen curled his lips into a slight smile, "You may not want any property, but that doesn't mean I don't need anything. This divorce is causing me substantial emotional distress. I need compensation for my suffering."

Xia Fanxing was so shocked by what she heard that she didn't react for a moment.

The wealthiest man was actually asking for emotional compensation from a woman he was divorcing.

Where was the sense in that!

Even Tang Mei, who had many years of experience, was extremely shocked.

She had expected a fierce debate with Mu Hanchen's legal team but had not anticipated Mu Hanchen would take matters into his own hands and catch her off guard.

"Why?"

"Because you're the one asking for the divorce."

Xia Fanxing suppressed the urge to curse, "Fine, you first tell me, how would the compensation work?"

Mu Hanchen looked at Xia Fanxing with interest, "Not much, I just want one billion."

Xia Fanxing's eyes widened in astonishment. Even though she now had a considerable income, it wasn't on the level of talking about billions.

Selling herself wouldn't even come close to one billion.

Mu Hanchen was being utterly unreasonable!

More agitated than her was Tang Mei, "Impossible, President Mu, your request is too outrageous."

She had assessed their assets, and the difference was like heaven and earth.

For Xia Fanxing to come up with a billion to compensate Mu Hanchen was more absurd than not divorcing at all...

Wait a minute?

Isn't that right, Mu Hanchen isn't someone strapped for cash, could it be that this demand was for...

Before Tang Mei could question it, Xia Fanxing spoke first, "Do you enjoy making this difficult for me? Why can't we amicably separate and give each other some dignity?"

Mu Hanchen asked with a cold expression, "Do you think our marriage was a happy union?"

She was the one bent on marrying him from the beginning.

Now when she wants a divorce, it's not going to be that simple.

His life, Mu Hanchen's life, is not to be manipulated by a woman.

A flicker of sadness crossed Xia Fanxing's face; indeed, it was he who had been forced into their marriage.

Tang Mei and Xia Fanxing had a good relationship in college, and she knew how much damage a divorce could do to a woman.

She grabbed Xia Fanxing's hand and shielded her behind her, making a firm case, "President Mu, if you insist on some form of compensation for emotional distress, then we shall have to draft a new divorce agreement, especially concerning the division of marital assets."

Considering Mu Hanchen's wealth, it wouldn't be a problem for Xia Fanxing to obtain a few billion.

Mu Hanchen said indifferently, "No need, let's just go to court."

Xia Fanxing frowned even more, knowing she was no match for Mu Hanchen in court.

And the longer it dragged on, the more time it would take.

She didn't want their divorce to become public knowledge.

Having a falling out wouldn't benefit anyone.

Didn't he care at all about the impact the divorce would have on Mu Corporation?

Xia Fanxing thought she had known Mu Hanchen well enough after three years of marriage, but at this moment, she suddenly realized she might not know him at all.

But it was then that she noticed something off about Mu Hanchen's complexion, his palm subconsciously pressing on his stomach.

It must be another stomach ache.

She sighed softly, took out the medicine she always carried in her bag, and handed it to Mu Hanchen, "Take this first, then we'll continue."

However, Mu Hanchen suddenly grabbed Xia Fanxing's wrist, "Why, do you feel sorry for me?"
