Chapter 13: 1999

The 89th floor seemed to be a city...

"Hey Haruki? What's this?" Luna asked as I looked at her and then said "This is a city." I began explaining what a modern city is and the technology we have.

I found a newspaper stating that the year is 1999.

"It seems we're back into the past though." I said as i then looked around a bit.

"We should look around and find someone." I continued as we continued walking around.

This place seemed weird, There was no one... "Hey Is that..? Luna suddenly pointed at a silhouette of a girl.

"Hey! Come back here!" I said as i then grabbed Luna's hand and we chased after the girl.

we kept going different alleyways and chased the girl. Eventually we managed to corner her.

"Backed into a corner now!" I said as I looked at her.

She had pink hair tied into twin tails that seemed fluffy to touch.

Her eyes were a beautiful color of yellow as she also had some kind of horns?

she was wearing a high school uniform too which seemed odd to wear.

"Wait... you aren't Tsukasa... Who are you?" She asked as I quizzically looked at her. "I was going to ask you the same thing, But why were you running from me?" I asked as my attention was direct towards her horns.

"Hey what are you looking at? My eyes are down here not up there." She says as I then looked at her face.

"Sorry Its just I never saw someone with... Horns." I said as she then began introducing herself.

"Well I'm Na-eun! I'm from Tsukasa's detective agency! I'm actually a famous detective in my hometown of South Korea!" She smiled putting her hand out to shake mine. 

We shook hands and then I questioned why she was running. "So you see as a detective, I'm looking for a murderer." She said as I was about to ask I got the quest information in front of me.

[ Quest Name: Detective Work on the run. 

Details: Help Tsukasa's detective agency to find the culprit to progress to the next stage of the quest!

Rewards: A blessing from a higher being.

Time limit: 10 days. ] 

"I guess we'll help you." I said as she then began leading us to her agency.

Na-eun was strange yet she definitely looked beautiful.

"You guys will love Tsukasa he's a kind person! He's also very smart, You know he sometimes says that this is a tower and that we're all being used by a higher being."

This Shocked me as I never heard of someone as intelligent to come to this conclusion which is basically the truth.

"Na-eun. I need to meet Tsukasa now." I said as she smiled smugly "Oh getting excited Vampire boy?" She said as i began wondering "Vampire boy?" I asked as she then pointed at my hair and my face.

"Your white hair and Red eyes." They look as if you're from those Vampire webtoons!" Na-eun said as I had learned now that she seems to very much like reading Webtoons.

"Oh well It's just the genetics.. I mean I inherited it from my Father." I explained as we continued walking. 

Eventually we finally made it to the Detective agency.

"So it's really the year 1999?" I asked as Na-eun nodded before slightly opening the door. There he was, A man with glasses and had bright blue eyes he was wearing a suit and had red hair. He smiled at us and stood up.

"Welcome, Player." He says looking at me.

My eyes widened as he called me that.

"P-Player...?" I asked as he nodded and approached me.

"You certainly look different. You seem too depressed, as if you just experienced a great loss." Tsukasa said as Luna then said.

"Well that's because he did lose two friends and his own sister." She really didn't have to mention that...

"Luna..." I said as i looked at her and then she seemed scared. "I'm sorry!" She said as I then gently pat her.

"It's okay, Luna. Just please don't mention them again" I said as she nodded silently.

"Interesting... You two have a bond... A player and a resident of the tower." He said as he then looked closely at Luna.

"W-What are you looking at?!" She said as Tsukasa then said "I'm inspecting you." he said as he got closer to which she blushed and... Smack! Luna had slapped Tsukasa sending him flying to the other side of the room.

"Glad I'm not that guy." Tsukasa said from behind me as I began screaming. the dude scared me.

"Why are you here?! Weren't you just...???" I asked as he then began writing on the white board.

"I have this ability to clone myself, these clones are also connected to my memory and even my own body, so if that clone just now felt the slap than so will i."

"But I only take that pain an hour after." He explains more as Then a guy with White eyes and pitch black hair with white strands comes in.

"Ah! It seems the priest is here too! The puzzle is finally about to be solved." Na-eun says as Tsukasa smiles and goes to the man who was wearing a cassock.

"Mister Sin It's a pleasure to see you once more, I take it you'll help us in finding this culprit?" Tsukasa asked as the man called Sin replied.

"Yeah, I'll help for now. But who are these two?" He asked as Tsukasa said

"Oh you mean our glorious Player and his companion?" He seems to have me in high regard.

I looked at Sin once again and noticed he had a scar on his right eye. which made me wonder how he got it from.

"I'm Haruki Suou, This is Luna We came from a place far away." I said as Tsukasa asked then.

"You came from the 90th floor right?"

"What's it like there?! Was there an entire different civilization there?!" He kept asking question after question as i then said "Yeah I descended from up there I'm not a resident of this Tower but a 'Player' If that's what you call me." I answered every question he had.

"I see..." Tsukasa said as Na-eun then raised her hand. "Can i ask a question Haruki?" She said as i nodded.

"Are there other 'Players' like you?" Her question was actually good because even I didn't know about it.

"I honestly don't know..." I said as Sin then asked. 

"So you expect me to believe you came from above and now you'll help us? and yet I overheard your friend here say you lost 3 people valuable to you." He said looking at me with disgust.

"How could you let people close to you die? You're just a failure of a friend." He continued more as I was getting mad slowly.

Before I was going to Attack, Luna intervened.

"Shut up. Talk badly about Haruki more and I'll blow this floor up into smithereens." She was now threatening as Sin looked at her, He replied in a cold tone.

"You think I care about your threat?" He asked as Luna then began floating with an orb of red light on her hand.

"You really want to try?" She said as Sin then seemed to ready his... hilt? there was nothing on the hilt.

As the two were about to attack Na-eun quickly went in between them and then i joined in too.

"Stop it Luna, I'm fine." I said as she looked at me. I had a pained expression from the mention of those three yet I was holding strong.

"I wasn't hurt so calm down." I said painfully smiling and then grabbed her hand.

"I can protect myself Luna." I said as i then diverted my attention and Na-eun was trying to calm Sin down.

"Thanks Na-eun for calming him down" I said as she smiled and said "It's no problem! We're all friends here in this Agency! We should work together and solve this case!" She really had a lot of energy.

If i had to say anything I just hope her energy can still keep us from going against each other.

"Now what's the plan?" I asked as Tsukasa who now smiled replied to my question.

"I'm glad you asked My dear friend! We are looking for none other than... A higher being!"
