New car

As I walked back to my house, I glanced one last time at Ciara before she teleported away. She always had a way of stirring up my emotions, leaving me feeling both flustered and strangely energized. With a sigh, I opened the door to my home, ready to put the day's events behind me.

The moment I stepped inside, I found my parents sprawled on the floor, having clearly been eavesdropping. "Mom! Dad!" I exclaimed, rushing over to help them up. "What on earth are you doing?"

My mother, still giggling, looked up at me. "Is Ciara single, dear?"

I rolled my eyes. "Mom, stop. Seriously."

My father joined in, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "She seems like a nice girl. Maybe you should invite her over more often."

"Both of you, enough!" I said, exasperated but unable to suppress a small smile. "She's just a colleague."

They exchanged knowing looks but thankfully dropped the subject. I headed to my room, eager to escape their teasing. Stripping off my clothes, I stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash away the day's grime and tension. As the steam enveloped me, I couldn't help but replay the day's events in my mind. Despite everything, it was nice to be home.

After my shower, I slipped into my pajamas and crawled into bed, still feeling a bit grumpy. Tomorrow would be a new day, and I hoped it would be less eventful. With that thought, I drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up feeling surprisingly motivated. I stretched and got out of bed, heading straight for the shower. As the water cascaded over me, I thought about the day ahead and Nathaniel. He had been so kind and charming yesterday. I wondered what he was up to today.

Once I was dressed, I took my time choosing an outfit. I wanted to look good, but not too obvious. I settled on a fitted blouse paired with a knee-length skirt that flattered my figure without being too revealing. I styled my black hair into loose waves, letting it cascade over my shoulders. A touch of makeup completed the look, giving me a fresh and polished appearance.

I took one last look in the mirror, feeling satisfied with my reflection. "Alright, Aeliana," I muttered to myself. "Time to face the day."

I walked out of my room, calling out to my parents. "I'm heading out!"

"Have a great day, sweetheart!" my mother replied, and my father added, "Be safe!"

I paused at the door, remembering that my car was out of commission. I sighed, preparing myself for the inconvenience. But when I opened the door, I was greeted by an unexpected sight: a brand-new Mercedes parked in the driveway.

I stared at the sleek, silver car in disbelief. It was absolutely gorgeous, with its smooth lines and polished exterior. The luxurious vehicle was the epitome of elegance and sophistication, a far cry from my old, worn-out car. On the windshield was a letter, which I quickly grabbed.

Opening the envelope, I unfolded the letter and read:

"Dear Aeliana,

Consider this a small token of appreciation for all the excitement you bring into my life. I thought you could use an upgrade. Enjoy the ride, and maybe think of me every time you drive it.

Yours,

Ciara"

I could practically hear her smirking through the words. Shaking my head, I pocketed the key and slid into the driver's seat. The interior was just as impressive as the exterior, with leather seats and all the latest features. I took a moment to savor the luxury before starting the engine.

The drive to Leora's castle was smooth and exhilarating. The Mercedes handled like a dream, making me almost forget about the challenges of the previous day. As I pulled up to the castle, I saw Nathaniel standing there, a bright smile spreading across his face as he noticed the new car.

"Aeliana, you look stunning today," he said, walking over to me. "And is this your new ride? Very impressive."

"Thanks, Nathaniel," I replied, feeling a warm blush creep up my cheeks. "I guess I got an unexpected gift."

"Whoever gave it to you has excellent taste," he said, his eyes twinkling with admiration. "And you look amazing, by the way."

Before I could respond, Leora appeared, clearing her throat pointedly. "Shouldn't we be getting back to work?" she said, raising an eyebrow.

Nathaniel straightened up, looking slightly sheepish. "Of course, Lady Leora. Right away."

I gave Nathaniel a quick smile before following Leora into the castle, ready to face whatever the day had in store.

As we walked through the grand corridors of the castle, Leora slowed her pace and glanced over at me with a curious expression. "So, Aeliana," she began, her voice casual, "I couldn't help but notice how Nathaniel was looking at you earlier."

I felt my cheeks flush slightly. "He's just being friendly," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

Leora raised an eyebrow. "Friendly, hmm? Are you sure there's nothing more to it? Maybe a hint of romance?"

I sighed, not wanting to get into this conversation but knowing I couldn't avoid it. "Honestly, I don't know. He's nice, and we get along well. But it's not like I'm in love with him or anything."

Leora nodded thoughtfully, her expression turning serious. "Aeliana, I need you to be careful with Nathaniel. There's something about him that doesn't sit right with me."

I frowned, taken aback by her warning. "What do you mean? He's always been respectful and kind to me."

"There's more to him than meets the eye," Leora said, her voice firm. "I've heard things, seen things. Just... keep your guard up. I don't want you to get hurt."

Her words sent a shiver down my spine. "I appreciate the concern, Leora," I said softly. "I'll be cautious."

Leora gave me a reassuring smile. "Good. You're important to me, Aeliana. I want to make sure you're safe."

I nodded, feeling a mix of gratitude and unease. As we continued down the hallway, I couldn't help but wonder what secrets Nathaniel might be hiding and why Leora felt so strongly about warning me.
